Death is overated. Who has been there and back?

Thats dissapointing. But did there happen to be a bright light? we need to talk about your flare.. -
I saw a rather unsettling video where a jumpers reserve deployes prematurely after he gets out on the step. The reserve gets caught on the tail and eventually comes off, but since it was filmed from another jumper who exited after the deployment, you do not see it when comes loos from the tail. The next time you see the reserve, its spiraling until impact. Im assuming the jumper was conected to the reserve the whole way down. Which bring me to my question.. Is there anyway to get rid of a reserve and use your main, say if you had a hook knife, or are the res. and main risers only aranged in a way to deploy in sequence of main and then reserve? we need to talk about your flare..

SiCKO - What are your thoughts on Michael Moore's new film?
spiccoli replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
yes, in the sense that he can take excrement and arrange it in a way that people that dont educate themselves will buy it, sure. i even remember hearing somthing about an elephant being called an artist because it made a couple strokes with a brush the trainer put in its trunk. the problem is he presents himself in a way to get people to think he is a legitimate journalist. its one thing to make a biased film if you have an agenda and want to make a point. its another to make people think that you dont have an agenda (presenting yourself as unbiased and objective, which is the illusions he tries to give in his documetnaries) just so they automaticaly assume what your presenting to be the facts. its amazing how people just give informatin presented in documentaries the benifit of the doubt because its a documentary, instead of varifying with multiple sources and weighing the differences. has anyone bothered to watch Fahrenhype 911? it presents a contrasting argument to moores claims. its a documentary as well, but does a lot better at supporting its claims. its good to watch the two, and than evaluate for yourself. no, i type fast and dont capitalize or spellcheck. sorry. we need to talk about your flare.. -
society seems to define christianity more as a nationality or tradition these days, rather than a way of life. in other words, if you grow up in a christian family your assumed christian by heredity regardless of how devoted you are. when it comes to any religion, i dont think you can actualy consider yourself a legitimate member unless your devoted to following its teachings according to your understandings of them. i see many people claiming themselves to be this or that, but dont produce the fruits to show for it. kind of like politics i guess. this is why i think the claim that the united states is a true christian nation is asanine. when it comes to skydiving, in the short time ive been involved in the sport ive come to conclude that im a minority as a devoted christian. has it kept me from enjoying it? of course not. ive made good aquintances of many mentalities. i can keep to my beliefs, but still enjoy their company, as long as your not out there shaking your bible at everyone. besides, the trick is to lure them in slowly at first, and them baptize them in their sleep. every seasoned christian knows that. trivial scripture recitings are for amateurs. we need to talk about your flare..

***the oil and gas is offshore bro, not in the city??? Quote well, the water was to untill it decided to move into the city and flood it. ok, heres the diagnostic- there were so many black people in new orleans floating around, that from the air it looked like an oil spill. others, technicaly, its not racist since its only an observation based on the color contrast. however its easy to see how some could take it as racist, since anything that refers to somone's state of being black, other than african american is considered racist. in the end, its all up to the audience if it is or not, and since i dont have the experience to guage audiences, ill probably exclude it. looks like the nose blow one is a no go as well. good to find these things out online and not on stage. thanks for all the feedback everyone. we need to talk about your flare..

No, these arent to be lumped together nor are they in there refined stages. I have a cohesive acts, with good bridges, but these are just particular parts that I couldnt tell if the audience would get. Most of the act is just complaining, with one liners paced throughout. theyre all in their infancy. we need to talk about your flare..

Yes, you are probably right. Time though, has a way of changing the context of things good or bad, and you never know how people will take it, and somtimes comedians hit the jack pot playing off these. Though in this case, perhaps its in poor taste and probably shouldnt be used. we need to talk about your flare..

