And guess what the allied nations include Germany, Spain, Britain, as well as countries like Ghana, Sri Lanka, etc etc.

They're more interested in ratings so they report crisis type topics. I work with America's youth everyday. I'm a U.S. Army Officer and every duty station i'm at I have young Soldiers recently graduated from high school that work with/for me. In the 12 years I have been in the U.S. Military I have yet to see the hordes of brainless American youth portrayed in the show. And to be perfectly honest we don't really get the cream of the crop from the country in terms of family life situation, economic background, etc, etc. I'm only 30 but I remember high school being fucking boring back in the early 90's. I asked my dad and he said the same thing about high school in the 60's. I guess my point is that I think the U.S. is still number one! Fuck 20/20

the pre-conditions argument is semantics, Obama is not saying that he'll sit across from these folks and bend over and readily make concessions. He's just saying bluntly cutting off ties doesn't work. its not idealism, its reality, you can't wait to have diplomatic talks until all your major differences are resolved, In general lack of diplomatic missions to a country just polarizes the relationship into a perfect us vs. them. and any conservative voice in the country (Iran for example) gets weakened and the anti-U.S folks get stronger.

towered? not at all. McCain and Obama were both ok. a tie I think. McCain in my opinion did to much appeal to emotion style tactics. I'm voting Obama so obviously i'm skewed. I'll do my own appeal to emotion though... and Gawain this is a general statement not related to your post. I am sick of hearing about the "surge this" the "surge that" and how we supposedly saved Iraq, the surge worked. Duh, we're the Army give us enough troops and we'll make an area secure, but the surge wasn't about that, it was supposed to give the defunct Iraqi BS gov't time to lead themselves out of a hole, and they havn't yet. we're still rolling deep in Iraq and we (the Army/USMC don't see an end). Since 2003 its not new troops going every year, its the same fucking troops over and over and over again. The surge to me was the news I got from CNN that I had to stay an additional 3 more months after I already was in Iraq for 12 months. And yes... during that 3 months more of our soldiers got carried on C-17s to go home. During one ceremony we watched 12 caskets go by the formation on their final way home. SCREW this talk about the surge, only Obama mentioned any kinda of talk about relief for our soldiers for constant deployments. All McCain does is talk about idealism and memorial bands from dead soldiers mom's, yet he still supports sending us to Iraq over and over again when the real war is in Afghanistan. sorry guys i'm just sick of this political usage of the surge in debates. no disrespect to SEN McCain, I know he suffered too, but damn guy, WE ARE DANGEROUSLY OVER EXTENDED! refocus the war.
