skydiving helmets are to prevent head trauma during exits and group skydives. and some of the better ones can save you ass in a midair collision. this is what i have always been told. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

Please push tandem student, literally?

then prove them wrong. every whuffo i knew refused to support me, but i just went ahead and jumped, because thats what i wanted to do. they support me now somewhat. but you are the one who has to step up and show them. no question is stupid in this sport. i have never seen a tandem student back out in the plane and ride it down. now dont get me wrong, it does happen, but not often. i think students have an urge to prove to themselves they can do this, they want to do this, and i just spent alot of money (i better do this). also, you dont want to let you TM down do you?(he/she needs his/her beer money) Step into my (sub)terminal Playground -

yes i know. demoing canopies is what i did, it is very inexpensive and a great way to choose a canopy. talk to your instructors, they will have some great advice too. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

welcome to the forums, and congrats on your first jump. i have no heard alot about this specific dz. but i am sure you will get many reviews as more skydivers reply to this. sometimes hard openings just occur, but their could have been many variables that could have caused this. -jake Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

i own this camera, and i was considering building a custom sidemount on my nvertigox. has anyone ever flown this specific model before? Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

exactly. i have flown a sabre and a spectre. both are excellent. but the sabre will smack the hell out of you every once in a while. spectre is very forgiving, great opener and flyer. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

Making such decisive and bold statements when one does not know what they are talking about could potentially make them appear to others as a dumb ass. Trust me; someone with 10,000 jumps has forgotten more about skydiving (many times over) than someone with a couple hundred has even learned yet. How could someone know how students (solo or tandem) react with zero experience working with them? A male may as well claim to know what it feels like to give birth (taking a shit does not count). I don’t think that is a personal attack, I am just sharing, or maybe preaching but not meant to be an attack. Everyone is entitled to give their opinion, you gave yours, I gave mine… well said Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

why dont you go and spend some time hanging out and chatting on the packing mat. watch what they do, ask them to explain their steps. wait till you get to packing reserves. if you do. mucho sweat involved. Step into my (sub)terminal Playground

DONT buy until you have your A license at least. you will downsize a bit as you exit student status. my canopy downsize path: 240->230->220->190 and soon i will be going to a 170. see what i mean if you buy gear now, you will most likely be downsizing not too far down the road. and thats more $$ you could be jumping with. my tip to you is when you do buy gear. buy a rig that is airworthy and used. if you are one of those stylish jumpers, then you will probably be looking for a while, but colors arent important for you first rig. but go to the classifieds tab at the top navigation bar and look around. you may want to buy the container, main, and reserve seperate. thats what i did for my first rig. good luck & blue skies jake Step into my (sub)terminal Playground
