  1. Having lived here almost my intire life I tend to get tired of FL and take it for granted.. but we really do have it pretty good down here.
  2. Yes you are correct. I was mostly referring to the extremist as they are the ones that turn this stuff into such a big issue. Life is to short to waste time on figuring it out. I'm just going to assume that when I die everything will be answered... unless what you believe is the afterlife you create for yourself.. in which case I might be in trouble!
  3. Alright I will agree with that. I have a purebred boxer (not trying to brag, I just enjoy boxers and I got her cheap anyway) and I looked for over a year before I decided on her because I did NOT want to support someone who was breeding their dogs purely for profit. I never purchase animals from pet shops for that reason. My dog will have a litter one day, for her health as it reduces the risk of cancer, they will be purebred just to keep the line going. They will also be sold at just enough to cover the cost of having the litter, as my dog was.
  4. Closeness and intimacy are not a bad thing.. However there are no other animals on this planet (that I know of, please correct me if I'm wrong) that breast feed their offspring up to 8 years old. Granted humans take much longer to mature compared to the rest of the animal kingdom, I think it is important for a child to start becoming independent as soon as they are able too. I just think it could cause a mental dependency that could effect the child in his/her adult life in a negative way. Then again I'm not a mother (or a woman for that matter), a child who was breast feed till 8 years old, or a psychologist so my opinion means absolutely nothing.
  5. I am certainly against puppy mills and animal cruelty. However, that statement is NOT always true. Not every pure bred came from a puppy mill and not every pet store gets their animals from puppy mills. You might say, you are possibly supporting puppy mills and should do some research and ask some questions before purchasing that animal.
  6. I'm by no means religious, pretty much an agnostic, but I do believe there is more than likely a higher power. Either way, I don't understand why scientific and religious beliefs can't co-exist? If there is a "god" or "almighty creator" wouldn't he/she/it have also created evolution, physics, and everything else to do with life and our world? Who knows, I'm not going to get a headache worrying about it.
  7. I see you like anything to do with the ocean. If you decide on a trip and make it FL let me know. You could jump, fish, and surf, all within a 20 mile radius!
  8. LMAO! I can see why they keep their ladies wrapped up. Now I'm going to be on a mission to convert girls in burkas!
  9. My last cat looked identical to yours. I couldn't tell you what kind it is because I found my cat and her brother behind a bar one night when I was stumbling home. My ex-g/f has my cat now and my buddy has the male. Good looking cats though for sure.
  10. I just recently heard on the radio about a woman who breast feeds her 8 year old son and her 5 year old daughter. That is EXTREME to me, I couldn't imagine being 8 years old and breast feeding, other kids would certainly be picking on you for that. It's got to cause some kind of mental issues with the child, talk about being a mama's boy.
  11. I've only done 2 tandems, going to start AFF soon, but I know what you are talking about. You should move down to Florida, we got plenty of room for you down here. Weather is usually pretty decent, doesn't get real cold but a handful of days, with the odd hurricane or four..
  12. Also because cats are psychotic, at least every cat I've owned. One minute you are petting them and they are purring, the next minute they are attacking you for no reason... And because she isn't my dog Leela, still a good looking cat, specially for a stray.
  13. Welcome! I'm also about to start AFF, I did two tandems (mostly because I was to poor to start AFF and wanted to go again) and one is certainly all it takes to be addicted. My friends are really tired of hearing about skydiving, I think they're just jealous, which is why I came to the forums. Good luck with your AFF!
  14. LOL... my truck isn't even that new. I don't even go out and drink much with my friends because I'm putting ALL my extra money to skydiving. That is the only thing on my mind and has been for a few months now. Just took me a little while to get a second job so I can really start saving!
  15. Would love to, and thank you for the invite. Unfortunately I am tied up working saturday and sunday from 12pm-5pm for awhile. At least until I get enough money to start AFF. Although I might be able to come out before work. I'll see what I can do, I would really enjoy that, I'll let you know if I decide to show up. Sent you a PM also.
  16. Yeah I think I do... My family and girlfriend are worried. I've pretty much been an unguided slacker my whole life. They've never seen me so motivated and determined to do something, EVER! I'm planning on shipping out to Coast Guard boot camp early next year (long waiting list). I've done nothing but work and party since I got out of high school 6 years ago. Nothing excited me, didn't have any desire to go to college to get training for some job I didn't want to do. So I figured I better get serious and do something and be responsible, yada yada yada.... and all that junk. Well now that I found skydiving I'm working as hard as I can to make it happen before I go so maybe I won't have to. I'd have to get permission to skydive from the Coast Guard, that doesn't sit to well with me.
  17. Thanks for the Welcome! I went to Florida Skydiving Center (Lake Wales), before and after the hurricanes. I really enjoyed that place, very friendly and helpful people. I'm still shopping around for a place to take my AFF. Would go to the same place but it's a bit of a drive for me. Considering Skydive Space Center, everything I've read sounds good and they are the closest DZ to my house. Honestly there are a lot of things I'm sick of.. but we won't get into my political and social views here.. Actually Sick Of It All is an excellent NYC Hardcore band. One of the first bands that got me into the Punk/Hardcore scene, along with the Misfits (77-83 the Danzig years only, Graves is a joke). Nah, I don't think you're kidding L.O. I've been pondering selling my truck to buy the cheapest running car I can find. I've also sold some stuff I don't use that much to add some money to the skydiving fund. I am in the process of selling my favorite toy, an 87 Mazda RX-7 to also help out the fund. I'll be sleeping in my truck at a DZ soon enough and living off ramen noodles.
  18. Hey everyone! I plan on being a regular forum member from here on out so figured I would start by introducing myself. My name is Joel and I live in Orlando, FL. I've made 2 tandems (should have made one and saved the money towards AFF) and I am addicted to skydiving like a bum is addicted to change. All I dream, read, think, watch, and learn about is skydiving (and a little BASE jumping), nothing I can do to make it go away. It's better than any thing and any drug I've ever done, and dare I say better than sex? We'll call it a drawl. So, today I started a second job, I am now working 7 days and 70 hours a week so I can pay for AFF and start working towards my A license and saving for gear. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it's my dream to make skydiving my life & career. Little steps first, but I'm up and walking. Anyway, I hope to have help, support, and maybe make some friends on the forum. Peace out!
