Hey any jumpers here from Deland area or Cape Coral area? We are going to Skydive Deland and Skydive Southwest Florida and I am looking for budget accomodation near the DZ for three hot looking males
-
> Id suggest that each DZ make there own little manual for new jumpers with > equipment information and a jumper check list for the jumpers to check > themselves. I know there is one out here. Hm here there is no such manual available. Are there any good books for jumpers to educate themselves about basic rigging on modern gear?

I am really enjoying this thread. Talking about God is fun . Please keep going. Skydiving - fun, not sinful, not hurtful. Are you sure about the not hurtful part? I will take your word for it > Having sex with another woman if your wife is OK with it - fun, sinful, not hurtful. Sometimes its even more fun BECAUSE it is sinful.

ah by the way... Can someone please post about what european channels he was talking? I neeeeeeed to know ....

As said before, you seem hard on yourself ... I can relate from my training My suggestion: learn all about your dive on the ground (be prepared), and when you are in the airplane and things get hot, think of why you want to do it, think of the things that help gather your courage, relax yourself Once you are out the door, the wind will wake you up and your arms and legs will come back So don't worry too much. I've never done a tandem, directly started with AFF dives. But after watching the movie 'Cutaway' I think I missed out on some fun. So I need a cute female jumpmaster to take me up for my first tandem

I really doubt that. I think it is more than that. I know the statistics from Germany and there are more than 12000 skydivers licenced and at least 6700 licences are known to be "active" (have been recently updated). Source: http://www.fallschirmsportverband.de/downloads/Sicherheitstagung_2005/1-Zahlen-Statistik-UnfallSituation-Bastuck.pdf And this is only Germany. I'd like to think that the number of dropzones listed here might be a good indicator and taken only European dropzones outnumber US dropzones already, and US dropzones are more likely to be listed here. I think it is more likely US numbers multiplied by 3.

I had dreams that consisted of falling and being unable to stop it since my childhood. Other people have told me they felt the same kind of feeling, sometimes with slightly different themes. I think in the end it is about a confrontation with your imminent death and the feelings associated with it (helplessness, ...) But only skydivers are stupid enough to actually try it in real life. But "the empty container" would be a bit very stupid, wouldn't it?

When did you guys first jump?

22 (1st jump) But I was not badass enough to really take it up until I was 25 -
Thanks! Beautiful.

Last weekend I did a jump that sounds very boring... solo exit from a C-182 at 5000 feet taking a 9 second delay. It was a dark winter day in Germany and some clouds were on. But just as we climbed the sun broke through the very high cloud layer and shed some rays down to earth. It's hard to describe but that short skydive had something like a magic beauty to me. Everything looked so peaceful, even the Sabre 1 I jumped opened so soft so that I nearly didn't feel it. Anyone can relate to such an experience? Care to share some photos if you have? Here are some from a thread in the german forum: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2432579;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#2466753 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2432579;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=72935; just want to add: these pictures are not from me, but capture the feeling of that jump I described. Big Credits to the respective photographers!

Here comes more reassurance: Good thing to do the wind tunnel. Now you can start your AFF and know that you can fly a bit already and therefore look more relaxed toward it and in turn perform better from the start. That is how it worked for me. It isn't that hard to deploy the parachute and the rest will come with time, too

how does your parachute fly in rain? Does it fly any different?

Huh you sound pretty determined going for wingsuit base before you even have done a skydive (I suppose). To answer part of your questions, yes there are student canopies (big / docile / forgiving). But skydiving and base jumping are different in equipment used, though you can practice some skills for your later base career. You CAN use one canopy from beginning to the point where you (supposedly) are ready to base jump, but for actual base jumping you should get specific equipment. Do you mind if I ask what is your motivation for going after ws base? Maybe some video? I think you will learn alot of things along your skydiving training and it doesn't make sense to buy any major equipment until you finished your training and have more understanding. Also, think twice about the base part. Have at least someone show you a video of some base-jumping gone bad to learn about the other side of the coin. I don't know you, maybe when you stand in the door of the airplane the first time you may decide that skydiving is exciting enough for the moment. Or not. Anyway, welcome

Does it make any difference if it is a 7-cell or 9-cell design? I am about 180 lbs exit weight and the last canopy I have been playing with was a 190sqf 9-cell design (V-Tec). It was just fine, the landings were confident. There was only very light wind, though. My own canopy will be a 190sqf Spectre (7-cell), my only concern is that I will get enough penetration into the wind on high wind days.

Well with the throw her against the wall part I'd probably reconsider my choice. Still I'd make sure to get away from her as quick as possible afterwards. edit to add again: after looking at the first part again i'd stick to my original choice. been there, done that, not enjoyed it. you can have her.

I wouldn't fuck that ..... (whats the right word to use?) even if she was lying all ready on the bed after seeing this. edit to add: and i am a man and she is not exactly ugly (at least her body) so this means something

By the way, on what side of the road are you Americans driving? On the wrong side like the brits? Or is it just them ah feels better to have some fun even in serious topics. Please only make sure to get rid of your current administration as soon as possible.

I would like to add: My post should also read as a question to spark a discussion. I am interested to know what people over the pond think of this strategy (beside politics), is it clever and why?

This has probably been here 100 times before, but I just felt sad listening to the news. It sounds like there is even more violence and bloodshed to come in Iraq with more troops going there. I have no idea what is best to do in Iraq. I tend to think that this war should not have been started in the first place, but that is just speculation and not relevant in the present. I wonder if it can work this way at all - to create peace by sending more troops, more weapons. Will this really lead to any form of sustainable peace and development? It might lead to a "power-rules" situation in the short run, but peace? Even the "power-rules" situation is questionable in an environment where - as it seems - many people there are in a mindset where they don't assign their life enough value to keep them from suicide bombing. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to bash America as a country. I believe that mostly intentions are sincere (not so sure about the gov. administration though), just wondering if it is going to do any good in the long run. Sorry just had to vent my feelings after the news in the morning Andi
