Who else is fucked up on whisky or some other foul thing?
MrFreefall383 replied to MrFreefall383's topic in The Bonfire
I sure am. This is how I settle those really stressful times. Things were lingering from over a month ago, new things added to it, so here I am a bit screwy on Maker's Mark, and considering another shot. Drown the problems for a few hours, wake up a little hungover but feeling significantly more relaxed, works everytime. Who else is feelin' the same way? Yeah, that would be slightly weird. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

The friend I first jumped with was like that, thought he was hot shit because he's now jumped out of an airplane, but would probably never do it again if only for the fact that he can't afford it. Guess what? I can't afford it either, but I'm doing it anyway. Fuck living rich, skydive baby! As for coming down on a high, I did too, but I limited it to internal satisfaction, knowing that it would only get more interesting when I started training for my licensure. Great, you've jumped out of an aircraft, but what's it mean unless you're ballsy enough to do it again? "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Yes, and they all think I'm nuts. Of course when they know me a little better, they'll know I'm nuts, they won't have to think about it. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

I'm more "work to live" type, but I wish there was an option for somewhere in the gray fuzziness between workaholic and lazy shitbag. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

windcatcher, I wouldn't personally be able to prove you right, I think it's quite sexy. Though I've heard other guys say it. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

What's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you ?

"I'm naming my first kid after you." I promptly told him he should reconsider, because association with me in any way is bad luck. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche -
Manual tranny for me. Only way to go. I'm going to be driving stick until my body won't let me. At which point I'll dump my savings on an Aston Martin, and live the rest of my life in happiness. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Awesome movie. Seen it twice now, just as impressive both times. 007 is the man. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

I usually run distance, but if I know I'm only running a mile, I could probably end up well below the 7 minute mark. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Good deal, congrats McBeth. ;) "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Since no one has started a real running thread this week, I'll do the honors. For those of you doing the Couch-to-5k or 10k, feel free to update your progress, otherwise just put in whatever progress you may have made in the running world. As for me, I ran 3 miles Monday night. It was a perfect night for it too. Half moon, no wind, just cold enough to be comfortable, weird glow over the whole track. Kind of felt like a spec ops soldier running into a combat zone with all my black Under Armour and black shooting gloves. Makes for interesting motivation. Ran 3 miles, busted my butt for it, and completed the run in 23 minutes, 35 seconds, less than an 8 minute mile. I'm satisfied, so I'm going to slow it down a touch and bump up to 4 miles next Monday after I get back from Washington, DC. More good news. After only two days of working for this new company as a temporary, they already offered me a full-time position as a customer service representative. I must've done something right. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Finally started making money today. And ran 3 miles in under 24 minutes. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Its been too long, lets chat about guns.
MrFreefall383 replied to AggieDave's topic in Speakers Corner
I've fired a P99 chambered in 9mm, I think I fired about 150 rounds from it. It's been months, but what I remember of it was that it didn't feel natural at all. It was kind of like the average Glock, in that the grip attempts to keep the barrel in line with the shooter's forearm, but it tends to feel extremely weird, and therefore throws off the aimpoint of an otherwise decent shooter after firing 1911s, Sigs, HKs, and other handguns with fairly neutral grips. Another question for you gun guys in here. I had a chance to hold an FN Herstal FS2000, and it felt amazing. I want to fire it next time I go to the range, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any online dealers that are better than Impact Guns. I look at their site as a reference, but I'm realizing they don't have my support for purchasing a rifle. Specifically, I'm looking for a good reputation with better pricing. Damn, I'm jealous. That looks like so much fun. I need to get back into flying. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche

Promised a full review of the Under Armour cold compression gear, so here it is. Finally got the compression legging to complete the set last night after work. Came home from work tonight and went right out to do another 3 miles on the track. Dark as hell, could hardly see the lines, but that's what I'm all about. When I walked from my car to the track, my hands were already getting very cold, so I put my shooting gloves on in order to keep them at a reasonable temperature. Took 10 minutes to stretch, and during that time my whole body started getting a little chilly. Might've been about 45-50 degrees out, so it would make sense that I was getting chilly. The weird part is that I didn't get much colder than that. And when I started running, my body warmed up a little bit. Normally in weather that cold, everything starts freezing after a few laps, and I can't feel my face after 3 miles. Shortly into the run this time, my whole body was reasonably warm, and my face never got numb. In fact, my face was nice and cool, regulated by the rest of my body temperature. Needless to say, I'm very impressed by how good Under Armour cold compression gear really is. I suggest it for anyone who wants to run outside in the cold. Plain and simply, it WORKS.
