There are a lot of gay people who have the same feelings toward their sexuality. The ones I've met who are closeted are not so because of an internal conflict, but for fear of how they will be accepted in society. In short, society is the one with a gay "problem", not gay people themselves. - Dan G

You've stated before that Christians and Christianity are being persucuted by secular society. So, we can put a big check marj next to #4. I've also read posters here (not sure if you agreed or not) state that they felt threatened in the workplace due to their Christianity. So check yes for #3. Obviously your behavior revolving around the worship of Christ is causing you problems and you are deep in denial about it. I suggest couceling may help you to move away from these behaviors and choices that are clearly ruining your life. (If my point is too blunt, by your own methodology, being gay is no more a disorder than being Christian) - Dan G

I agree the VAT is a bad idea. I just disagree with your conclusion that Obama wants to "ram it through" because he said that he wants his advisers to consider all options. I think you're reaching. MDMP, you know. Weight all the options and come up with the best ones. - Dan G

The second article doesn't even come close to showing that Obama is a "Yes" on a VAT. All he says is that he wants to consider different ways of dealing with ther deficit, and that a VAT has worked for other countries. The fact that he doesn't stand up on his chair and yell, "No VAT" is not the same as "Yes VAT". He's a thoughtful person who wants his advisers to have a wide berth for studying problems. I know this was anathema to the "Decider", who only wanted to hear support for his preconceived conclusions. Having all options open for consideration results in a better decision. - Dan G

I think you really, really missed his point. - Dan G

Next time someone at your DZ bounces, go to the morgue with the body and console the guy's family. Tell them how you don't care about death because you're such a badass. I'm sure they'll appreciate your point of view. Or you can just grow the fuck up and realize it's not all about you. - Dan G

A lot of rescue groups are volunteer. I'm not sure how that equates to being in it for the money. I'm pretty sure the only volunteer breeders are the dogs themselves. - Dan G

Did you just inadvertantly admit that global warming is real, and that the science is settled? If not then your argument that government shouldn't fund the research is kinda weak. If so, then welcome to the rest of the world, enjoy your stay. - Dan G

Skydive Orange awarded the Judy to Steve Hetrick this year. He's the chief AFF guy, AFF course director, regional S&TA, and all around great guy. When he went up to accept, he got all choked up. It as really quite odd, Steve's not known for flowery displays of emotion. I had no idea, but apparently Ches Judy was Steve's best friend and jumping buddy for many years before he died. Many DZ's look at the Judy Award as a silly little piece of paper to give out every year. Steve made me realize that it can truly be a honor, and if viewed as such by DZ's across the country it might actually have a positive impact on safety. - Dan G

That is such a giant pile of bullshit. I usually expect more from you. - Dan G

Dead Marine's father ordered to pay protesters' legal costs

I hate to say this, but I actually agree with you. "Hate" crime legislation, in my view, is unconstituitional. If something is a crime, it is a crime. The motivation to commit that crime should not be a crime of itself. - Dan G -

When speaking becomes a privledge we'll need to gut the whole system and start over. That is some scary shit. - Dan G -
I don't see what the problem is. Marines are required to be proficient swimmers. Duh. - Dan G

Dead Marine's father ordered to pay protesters' legal costs
DanG replied to lost_n_confuzd's topic in Speakers Corner
There is a huge difference between "should not be spoken" and "may not legally be spoken". A world of difference. You "should" not walk up to someone and tell them to fuck off, but in America, no matter how much it hurts their feelings, there should never be a law against it. - Dan G -

IQ is a measure of intelligence, not education. By saying they have low IQ's you are saying they they are inately less smart. If you want to say that they are illiterate or uneducated, then you should say so. Otherwise you come off as an uneducated bigot with a low IQ. - Dan G -

DanG replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
What part of "low IQ's in general" do you think meant something other than, "Palestinians are stupid?" I'd bet dollars to donuts that the good Captain1976 has not met too many Arabs in the flesh. They are no more stupid than anyone else, including Jews. - Dan G -

Really? I'm not saying you're lying, I just find that very hard to believe. I don't think I've ever heard of a death from cheering, but someone I know just went in yesterday. Can you elaborate? - Dan G

Do you have healthcare currently? What is your view on the bill?
DanG replied to bluesilver30's topic in Speakers Corner
I know it's the party line and you're required to say it, but do you really believe this shit? Do you really believe that a medical panel announcing their opinion that mammograms for women under 50 do more harm than good is the same as, "gov't has decided you don't need [a mammogram] until after age 50?" Not everything is a conspiracy by Obama to kill you and take your money. - Dan G -

I'm not sure what portion of the newly insured will be paying in vs. getting it for free. Either way, some of the newly insured will be paying, so the burden will be spread to more people. I'm not sure what the increase in Medicare taxes will be, but I very much doubt it will be as high as you say. I currently pay a little over $1000 a year to Medicare. I doubt that will double under this plan. As far as the increase in investment tax, as I understand it, it only applies to earnings over $250k (please correct me if I misunderstand). If you are making more than $250k in investment returns annually, you have over $5 million in the bank (assuming a generous 5% return). You are rich regardless of where you live. - Dan G -
How many people just got put out of work and just don't know it yet?
DanG replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Um, no. There will be 30 million more covered. It doesn't mean they will be getting it for free. Right now, people who actually have insurance are paying for the medical care of those 30 million. Under the new bill the cost of caring for those people will be spread out to everyone, including most of those 30 million. This bill doesn't mandate free insurance, it mandates universal insurance (mostly). There is a big difference. - Dan G
