  1. my mom had stage 4 sinus cancer 12 years ago. i was 18 and her only caretaker - barely old enough to take care of myself. she had heavy doses of chemo and radiation daily. she made it though ok, but has had health problems since then including breast cancer and a mastectomy. i've read the posts here and the advice, all seems good. i agree hospice should be involved and they will help tremendously. one thing one of my aunts did was send a big box with a bunch of little presents in it. all were wrapped with specific instructions written on each - like "open on a tuesday" or "open when you need to laugh". we had one or two presents to open every day. they were silly things like slinkies or silly putty, but it really helped both of us out. since then, each year, i take at the same number of boxes to the hospitals or cancer centers - one box for each year since mom's remission. the dollar store or a party store are good, inexpensive places to shop. be sure to take time out for yourself and always remember to laugh - no matter how bad it hurts! you are a good friend! ~S

Has anybody seen her around lately? Thanks! ~S
  3. That's awfully sweet of Marc to offer, eh? Thanks Marc! Just don't forget your bug spray!! Thanks for the info, Heath! I'll be in and around those parts on the 20th. I'm going there for the holiday (a treat for myself) to learn how to ski and possibly snowboard. I'm a FL baby, so the ccccold will be something new. I'll probably have on everything I own!! I'll keep that in mind, though and try to visit! Shelly ~GWEARS.COM Skybaby Series~
  4. Hey Ben, I'm not all too familiar with all the rental car companies here, but here's a few I can throw at ya - http://www.orlandocar.com/ http://www.national-ctr.com/home.asp http://www.paylesscarrental.com/cities/orlando/index.html http://www.carrentalinflorida.com/ Also, when I jumped at Sebastian, the people there are way cool junior and in the past have been happy to transport. I, myself, while waiting on a load picked up some peops from the train station on a few occasions. Also, a lot of the JMs travel between Sebastian and Deland, so you might be able to catch a ride with one of them on their way back down. They also have a bus in Sebastian, but I'm not sure of the details about that. Your best bet would be to call them and explain to them what you need and perhaps they can help. Also, try to find someone with an "extra" car who needs a little cash and you can help each other out. That's what I did when I went to San Francisco. I worked out well for both of us. I'll be in Colorado this year at that time, otherwise, I'd offer more help. Hope this info helps a bit. Skybaby ~GWEARS.COM Skybaby Series~
  5. Well, I just have to say that I think that's great. I agree with everyone ~ she's a lucky girl. Hell, I lived with my man and caught him with someone else. I left him 6 months ago and am still finding it very difficult drag myself out of bed everyday. I guess the thing that really gets me is that he had no remorse. That and the fact that he is friends with my bro whom I used to be friends with until all of this. I guess my bro has made his choice, as well, for we have not spoken since April. I'm not sure which hurts the most. But I do know, however, that this too soon shall pass. I feel I have gained knowledge in my life about myself and others - probably a lot faster than most. At 22 I was traveling the US alone and learning to skydive. Everyone thought I'd be back in a month, but I didn't show up again for almost three years. You just can't pass up opportunity and you must be grateful for what you have. Sure, I had a nice house, jet ski, blah blah blah when with the ex. Now I am so broke I am not sure where my next meal is going to come from. And as hard as it is for me to believe it, I know I am in a much better position than I was when I was with him. I guess what I am trying to say is GO FOR IT. I really hope that it works out for you. I think love and caring are such beautiful things. I am surrounded by a lot of negativity from my family and have tried hard all of my life not to let it get me down. I just think that everyone should be surrounded by the positive energy they need in whatever form it takes. Good luck to you. ~Shelly ~GWEARS.COM Skybaby Series~

  7. I just quit my job, too! My last day is tomorrow! Woohoo! I was supposed to move to Kentucky on Monday, but now I am considering Hawaii via a two year enlistment in the military. ~Skybaby ~GWEARS.COM Skybaby Series~

I'd have to agree here. Your parents aren't always going to agree with your decisions and as you get older you will find that they trust you enough to support you in them. Hopefully anyway. You don't want to introduce anything in the incorrect fashion as with any other sort of extracurricular activity. GWEARS.COM ~Skybaby
