Maybe you should meet and get a chance to know Dave Brown before you make public announcements calling him and others douchebags. Maybe even ask him his side of the story instead of telling everyone on an online forum that "its all about the money to them and not helping out the new generation of skydivers". I've known Dave for about three years now and I'm he'd be pretty receptive to an inquiring PM from you if you care to ask him, his DZ.com account name is 'freeflydave'. If you'd like to know more, you can find a list of some of his accomplishments here: http://www.jumptown.com/experienced/freeflying/Dave_Brown_skydiving_bio_2008.pdf When I read that list, I see someone who has given back much more to the sport, and done so much more to advance it, than anybody I know who went to Skyfest. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

Everyone who complained on here about Skyfest and did not go are people I have seen and jumped with at previous Skyfests. There are those out there who have been to EVERY Skyfest since it first started and for reasons of their own would not go to this one or to any Skyfest ever again. Most people I see attacking them (for not knowing what they're talking about) look newer to the sport and have claimed it to be their first 'big' boogie. There was a state HD record at the Skyfest last year. I was on it. It was organized by an LO who was hired to organize the event. Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FFCUMTsOCo&feature=channel_page Just some unbiased observations. Not trying to bash on anyone's boogie. I'm glad some people who went had fun. I understand why some people would not go. Just pointing out that people who made that decision are educated and experienced people who did so with more reason than just to try and shit in your cereal. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

I figured that of the 300 or so people that would be staying up late and partying, there should be at least a dozen people that want to break the state record badly enough to show some restraint! If not, then I guess our 10 way from last year stands! At last years event, we set a South Carolina state head down formation record of ten. This year, Amy and I want to see that record beat. On Sunday morning there will be a few attempts at beating last year's record. If you're interested in making a new state record and getting in on the action, let us know! I finished editing a film for the film festival... should I submit it? 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook -
So I've heard in the past that the VA vocational rehab program was much better than the GI Bill for those eligible because it covered more and gave you money per month. Has anyone put it up next to the new Post 9/11 GI Bill? It seems that the new GI Bill would be better than vocational rehab now. Anyone have any experience? Also, it used to be that in order to use vocational rehab, one could no longer use the GI bill and was refunded for it. Is still true for the new GI Bill? 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

Plenty of us jumping at Skydive Houston in Waller, TX. Big memorial day weekend boogie. Hawain luau boogie and $15 jumps. Pool party, BBQ, freefly organizing/coaching (by yours truly), wingsuit flocks, and (my favorite) STREAKING!!! 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

What Can We Do About Skyride II
SimonBones replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Some say ASC is not necessarily Skyride and have some good points. Some say ASC IS skyride and have some good points. What if the Skyride folks decided to sell ASC because their Skyride business was much more profitable and they just didn't care about ASC anymore. Another person unrelated to Skyride buys ASC. Ownership on paper changes, all the staff, equipment, facilities, jumpers, all stay the same. The day at ASC would go on as usual. Same planes with TIs doing tandems and some fun jumpers jumping with the same gang. You would walk in and notice nothing different. At that point Skyride would be in absolutely no way related to ASC, but ASC would still be the same ASC. So although I think some of the things that Skyride does are pretty rotten, I can't say that ASC is Skyride, and I would have no problem going there (and I have once). A DZ is more than just who owns it. It takes more to make a DZ be DZ than just a DZO. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook -

It certainly felt like 150F! I'm sure though that this year will be a bit cooler. Especially with Mr Bones in the house Or would that make it hotter? Wait... Am I hot or cool? Both? Neither? I... Um... Now I'm confused I make my head hurt. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook -

So in order to get the $8K, 1) The last tax return must be amended to include the 5405 page. 2)In order to amend, a 1040x form must be filled out to do so. 3) The 1040x can not be done electronically. One must print it out and mail it in. I guess I have to wait until I close next week in order to do it all. Thanks for the helpful responses, if (when) more questions come up, I'll definitely throw them out here. You may now return to trying to get other posters to post blurry, grainy, half naked photos of each other 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

Ick, I've never used a tax preparer, I've always just TurboTaxed it. I wonder if I can amend using TurboTax and if this 5405 tax form is in their system. Why do they have to make it all complicated? 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

Hmm.. No, I did not do the 2008 $7,500 thing. That one and the 2009 $8,000 credit are two different programs. The one from last year had to be repaid. This year it's just free money. Sweet sweet government hand outs! 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

If anyone out there is bored of trying to get other posters to post blurry, grainy, half naked photos of each other, maybe you can help me out. I'm buying a house and closing on it next week. I qualify for the first time homebuyer credit of $8,000. From this point I'm not sure how to get it. I've printed out IRS form 5405 and it seems I'm supposed to file this with my 2008 taxes. I've already filed my 2008 taxes and got a return. So does this have to be an ammendment to my 2008 taxes? If so how do I do that? Or can I just mail the form in to somebody somewhere and eventually a check will come? Anyone out there done this yet? 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

As much as I love Paraclete and flying in it, I wouldn't recommend it in this situation. It is the most expensive tunnel because you're paying for the size. Great tunnel if you're planning to do 8 way belly or something and split up the price, but all that money for a two way? CO and NH are a bit smaller and a bit cheaper which will be a lot easier for just two freeflyers who don't need the extra space. Over the course of your training year you'll probably save hundreds and hundreds of dollars by training at CO or NH. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook

Talk about long drive, last year I was living in Suffolk VA and made the 6 hour drive for this fabulous event. It was about 102 degrees out. I couldn't figure out why it was still so hot even with the AC on. 4 hours into the drive I realized that my seat heaters were on! Boy did I feel dumb! Even still, as long and hot as it was, it was totally worth it. 108 way head down world record!!! http://www.simonbones.com Hit me up on Facebook
