  1. I apollogise. Just seemed to make sense. To watch that and "speculate" if it could have made a difference...I saw all the things about "the video" that the vidiots see-hand , foot , clawing/ clinging...etc. With your experience, man I posted here because of what I SEE! Safety and training. Can you realy tell me that you won't tighten laterals a little more on your next paying customer? I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  2. I'm sorry, but if loosing a passenger out of a rig at 3k isn't "sensational" I hope I never jump with you! And I hope "not required" is not a prevention to a cure. If tightening the laterals could have saved her life, it's ok if it's "not required?" A H.A.N.S device was'nt required at Daytona either... but Earnhardt didn't have a passenger. If the girl in that vid had a 80 lb. butt... on that little stature, she would have been a gonner. I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  3. I was just wondering if having the lowers tighter might help prevent a short pear shaped person from coming through there. I understand that the passengers harness needs to fit properly first. Thanks for shedding light on this for me, as I obviously dont have anywhere near your experience or knowledge. I'm constantly grilled and drilled for safety and I'm glad for any feedback to my questions. But still, Could it have made a difference? I believe its the 2nd deployment in the vid I'm referring to. I certainly dont question any instructors methods or abilities here, and I like the vid. It was just an observation. Thanks, Blue skies I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  4. after recent tragedies, Bless all those involved. I was watching my vids I have downloaded and read all the ugly speculative posts about tandem harnesses. If you havnt seen this vid or have, Please take the time to watch the camera angle below angles of the 3 or 4 tandems at deployment. also freefall tension on lower connecting points. You CAN and WILL see how this can happen. You can dam near read the label on the one students back at deployment. On a couple of others they look pretty tight. I felt it appropriate to mention it here after reading all the flaming bulldogging I read here. Experienced or not, worth a look. Hope it opens some eyes. Cool video anyway. I was almost in shock at the amount of separation! Good example for TI's to watch I would think. I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  5. on my 1st tandem jump, the vidiot asks me in the plane, so your ready to go huh? me: oh yea , I'm ready! (smiling) him: Oh yea you'll be just fine! ...as my TM is holding up my shoulder hooks and puts her hands over mouth as if in disbelief! And on my lvl 6 jump, my instructor actually told me he really wasn't an instructor,BUT he DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. lol like the commercial I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  6. did my lvl 9 today, I want to do my high solo as a high pop. Tell you next week! I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  7. at 40 to 50 mil a year, build your own tower and staff it! for the industry you've built there! SKYDIVING! 195 private pilots can wait thier turn-as they are used to at every other destination. It will really suck if you pay taxes for it to be built , and then staffed by the FAA. Then get put on back burner. Yep! move elsewhere then take that 40 or 50 mil and build skydive heaven in anybodys county! They'll be glad to have you! DO IT FOR YOURSELF! 195 pilots and a jerkwater behind a desk....hmmmm. Get together and get a permit and build and control your tower! The best reason to do this is for safety and control. Yea,sounds easy, not my money or location. Or you can have to pay for it and loose it to... A DZ with its own tower? anybody think of that? as opposed to a tower on your DZ? I'm a contractor,A hop at lunch would be nice... I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  8. Hi again all. goin for lvl9 this saturday. I'm soooo pumped! I would also like to express my condolences to any one that I have or haven't met in my new skydiving family in light of recent tragedies. Blue skies to all of you, your familys and friends. At my lvl , and age I guess, I have certainly weighed all of the risks and benefits of this wonderful sport. I'm definatly hooked. My only regret being that I did'nt start jumping 20 years ago. Anyhow, for now,my dog thinks diving exits and front flips in the kitchen is pretty hilarious. Blue skies all..see you saturday I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  9. My instructor said he would give chase to 1800. Then I get an indexfinger on one hand and a middle finger on the other Peace. I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  10. Yea, I see that. I just try to concentrate on the jump I'm doing at that time. One at a time. Thanks for the reply Blue skies... ***"It"ll only hurt for a little while" I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  11. Grew up riding motorcycles...sadly...the statistics say ..skydiving is safer. Damn! I'm new to skydiving, BUT!... Helmets work, Seatbelts work, Rollcages work,Leather works,...sorry,(happily?)tested all the above.smile! Probably the safest sport I've tried so far! Hope it stays that way and gets better! goog luck, and Blue skies... I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!

  13. I asked at the dz, Its a case after lvl 11, then a bonfire. No beer till the last plane is tied down. Did my lvl5 and 6 yesterday. They'll be seeing alot more of me this summer! I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  14. lol. She wont even consider a tandem, thats ok,it's not for everybody...I understand that. Besides,so far , there seems to be some real cuties around my dz. I'll just wait till she fires me a third time , and stay fired! Did my lvl5 and 6 yesterday. I'm sure they'll be seeing alot more of me this summer! Blue skies... I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  15. Thanks for the info, now I only have to remember to PLF and not Arch! if I walk off the walkboard at work tomorrow 2 stories up ,gazing at the sky...*** It only hurts for a little while... I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  16. Yea, I understand that...even with my big ol' 4 jumps, hopefully 2 or 3 tomorrow. But thats to be wary of all forum posts. At 42 I've done insane speed rappels inverted from 150' feet.No belay and actually gave the rock I stopped at a gentle kiss. 16 times in 1 day! Hope I'm getting smarter skydiving!*** I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!

  18. ***I hope/and hope not/ I'm a newb here-the site and skydiving world. Some people joke around-safetyjest I hope all of you dont take offense. Just the name threw me...SAFETY is my #1. No offense intended, But posted name ,I dont know you. I could only hope you were joking I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  19. How the hell could anyone take seriously something like this posted by someone named safteyjest Do I hope I'm right or wrong? I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  20. I'm new here. I've noticed ,reading forums here, that There seems to be differences in AFF progression by DZ or location. My local DZ is 11 lvls-not 11 jumps, and the first 4 are tandems. You must meet each jumps requirements to pass to the next lvl. I Like This progression (for myself). I think it really has a safety benefit.Awareness and stability and learning to fly! Tomorrow is a 4-6 hr. ground class then my (first AFF solo?)...5 or 11...I'm pretty sure I'm buy'in some beer. I'm sure I'll do another lvl or 2. Thanks for a great informative site and the positive feedback. (Guess I'm hooked on ("nylon crack"). Blue skies all...*** I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  21. It's called a "futon" I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  22. LOL! Thanx, thats cool about the beer. But Quality mentoring...hmmm...looks good at my DZ! I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  23. After which lvl am I supposed to buy the beer? 5 or 11? Please don't say ALL! Spending all my money jumping! I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  24. I'm going for my lvl5 wednesday.I get excited when the door opens now instead of nervous! Watched a guy do a vectored diving exit with hands and arms back and feet together on my lvl3 jump. He peeled away like a fighter plane...most beautiful thing I ever saw. Main thing is to relax(this is FUN!) Mentally making the jump several times first helps alot. Im always more nervous about missing a prcp,or alt.check,or a wave off. Watch the other exits, you might get lucky and see a real pro like I did. Now my mouth only gets dry from airbrushing my teeth! Good luck and try to relax, after all...you already know whats outside that door... Blue skies I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
  25. Yes,I understand... I'm fine...crazy people don't know they're crazy...No,Really!
