The Marines must be hard up. They are recruiting their men from Nigeria, now.

What we're not ready for is a mixed race person who only claims one side of his heritage because it's politically convenient, and playing to a large portion of the population because they believe that they are owed.

Sadly, I'm afraid she's going to be another Janis Joplin, because she won't go to rehab.

In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There will never be another Patsy Cline … -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some might come surprisingly close to the original. . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe that she has a very generic singing voice. She can carry a tune, but still generic. Upon hearing her voice on the radio, I'd never say to myself, "Damn, who is that? I've got to buy her music.?" Unlike Amy Winehouse.

If she didn't have that going for she wouldn't be on stage. She's no Patsy Cline.

For some reason, the rules of the road go right out the window, once you're in charge of a shopping cart. My complaint is that when the store is new, there's almost room for three wide. As they get more stock, they just keep shoving the aisles closer together.

First, Hillary, now, you. Oh, that's Osama!

Well, sir. When you lay a bunch of rules on your children, Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not lie, etc. etc. and they tell you to bite it because you've got no authority, what are you going to do?

Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would you rather have an employee who operates on the premise that a quality life leads to an eternal reward, and therefore, does his best all day long, regardless of who's watching, or someone who's default position is to break rules, and screw the man? As long as someone in authority is watching, then he's at his task, but the minute the boss is gone, he starts slacking. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You didn't answer the question. Which person would you prefer to hire. The one who does a good job, as unto the Lord, or the schmoe who sees you as nothing more than a paycheck, and looks to screw you over, at every turn?

In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why should I obey a made up rule by a made up man, in a made up book? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why would you suddenly embrace a rule who's origin is a book which you despise? How many other rules in that book might be helpful to the living of a quality life, but have been rejected by a secular society, because they hate the idea of an invisible authority figure?

So basically, we are still relying on fear, whether it be from the immediate punishment of man or the eternal punishment of a god, to get the job done? The upside to a god is that you believe that you are under an ever watchful eye. Going 80 in a 60 is no big deal if you don't think that the man is sitting around the corner. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the skydiver climbs onto the plane, someone mentions that there's an FAA inspector on site. Do you think he's going to punch a cloud just for the fun of it, or is he going to do his best to find the biggest hole? He's only obeying the law out of fear. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An atheist can arguably do whatever he or she likes morally. Not through a fear of any consequences, but through a lack of standard social morality. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So basically, we are still relying on fear, whether it be from the immediate punishment of man or the eternal punishment of a god, to get the job done? I'll say that one of the biggest problems is liberalism, as we know it today. I'm sure it started earlier than the '60's, but that's when the big push started. It was an attitude of defiance to any kind of authoritianism, regardless of how sound the rules were. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The problem is that liberalism couldn't sort out the rules that were BS and those that would have long term consequences if they were broken. Breaking all rules was the only rule.

I'll say that one of the biggest problems is liberalism, as we know it today. I'm sure it started earlier than the '60's, but that's when the big push started. It was an attitude of defiance to any kind of authoritianism, regardless of how sound the rules were. If prim and proper was the status quo, then bawdiness must be the counterpunch. It has infected our society like some insidious disease, for which there is no cure. We can take this right down the line. If intellect and achievment were the rule of the day, then stupidity and indifference was what the hip people sought after. Liberalism has decided to open any and every Pandora's Box, never even considering the long term effects. As long as they could stick it to the man, they could care less about the fact that their grandchildren might be smacking them in the face and taking the car keys, regardless of the rules they laid down. Just to note, I am not innocent. I've just come to my senses.

It'll only take one moment of breaking the rules that even you have put in place for yourself, to end up with a lifetime of regret.

Kind of like turning the husband's picture face down while doing poolboy?

It's a lot like telling someone not to try returning from a long spot while passing five perfectly good outs. It'll bite you in the ass.

For the price of two hours of coaching, I could buy a cheap hooker.

In the socialist's mind, mediocrity is celebrated, and individual success is punished. They just threw the money right back into the face of one of the most successful men in the world. OTOH, if they could have forced Bill Gates to give up that money, they'd have gladly taken it.

Nothing? What happens when you walk through an automatic door?

If you want a job done right, do it yourself.

Sounds like much of the same stuff the New Age "Spiritual" movement spouts. They are spiritual, just not religious, so this makes them a little smarter. They don't buy into all of that religious crap. They are one with the Earth, blah, blah, blah.

I thought it was oil.