Im doing my first stand up routine next week. I have a few one-liners im thinking of throwing in the bit that Im iffy on, but I think too much of my own sense of humor, and need to test the waters with the online masses first. 1. "They say that if you ignore a problem long enough, it will go away.. That just might be the ticket to solving world hunger." 2. "I like to use the handicap stalls because I know theres a better chance the seat hasnt been pissed on as much...I just hope I dont get a ticket." 3. "The assuring thing about dating jewish girls, is that theyre kosher, so their alot cleaner to eat." 4. "When I was flying over Louisiana, I thought we had another major oil spill, but apparently it was just a densly populated black neighborhood that had been flooded" (this is probably crossing the line) 5. "I dated this reall tall dame once, and boy Ill never forget how good my nose felt every time she got back up from her knees." Well, theres a small sample to see if Im on the right track or way off. You have to picture them incorporated into an act. Some can be elaborated on, but some may need to be scratched, so dont hold back. Ofcourse there will be the usual filler about asians and gay roomates and such. if youre in the LA area next weekend, I could use a few well-placed laughs as well. we need to talk about your flare..

http://pepperdine.facebook.com/profile.php?id=160200232&hiq=shayne%2Csmith i think its a little more sleeze proof than the other cyber-rape sites like myspace, although i have one of those to. you have to actualy be friends before you can picture-stalk someone, and that just doesnt fly with most of the questionable chumps out there. we need to talk about your flare..

Tom, Feel free to implode this if need be. I believe I have gotten all the constructive advice I can hope to. Several people have in fact been helpful and dropped me a line. Corky seems to be the general consensus, so I will try to sniff him out when I go to Taft this weekend. Im sure he will be able to point me in the right direction from there. thanks Tom and everyone else. shayne we need to talk about your flare..

Part of the motiviation behind getting into skydiving for me was to serve as a means into the BASE world, a gateway drug if you will. I devote most of my jumps to tracking and canopy skills with base in mind as my future goal. The thing is, I am working to achieve somthing I have never seen first hand. The aspects of the sport that apeal to me are only those Ive read/seen through research (some aspects not so appealing). After reading various articles from Tom, Blinc, ect. and forums, crewing seems to be the only way to get immersed, and is the only thing short of jumping yourself that will tell you if you are persuing the right endevour. I now have only 40 skydives, but it would be nice to be building my perspective and inventory of knowledge of BASE, so that when I get to the point experience wise that I can competantly try it myself, I can make an educated decision on if i need to continue my persuit of BASE. I do not want to sound like one of those kids who gets hyped up from seeing a movie with a base jump on it, then comes on and says "man, that shits tight/hardcore, im gonna try dat shhit" . I am just seeing if anyone can point me in the right direction to getting my foot in the door on a personal level. In other words, I want to make helpful contacts in the real world. If it helps, I just moved to Malibu, and started jumping at Taft. So far, I just get the half smirked head nod and a "thats cool" when Ive hinted at base. I will shoot straight with everyone, I want to be made aware of the risks first hand, and I dont want to put my future at risk due to a blimished record. With school ending, it would be a good time to get some real life perspective on teh sport. Yikes. That said, tell me if I am being a bit pre-mature here, or if anyone would even take me seriously at my current stage. viele danke, shayne we need to talk about your flare..

accordint to what i saw on spike last night, it fell through. tito didnt show up to weigh in and called white and told him "he was going to let him off the hook". the impression the show gave was that dana was jumping through hoops to finally get the gaming commison to license the fight, and then was stood up last minute at the weigh in by ortiz. i do not think it is going to happen. we need to talk about your flare..

any reason to be suspicious? hasty replies needed
spiccoli replied to spiccoli's topic in Gear and Rigging
thanks everyone for all the insight. the problem sort of worked itself out. the seller did in fact end up sending me photos (albeit on another email) and provided the dimensions which did not end up being in the ball park.i cant say this guy isnt on the level, but most of you are right, and i think it would be best for everyone at play if people are more forthcoming and thorough with information when buying/selling on here so everyone can be confident. and so the quest continues.. we need to talk about your flare.. -

Yes, that brings me to another thing I want to run by everyone. I need to make sure my statement regarding the canopies being too big for the container was correct. The ad says the container is a 2000 Javelin J2. I looked at sunpath's sizing chart, and it said up to 150, but i understand some canopies pack differently. Also, the container is several years old, so there is the posibility it doesnt apply? The canopies are a sabre2 170 and 181 (raven i think). Could somone who knows more about what their looking at check on this for me and confirm? we need to talk about your flare..
