Well gliders are good to start with, not very expensive, you might even be ok with a 2channel radio, but I think the best thing to do is just ask one of the guys at the dz, they might even let you have a go I never flew a plane, I got a heli two years ago, damn difficult to fly! I managed to smash it and it's now sitting in my bedroom. That, or go to a hobby shop and ask where they fly their models, you can go there and get a lot of info about models/costs/etc. Again, don't just get something from the net and try to fly it. Plus, a lot of these models come in bits of wood and you have to put the together, have you ever build a static model before? Good luck!
