the file folders was a strange display of fuck-knows-what.... like somehow this validates the moves you must make to separate yourself from conflicts of interest? It looked like a move an 8th grader would make when trying to impress upon someone how hard they worked on their shitty school paper. These are the amateur moves of an amateur. He talked like an amateur, he acted like an amateur. Looks like a duck to me.

and there is a process in place to waive those things and still get a Class III issued. I know that because I go through that process every year to get my Class II So I re-state that if you cannot manage a Class III medical, (a reasonable request when you are taking passengers up for rides where their life depends on your skillset and abilities), then maybe you should not be doing it. No one said all the rules are fair to everyone all the time, but for 99.99% of the time, it works reasonably well and sets a standard.

The FAA does not have a requirement for a medical but the manufacturers and USPA do. A military medical will usually suffice as well, however I am not aware of any dropzone except the rare few that do not have some requirement. If you cannot pass a Class III medical, then I expect there are a number of things that you should not be doing....

I'd be interested in hearing what line Trump has to cross to lose your support....

"We make money the old fashioned way...fat government contracts and massive cost overruns!"

All they did was have a recession...and they went home because they could not earn it here anymore. Well that and a scaled up enforcement against employers and the like. penalties are far more severe for employers that pay under the table. As well as massive deportation efforts, for which I will never understand why the Democrats were not up there touting that every single day of the campaign..... No trouble believing that we can make it difficult enough for them to want to go home

But one of the many stunts that helped him win an election.....so your comment appears to go directly the the electorate that put him in office. As has been said in so many places - facts no longer matter in the USA.

well, if they are 'white' or even partly white and also Christian....then they cannot be terrorists...they can only be "poor mentally unstable individuals who obviously needed the help and we should do something about that....well unless I have to pay for it" Anyone else of off-color skin and/or other religion is a 'terrorist'.

What's up first on the agenda of the new Congress?
tkhayes replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Hey, we have been doing this for centuries. They put investigating sex abuse by the Catholic Brothers in the hands of the local bishop. that worked out well.... Outrage all over the pace...yeah right. Will anything be done about it? I am not holding my breath. It will be shelved as a good thing - "overreaching govt squashed in the name of whatever patriotic cause they have....." -
rather than get hung up on a single quote, when the original idea put forth said he was a conservative that was pro-gun, you could always go to the paper that he wrote for, search for his last name and 'gun' and then read the many articles he wrote that were in fact, pro-gun. Not everything needs to be discriminated to a point where you start arguing about the meaning of the word 'the' or some such crap. The guy was pro gun. He was a conservative that was pro-gun. he got shot by his own gun. there is some irony in that whether you like it or not.

the war on drugs is an abject failure. going after the cartels with whatever weapons, law or other means you might think is necessary has never worked. And not likely that intensifying it will work either. Time to come up with some other ways to deal with it and abandon the 'war' altogether.

The last two cutaway related fatalities at Skydive City were both experienced jumpers (most likely) pulling out of sequence. Both were main/reserve entanglements. We have had numerous near misses etc and injuries due to out of sequence or incomplete procedures. The trend we have seen in recent years is experienced skydivers making pretty egregious mistakes on the most basic of things - pulling the cutaway handle and then pulling a reserve handle. So we have revisited this at a student training level and have decided to teach a two handed pull and clear for the cutaway and the two handed pull and clear for the reserve. The reasoning being that 99% of the rigs out their have a Mards, Skyhook, RSL or whatever. "Pulling and clearing the cutaway handle" just might be the most important part of the sequence, and the equipment does the rest. Yes, I know, I know, not for every situation or for every person/rig. But our trend indicates a failure to execute, so we adapt to something that might work. Two canopies out (fully or partially) today is a far more serious situation than it was in the days of massive canopies and the consequences of any out of sequence situation are grave. But your points are all valid....mostly, TRAIN whatever you are going to do, then practice it every jump, then EXECUTE IT methodically when you need to. The difference between a well-thought-out execution of procedures and a panicked one is only a couple seconds. If you pull at the right altitude, then you have time for that. Try once, try twice, buh-bye.

9 African Americans shot in a church in Charleston SC
tkhayes replied to Amazon's topic in Speakers Corner
generally I am strongly against the death penalty but reserve that there always a time and place for pretty much everything. That fucker can die one of those painful slow misguided lethal injection procedures for all I care. And if he gets idolized by his 'followers and countrymen', then so be it. They are all free as well to follow his footsteps to their own 'end of life' decisions if they choose. I do not want these cunts in my back yard. -
we have had great luck with all the Brother devices at Skydive City and have owned a bunch of them. Multifunction duplex, network attached machines and simple lasers with mono and duplex capability. Have never given us any issues really until they wear out, and we wear them out. suppliesguys.com compatible toner for cheap and no issues with that either.

President Trump saving jobs, and not even in office yet!
tkhayes replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
jobs saved by spending Indiana tax dollars to keep them with no way to recoup that money. Trump himself said he would penalize companies that moved jobs out - instead, he gives them bonuses to stay in.... At least Pence will not have to deal with the tax shortfall himself - he can now quietly leave that mess to someone else. -
Sigma's at 500 lbs & taking tandem students up to 300 lb?
tkhayes replied to pchapman's topic in Tandem Skydiving
pretty wild how people publish on a website the fact that they are operating outside the TSO limits of the gear and feel that this is OK. This is the very definition of gross negligence. And I bet that you will not be the one to decide that, (or whether it is safe or not) when you are standing in a courtroom attempting to defend what you did, or good luck finding anyone, including the manufacturers to back you up on that. 100lb people do not play pro football. 300lb people do not skydive. The answer is 'no' sometimes and the few dollars will not pay your defense bill. just my $0.02 worth. -
