  1. I have a UPT semi-bag already (2 actually) for smaller containers/canopies (I own a Vector too).. it's for the second rig. I'm specifically interested in the Infinity - UPT combo (ideally I-44 but any experience is good)
  2. Have been speaking with UPT regarding their semi-stowless bag fit for Infinity I-44.... and based on measurements we came up with trying the V348 bag. Does anyone have experience with fitting the right UPT bag into Infinity container? Any riggers would like to comment as to why it should not be done? I actually have the Infinity party bag but do not like it, hence the idea to fit a UPT bag in. Has anyone done it? I'm not 100% committed on doing it, but want to try. Would like some feedback from the community. Thanks!
  3. haha Ray is such a loser. I'm happy for those guys and wish I could have been part of that. //I think he is seriously hurt after one left and opened his own DZ
  4. Hold on! How about time value of money? So the money someone paid in 1985 has been pissed down the drain? If you look at the Dow Jones for years 1985-2005, you can see a 795.47% increase (Jan 1 '85 - Jan 1 '05), so allocating the money in the DJIA would yield $4375 for the $550 paid up front. $550 with inflation according to online calculator was worth about $993 in 2005... So how was all that lifetime membership money pissed away exactly?
  5. for what you're doing it's not worth the money for the trip. You are better off buying more time in Orlando.
  6. Yeah, I am aware that newer software also uses GPU for rendering, but from what OP posted, my guess is on an older laptop (09/10) with integrated graphics, or maybe something like ATI Radeon that were shipped with Toshibas for example. Anyway, RAM won't do it. Many factors to consider - formats, usage, etc. My best bet would be to invest in new hardware if it's for professional (tandem operation where speed is crucial) use, or just deal with it if it's just occasional home processing (leaving final rendering overnight, etc) /but i'm not an expert. just more of an IT geek
  7. What Spot said, many variables. Rendering is very CPU heavy though, so easy answer is to get as fast CPU as possible (your dual core Athlon is pretty outdated for heavy tasks). RAM won't help you, it's mostly in CPU.
  8. You don't even know how sad I was to read this and see her cute picture! Then I got ecstatic reading that you found her! We have a rescue cat as skittish/scared as yours and I'm always afraid she would never come back if she managed to escape/get locked out. I'm very happy for you, man! Rock on!
  9. Not picking here but a bit confused. Are you saying you can jump a camera with less than 200 jumps IF you have a helmet cutaway for your full face but if you have an open face you don't need a cutaway and after 200 jumps your DZ doesn't require you to have a cutaway for either?? Cutaways are required on all helmets prior to 200 jumps. This DZ has a policy that *if you have 100 jumps AND you have had training/briefing time with the S&TA or chief instructors (not just a 'yeah, looks OK, and do you know XXX?) AND your helmet has a cutaway system Then you'll likely be allowed to jump a single, small format camera. Ahh, that makes sense. At first it read as if nobody was allowed to jump without a cutaway system. So, should I get gopro3 or wait for an hardware update?
  10. So nobody ever jumps full face helmets (G3, Z1, Factory Diver) with gopros in Elsinore like it is popular on every dropzone I've ever seen so far? No freeflyers?
  11. I've been to a few world class dropzones that did not ask for a logbook or even a reserve card. Just renewed my waiver, showed license and added money to the account (even after not jumping there for months/years at a time)
  12. http://www.guidestar.org/ I also have PDFs since 2006: 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011
  13. It has taken me hours so far (but flying both daffys and hook - TONS of net drills), and I still have a long way to go. And I started with hours on belly/back/sit and transitions, etc. I'm not a natural by any means though and I fatigue fast, so there's that
  14. Living in Spain is not supporting UAE, unless you disagree.
  15. I would move to Empuriabrava if I were you. Great weather all year long, great staff, 14ft wind tunnel. And they were just purchased by the prince of Dubai so I'm sure lot more good things will come their way! (I wouldn't move to UAE for the human rights factor, etc although it was a good experience jumping there for me)
  16. I will pay what I will be required to pay by the dz. Then simply jump less to stay within my budget.
  17. You have only yourself to blame. Take some responsibility for your life. Or take up bowling.
  18. you guys need outside video?
  19. Thanks, Michal - I'm familiar with that one as well. I just asked because Electronaut referenced a tail strike, not a mid-flight collision. ahh, true - my misread
  20. Sqwrl, That same week in 2009 during the record we had a jumper on my load saved by his Cypres after freefall collision while approaching the formation. He landed on the golf course unconscious but was back (but not jumping) the next day.
  21. Wow, that's cool although I have no desire to ever get one I think PF/Tony are still top notch companies, and am waiting for Squirrel suits to get my hand on
  22. but didn't that experiment of pf simply copied tony's new then design that become the i/t/r/s/x-bird? except it was to show the ridiculousness of the size of tony suits? it was revolutionary and tony was first on the market and you simply cannot deny that.
