  1. Relative Workshop Products. http://www.relativeworkshop.com/support_manuals.html Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  2. What's your point? "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  3. Listen girl! We do not want you to scare them away - they are here for a few more days! In fact I always recommend that skydivers visit every factory in this town - for me personally PD is a very interesting factory to tour... and they have a very good looking Arlo working there too "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  4. I think you are clearly confused why RWS came out with the Skyhook! This system was not designed for low break aways - yes it has been done and proven how valuable it is low down. Initially it was meant for tandem skydiving reducing the time between main and reserve canopy! It was with such success that we then made it availible for the sport jumpers. There are many benefits to a Skyhook other than low break aways! Hopefully you will be in the position to witness a Skyhook deployment and you may rethink the whole idea... I have never once had a skydiver come up to me or phone me and say it was the biggest waste of money option the could ever have bought! Not picking on you, but it does help when you understand the system a little more, and its benefits! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  5. Ah! Just gave a tour to 7 Italian skydivers in town for a week... should have seen the girls in the office Guess its something to do with their accents, but then what would I know? "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  6. I hear you I think if you look closely now how we ship skyhook equipped rigs - you will see all the instructions in paper manuals, cd's and even inside the rig on labels and the hook itself is even labeled - gosh we are trying to make this as idiot proof as humanly possible for the riggers. To me it is no different to adding a AAD to your equipment... you can also misroute this or have incorrect lengths in reserve loops! There are a number of ways riggers can make mistakes, but as a manufacturer we are trying to eliminate any doubt as to how it gets installed in the pack job. Riggers who are serious about rigging have taken the time to download all the information on the Skyhook and even phone us with questions... if you are a rigger and you are unsure about what you are doing or how you have rigged the reserve pack job - stop and get the answers! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  7. Yes I had the same issue with my Velocity - quick fix... I got a slider with Brass gromets! PD were most helpful explaining the inside diameter of the stainless is less then that of the brass - no big deal. Specify what you want when ordering "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  8. ...I highly doubt your club was given the ok from Chris Dales of Parachute Systems (Chute Shop)... if I may ask what kind of retrofit did they do - put a split housing in or attach a Dacron lanyard to the break away handle - I am for sure that all manufacturers know this is a patent violation As for Jump Shack - through my own ignorance I cannot comment on this as I have not looked very closely at the rig with this setup! So - would you own a system with a Skyhook "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  9. ...and are riggers not required to pack with a manual on hand? I hardly see this being the Skyhooks fault? "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  10. you got me any other manufactured rigs other than RWS equipment? Smart ass "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  11. This is a perfect scenario where the Skyhook will perform better over the traditional RSL found on other rigs... "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  12. so which other rigs have a Collins Lanyard? "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  13. ...Now stop bitching - Florida is not that bad! Yes it is not up in the Arctic like Chicago, but you may just come and leave having a wonderful time See ya soon girl...
  14. Ohio? Where is that? look forward to getting kicked in the ass... "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  15. Look forward to showing you how things have changed over the years... its impressive!
  16. The situation you are talking about is very rare now with Type 17 mini ring - riser breaks! The Collins Lanyard played a very important role in our Tandem Systems with Riser Breaks. However with the Skyhook it is critical that you have this Collins Lanyard... Keeping in mind should you have such a hard opening that it breaks your riser - this is a good thing as you will do less damage to your MLW. The risers are designed to fail... Good on you for at least taking the RSL - you will thank the system one day when the shit hits the fan... "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  17. Unfortunately it is only availible on Relative Workshop systems currently - this however will more than likely change in time! Aerodyne certainly can help you with an RSL though - check with Aubrey as he may still be able to get this included on your order if it is not yet complete! Enjoy your new Rig - its always a great feeling getting your first brand new custom rig Cheers "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  18. ...the factory is only open Monday through Friday - we do need to give the staff a break too If you had a group of folks and were going to be in town we could be convinced to open up and give a tour... the effect will not be the same, because the machines will not be running! If you are coming to Deland for a weekend try and get here friday afternoon at least! