and the direction it's supposed to :-D Nathan -
I haven't heard this story yet. How did the car battery as a packing weight almost cause a fatality? Nathan Nathan

one more question. was it just pure mistake you grabbed the wrong rig, and you actually thought you had the s/d rig.. or were you questioning yourself at any point (ride there/exit/etc) - "hmm. this IS my s/d rig... right? ... uh... yah. it is... see ya"? .. just curious. Nathan Nathan

mind sharing what happened? Nathan

video? ... of the jump that is! i'll pass on the sex scene :-P Nathan

dont' quote me on this.... but i'm pretty sure all of those are microwave towers, built back in the 50's (or so i've been told). i've jumped quite a few of them. they are nice because are usually slightly overhung, and some give you a clear platform for a running exit. have fun :-D! - as to if they are still active or not, i have no idea. Nathan

brett.. come out! it's going to be amazing! Nathan

If Nick is up for this idea, I would be more than willing to code it for him. I have done many applications very similar to this. I also agree with you, there should be an option to donate as well. Nick puts time, and money into keeping this up. We should help out some. Hosting shouldn't be problem either. Any interest in this Nick, just PM me. It's not a very difficult, or complicated script/idea. I did think about what you said, and that if we want to help out, just stop dying. I like that statement, but I am still going to offerer my assistance to this. The greatest benefit I see, as Tom pointed out, is that you could query the database for specfici statistics (and it would ultimately be more organized, and easier to add information). As I said, if you are interested, just PM me. Nathan Nathan

I have a few friends who fly them. From I've been told, you can take off in short distances, but sometimes, depending upon the winds, it can take a lot longer. Same with landing. As far as I know, you don't need any type of formal instruction to legally be allowed to fly it. When new people want to fly, the guy I know just orders their gear, then they take it out to the launch site and he teaches them. Best thing to do is to check out a ppg forum. There are a few out there. (My suggestion is to make very, very good friends with these guys. A free ride to 2000' in a BASE rig during the day is a lot of fun. It's weird, for me at least, seeing the ground at terminal around 500' with the sun out! :-D) Nathan Nathan

I got it. Thanks a lot! I appreciate it! Nathan

I'm having the same problem. Acrobat says the file is damaged and cannot be repaired. Would someone mind emailing it to nathan_pertuset@eku.edu? Thanks in advance! Nathan

Any jumpers that jump in Knoxville or have jumped there. Please PM me. Thanks. Nathan Nathan

BASE is many different things to me. It's the letting go; the stepping off the edge. It's the freedom; the go anywhere, jump anything power. The late nights, the early mornings, and the depressing back downs. The tall buildings, small antennas, and breath taking cliffs. The friends, the objects, the sunsets, the jumps, the beauty, everything. It's all part of it. (and hard to explain.. as all of you know!) btw.. nice post Tom. I like it! -Nathan Nathan

Any locals around? I'll be in the area this weekend, and would love to go jump something. If so, send me a PM. Thanks. Nathan Nathan

Yeah. Just google "proxy list", you'll get a bunch of them (some might not work, so its all trial and error.) Depending on which browser you use, you change the connection settings. Here is how its done in IE. Click Tools, then click the tab connections. Click LAN Settings. Check the box that says: "Use a proxy server for your LAN ..." then enter in the IP address and the port. Close all IE windows and re-open it. If you can view pages, you are viewing them through the proxy. A good way to ensure/check is to go to www.whatismyip.com. (Do it before, and after.. and compare). If you reload IE and it says cannot find url, the proxy is bad, so try another. ... Just don't forget when you're finished to uncheck the "Use a proxy server" button, because if not, you could forget about it one day, and when the proxy goes down, you'll spend countless hours trying to figure it out. If ya have any questions, just PM me. Nathan

congrats guys.. that's pretty impressive! Nathan -
I'll be in the area around the last week of July (Pigeon Forge). PM me if ya can! Thanks Nathan Nathan

Yeah, i learned that lesson the hard way. Now when I talk to one of them, i stare off to the side or at the horizon. As sub_terminal said .. no eye contact! If you call 3-4 weeks in advance, they can usually squeeze you in. If you pay up front it cuts that time in half. ($100). Just be careful around that crew ... ... ... they're ... ... .. trouble. :D Nathan
