  1. This is my fearless leaders Micron V304. Good looking rig huh Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  2. Tonto, I will be coming to Eloy on the 25th and Piers Littleford will be with me - we will sort it out when you get there! Cheers mate. Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  3. Mike, Your a good man - and I tell you what? You had me thinking there... just for a second! I know you have been around for sometime and I fully respect the experiences that you bring to the table - some experience that most would not even believe! I somewhat agreed to disgree in another forum about highlighting individuals, but it is not a bad thing! Guys like you have plenty to offer and if they listened a little more they would learn. Nice post! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  4. I tell you what - you have been around for 15 years in skydiving. Send me your telephone number and I would be more than happy to explain. In fact anyone that is going to be at the dz.com Boogie I ask you to come and visist me - I will give full explanations and hopefully solve some unanswerded questions... or meet me and the whole of RWS's sales and marketing staff at PIA! This is the season to learn - take advantage of all the manufacturers who are willing to offer up information... Going Xtra Huge!!! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  5. I tell you what - email me the event details, etc. and I will help you guys out with something! Cheers Egon Sussmann Sales & Marketing Relative Workshop egon@relativeworkshop.com "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  6. One thing we must not forget - this from a sponsored jumper who does a lot more for this sport than most people I know! "Most sponsored jumpers spent tens of thousands of $$ to even get to the level where they might be considered for sponsorship! People seem to forget that fact." That statement is so true! Think about that. Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  7. Not a single one of our Sponsored Jumpers is contractually bound to sell or push our product. To give you an idea of sponsorships... our athletes are not head hunted, but approach us! They feel our product will suite their needs and saftey concerns. RWS has not got a very extensive sponsorship program, and rather chooses to go with athletes who believe in our products - they sign no contract as I am not going to force anyone to jump a Micron because he signed a document. In fact the majority of our sponsored athletes do not compete. A good portion of them are world class coaches who believe in our product and are extremely knowledgable in gear safety! This is and has become extremely important when coming to all the disciplines availible especially like freeflying - I have sat in on many of our sponsored athletes couching clinics and they provide an invaluable service to the skydiving community. I will back any one of our sponsored athletes 100% unless they prove me wrong with misrepresenting themselves. I see plenty people in these forums offering advice who seldom have the experience to be giving it. As for Dave - he is taking it personally and he feels he needs to spread the word - thats good, but that is his opinion on gear. One thing for sure and that is that many individuals on dz.com seem to have the perception that we are not approachable - this is so wrong. People are so entitled and welcomed to call manufacturers with questions they have. If you feel that there is someone who is sponsored and is misrepresenting a product then take it up with that manufacturer - its the least you could do. Just keep in mind that most sponsored jumpers are extremely passionate about their gear, and always working with the manufacturers to improve product - they are an extremely important part of engineering. As for flagging people - hell I am all for it. But don't do it in such a way to warn people against their advice, but so that people take extra note when they mention something... I do think this thread has brought up some important issues - but lets look after our sponsored athletes... they are taking and pushing this sport to newer limits, so lets rather applaud them, as apposed to bashing them! Just a thought! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  8. Aggie, I first met you at Skydive Aggieland and this dz to me is a small skydiving operation in the big scheme of things - nothing wrong with that either. I work for the Relative Workshop in Deland, Florida. I will give you some background to myself. I started skydiving at a dz which was not much bigger/smaller than Skydive Aggieland. It was a club and it has its negatives and positives just like any dz come big or small. Now because I jumped in South Africa I was exposed mainly to local manufacturers gear - nothing wrong with this, but one thing I never saw or heard from were manufacturers. Skydiving was my passion and that is exactly what brought me to the States - I worked hard at my skydiving getting ratings and jumping my ass off... Anyone who knows me will know that I am a Tandem junkie - I am passionate about tandems and it is such a wonderful way to introduce someone to the sport we all love. Even if it is only for one jump! If you want to flag my posts on these forums - go ahead. I really do not care - I don't think people will take my advice any differently because I work for a manufacturer. I will say that if you want my job you better have the experience and knowledge about gear and you better have the ability to learn and have an open mind. In the industry of skydiving manufacturers we have an unwritten code of ethics... we don't bash other manufacturers gear what so ever. I have on many occasions spoken to my opposition about issues that we may be having or that they are having. We all have one common goal and that is to build the safest gear for the skydivers with the availible resourse at our hands. If your suggesting that people should take my advice with a pinch of salt you got to be kidding me! I have seen many friends getting hurt in this sport and a good few I have lost to this sport... I have watched stupid things being done at all dz's around the world. But, one thing is for sure I will not lie to someone about the safety of gear. I have a Skyhook on my Micron - do you think for one second I am not going to push it... Its my job and besides I believe in the product much like the Sigma Tandem Systems. If I know that there is something safer out there - I want it... anyone just coming off AFF - is it a question as to whether they get a AAD? Hell no, no student of mine is buying gear without one - times do changes as we learn. At RWS we have 4 full time Engineers - we are constantly working on new projects to build and innovate the best and safest damn gear you can buy... why because we have passion! Next time you are in Deland I invite you to come and visit me - I will take you on a tour and introduce you to our Engineers and tell me you walked away not learning anything from us! So, to answer your request. Flag my posts - maybe someone will actually take me a little more seriously Dave, I know you mean well, but I can tell you that you can learn some good things from Sponsored Jumpers and those that have sold their soles to the industry working for the maufacturers like myself. Just FYI - I earn a salary and I am not driven by commision what so ever. My 02 cents... sorry if this comes across the wrong way, but I feel your attacking those of us that work in the industry full time. Going Xtra Huge!!! 9. Contact Parachute Systems in South Africa (Chute Shop). Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  10. Mike, I am sorry I will not be attending the event as I have just returned from Australia and New Zealand. I have emailed a 50% off Gift Certificate to you from Relative Workshop on a Vector 3 Micron/M-Series. Hope the event goes well and plenty of cash is raised for the Chris Martin Fund. Enjoy and Happy Thanks Giving! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  11. You may be very right in the fact that it was a new drogue. You must remember that a tandem rig is generelly bought and used as a business system and the owner/dz will generally buy spare parts for the system - the drogue being a high wear item should always be on hand to swing out when needed! As for the V2 drogues - we moved from the curved pin to a flex-pin drogue with kill line in 1999 which we call the V2.5 drogue. Hope that helps. Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  12. The Vector II drogue that your referring too is something that we stopped producing some years ago now... The rig is obviously not jumped much if that drogue is still in use, or it has never been replaced The latest V2 drogue has a kill line... just like the Sigma Drogue. Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  13. I cannot speak for any other Tandem Manufacture, but RWS certainly do have an incident form which is and has always been in use. Here is the link to our Incident Report from the RWS website. http://www.relativeworkshop.com/pdf_files/05504.pdf Cheers Egon Edited by slotperfect to make the link clicky! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  14. Relative Workshop will most definitely be bringing the skyhook rig - for use!!! Look forward to seeing you out there! Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  15. Here's a fun one with Jacko and Kim from Cross Keys going out of John's helicopter... Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  16. Velocity 103 + V306 Skyhooked equipped! I personally have done enough test jumps on the Skyhook rig to be sold on it! Give the system a bash when I have it at Boogies - it will solve most of, if not all your questions/concerns. See attachment of low breakaway - was in Skydiving not long ago... certainly answers many low canopy collisions! Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  17. Ok - thought I might as well add one of mine! This was one of myself doing a tandem over Skydive Aggieland while I visited their annual Boogie. The videographer is Pablito who also works for RWS now. Enjoy! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"

Well done to VIBE - the guys do rock! They have always done us proud here at RWS... Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  19. Kuske was one of those guys who always made everyone welcome at CK - I am not totally aware of all the details, but in time I am sure the full details will come to light... Thought I would show a nice photo of him doing the CRW thing - interesting shot! Peace to you my friend... "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  20. My friend! You should be very careful in the manner you post. The last thing you should be doing is bashing a manufacturers equipment! The issue really at hand is that you were foolish enough to freefly with a system that has Velcro! Think about things before you post! With your jump numbers you should be in the position to know better and certainly your seniors should have warned you of the dangers involved. Possibly you should invest in gear that is suited to your skydiving Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  21. Glad you guys are ampted up for the course! Guess I will get to meet you all - maybe even do a jump or two with you guys Look forward to seeing you guys soon... Remember the beer Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  22. Now I thought I must just add my 02 cents in - I will definitely be there this year!!! I was there last year and had an absolute blast... The Skyhook Intentional Break Away System will also be coming with me and some other goodies.... So, if your going to the Boogie, do make sure to come by and say hi to me!!! See you guys soon.... Going huge! Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  23. Hey Aubrey! One of the best assets you have are your sponsored jumpers. Get their opinions - even better get your Engineers to come up with some variations and get some conclusive testing done with them... this has certainly worked for many manufacturers including RWS. Your Sponsored jumpers are extremely important in the RnD process for development. Put them to the test!!! Many of RWS's innovations are purely through the input we get from our sponsored jumpers as they are the most current out there wanting the best and safest gear availible to them! My 02 cents buddy. Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  24. There are a few dz's in South Africa and two in the Cape Town area. 1- Skydive Cape Town www.skydivecapetown.za.net this is a full time 7 day a week operation with multiple aircraft. Beautiful views of Cape Town. About 45 minute drive from city. 2- Skydive Citrusdal www.skydive.co.za this is a weekend operation which is run as a club - always has a excellent atmosphere and surroundings! About 1 hour 20 minute drive from city. Give Both a try has they are very different, but both will give you a good time Happy travels Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  25. Hey there... I have spoke with our IT Department to do some research into this issue - they seem off the bat to be slightly confused as to why. As for me - I am just one of those usual user problems, so I do not have a clue If there is anything that I can possibly be of assistance with please send me an email @ egon@relativeworkshop.com or you could phone me on the office line 1-386-736-7589. Alternatively send me a PM... Regards. Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