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  19. Yes you girls came, saw and conquered Deland! I am so glad you had a wonderful time... Its incredibly satisfying for us at RWS that skydivers learn a little more about gear - even if it is not a Vector! Keeping in mind that skydivers have large turbines and jumping there asses off which is wonderful - the down side is they spend a little less time on the ground learning more about their gear they own and how and why it functions the way it does... Bless you girl for walking away learning - and I am sure you feel so much more confident with gear now... this in fact makes you a far safer skydiver than you think Ah... I am far from a nurse, but I was glad that I could have been of some assistance - look forward to you visiting us again and making our days just that more brighter Paige is incredible - I remember taking Paige on a tour some time ago - funny she even brought her parents around for a tour so they could sleep at night knowing that their little girl was jumping gear that was not made in some back yard operation Its really good to see that people enjoy these tours and it gives us extra motivation to continue educating skydivers and expanding on the tours and offering even more... ... Alana this doesn't change anything as I still think you are a snob "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  20. Yes that clown who got complacent was ME This actually happened while we were up at Rantoul last year. We have 3 rigs for doing this demonstration and I was doing a few a day and we were jumping on low passes like when we were socked in and the only aircraft flying was Ray's PAC and John's Helicopter. JC (RWS Production Manager) and I decided to both kit up with Skyhook Equipped Test Rigs and off we were in the heli for a 3grand hop and pop! Our intention was to both start spinning and break away together and bang what a nice show! Not quite - me being the clown I am at times do also make stupid mistakes and this is why we have AAD's, etc - for when we totally f@#k up!!! Well, upon gear inspection I did not check my RSL shackle and ensure it was connected - doo! Ok! Off we go and at 1000ft we decided to break away and shit - nothing has come off my back. I look back - nothing Looked at my silver and saw the swoop pond coming at me at a pace... pulled silver and in the saddle a little relieved and pissed at myself The thing that people were clearly able to see is 2 skydivers with the same simulated malfunction - one with Skyhook and one without it hooked up... Very clearly you can see now how effective the Skyhook is! Needless to say my buddy's watching were a little worried as it was low and they could clearly see what is going on, but the thing is at these altitudes you do not have time and this what the Skyhook does - it shortens the time between a fully inflated main to a fully inflated reserve! Complacent - yes I was and I did learn from it and I have made this one very serious part of my gear check! For those watching - this was a damn fine show of how well a Skyhook works and a rig without one works! The guys that did the 100ft breakaways - yes I was there and these boys yes are experienced base jumpers, but they were also tickling the Lions balls.. "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  21. I so understand what you are saying! Firstly the first jump course is very intensive and generic, but as you become more experienced jumping and more current you are in a better situation of identifying what malfunction you have and react according. Now with all the extensive testing we have done at RWS I am very familiar with the gear - I guess you asking a very individual question as to what would they do? Hell, right now each one of us would think about the question and then weigh up our odds and then give a suggestion of what we would like to do if someone hit our main at 500ft and blew it up. Unfortunately none of us have the privelage of time when this occurs as all we have is an immmediate reaction (most of the time it works out, but there are the chances we chose wrong) - and truly I hope this scenario does not happen to anyone. Personally I have a Skyhook in all my Microns. The one rig has a Velo103 and believe me at my wing loading when shit goes wrong it goes wrong very quickly. I have the Skyhook for a number of reasons, and one very motivating factor is that a large portion of my jumping is out of large turbine and more so multiple drops at the same time - the odds of a canopy collision are so much higher than when I started out jumping out of a C182 (max 4 jumpers in the sky). To answer what I would do - break away and get a good clean canopy above me! I trust the Skyhook completely... and I do believe shit happens also, but I am nto going to pump my reserve into a ball of shit above me! I guess I can say this as I have extensively done test jumps with the equipment and my decisions have changed since jumping gear with a Skyhook! I do not think Bill Booth, myself or anyone at RWS will ever ask you to revise your Emergency Procedures. Absolutely nothing must change about the way you go about your procedures, but as you are more aware of how your gear works then you are in a more educated position to make a decision as to what your options are. Fact: I have personally done a break away with the test equipment at 500ft! Please do not think you can now go lower and now wait longer to make decisions! The Skyhook for the good of us will become a standard industry safety addition - this is my belief and we will look back in 10 years and see - I hope I am right! I simply believe in the product not because I work for RWS, but I have confidence in the system. I also look forward to the Skyhook being availble on all rigs - it will make us all safer! Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  22. I am glad you found our service to be helpful - and I do look forward to meeting you and showing you the facilities... Your are not very far from us, so no more excuses!!! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  23. Ah Mike! Well someone has to travel the planet... Glad that your chop worked out well - how those line sets or were you unstable again Do let me know when you come back to Deland... it will be good to catch up and then we can measure you for another rig Cheers my friend! "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  24. Oh, and we saw the Fur lined diamond studded Vector too . . . ------------------------ Yes we still have this rig for you to see... "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
  25. Contact me in the office in the morning (386)736-7589 I may just be able to help you out Or email me at egon@relativeworkshop.com Cheers Egon "Start doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you're doing the impossible!"
