Yes that would be a type of freedom. And? Because children are different. Children are still developing the ability to make decisions. When they are adults it changes. Even though many adults never learn how to make good decisions on a regular basis they were at least given enough time to have a chance. They can still drive a car on private property. True but I still don't feel the need for more laws for those with poor judgement when they can only hurt themselves. People die skydiving. How would you feel if they tried to make it illegal? It would save lives right? Of course I'm not for anything like that either. There's a line, there's always a line. Sometimes it's just hard to find. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Everything and everybody comes from you feeling bad and making a law because of that. Now if people were dropping out of the sky and landing on others, their cars, their houses, etc I could understand a law about jumping locations or similar but not when they're only a risk to themselves. I'm all for promoting safety and if a dz wants to enforce rules then fine. But that is much different then "hey I feel bad so lets make a law". That is where I see your mentality so no jumping to conclusions there. You want an example? I ride motorcycles, always in helmet and at least a jacket and gloves. Used to only be in full leathers even. When I see guys riding around without a helmet I think they're stupid. I advise new riders of the benefits of gear and push friends to wear it as well. But I will never try to force my opinions on others especially in the form of laws. If I feel that strongly about what another is doing I merely won't ride with them. I don't care how experienced you are nor how well a problem is documented as it has nothing to do with my belief that legislation is not the answer. If you're scared of backlash from being sued then fix the actual problem which is the legal system. I do not think my solution is at all inhumane. Quite the opposite. I think empowering people to be responsible for themselves is more humane. Sorry but I'm not willing to give up my freedoms so easily. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Genius. Given any thought to the backlash from you killing yourself on the same DZ I'm trying to work/play? Bad press, cops all over the place, lawyers oozing out from under rocks, other jumpers having to witness your stupidity. Yeah, you sound like a considerate, well thought-out individual, and I can see why people would rather do things your way then to side with me and my 'crazy' ideas for logical downsizing progressions and continuing education. What ever was I thinking?!?! You were thinking you should legislate everything and everybody to conform with your way of thinking. Very selfish. Your mindset is what's wrong with our society now. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Doesn't matter who your ideas are for they are still intrusive. I don't want to be legislated just because you'll feel bad if I kill myself. Your would be 'status quo' is the problem. Let people be responsible for themselves and any would be problems will sort themselves out. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

I've always been partial to the R1 myself. Although I would love the R125 I think it is as well. Both for the track and commuting. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

10th Puerto Rico Freefall Festvial 2012
BrokenR1 replied to vivfreeflying's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I'm in. Registered online, I hope. Didn't get a confirmation or anything via email. Will there be one? Now I gotta figure out where to rent a car from and where to stay. Is there any one place where the majority are staying? I don't really know anyone in the community. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art. -
Skydivers and kiteboarders unite in the Bahamas
BrokenR1 replied to TikiMan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been thinking about getting into kiteboarding. I like it better than a jet ski since it lacks the gas expense and will fit into my car and apartment. It also seems like it pairs up nicely with skydiving. If I have time I might take some lessons in March. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art. -

But what about after? You think it could work for a while? Not permanently but for a time. Paying for two places is expensive, especially when you're still paying for the difference of a house in another state and your renter. There's no way to apply a generic answer to that. It depends on the people and how the relationship ended. When my ex moved back in with me as a friend/ housemate, we'd already had some time apart and I think that made a lot of difference. I doubt it would have been a good idea just to continue sharing immediately after we separated as a couple. The other real crunch point would come if/ when one of you meets someone else. That could feel very awkward, not just for their ex-partner but for their new flame too. All true, All true. Well the time it takes to conduct legal proceedings may be enough to square things away. I may end up moving depending on where I find a job as well. Hmmm, what's it like to live on a small sailboat? Is it hard to learn to sail? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Who says it's gotta be long distance? Where did you end up getting a job? I don't remember. I'll be out of a job in three months so I could just stay with you! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Bring your own roommate. Ah, well I'm always up for sharing! I have some requirement issues to work out and a small window to do so. If I go to both I'll have 3-10 days before the PR event and another 10 days between that and this event to get a dozen jumps, some water training, and pass a test. The water part will probably be the only hang up scheduling wise. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=218890344808456 though you'll have to figure out which women are already BYOR. Ok, I tried to search for it before sounding dumb but Bring Your Own Restraints doesn't fit into your sentence although it would still be useful. Please explain BYOR. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

Hmmm.... Can we select a roommate or is that an extra charge? I'm going to need a list of all women attending. But really I'm thinking about attending the Puerto Rico freefall festival and this one. But really really, where's that list? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

I disagree. In marriages most of the time the other person does not expect it when it happens and I think dating would follow suit. That's "most" of the time. If you've been dropping hints such as "I don't want to see you ever again" then they should be thinking something is up. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.

While technically true that wouldn't work. People who want to come here legally have the opportunity and many do. However we cannot allow everyone to. There has to be a limit and it needs to be enforced. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.
-
Yes yes, screw over all the people trying to do the right thing and come here legally. Make illegals legal, it worked last time right? With regards to some of the other points in that letter I did find some info. Some of this is dated so I don't know what current laws are currently being enforced but... http://www.gao.gov/products/HEHS-98-30. http://articles.latimes.com/2004/jun/11/local/me-housing11 etc. etc. Also, I do know some that pay taxes as well but most do not. Like I said I didn't write it but I have seen many parts of it myself to be true. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rap is to music what etch-a-sketch is to art.
