Yeah ive seen a doc and have taken antibotics - its clearing up now. I did think about jumping but i thought id be on the ground for much longer if i did jump and do some damage. I just wanted to see what is recommended so i can avoid other problems and get my body used to doing all these new things. Thanks guys for the feedback, i ll try them out when im back in the air. My apologises to you guys as im sure there's been several of these posts before, but being new to both the site and the sport i have a few questions. I've been on the ground for the past 2 weekends due to sinusitis (not chronic as this is the first time i've ever had sinus problems). I read that it may of been caused by not properly equalising last time i jumped. What is the best way and best time to equalise? From reading some old posts ive got that on the climb to altitude i should chew gum and yawn and only on descent should i ever use the Valsalva method. So i guess what im asking is, is that correct and when do i equalise on descent (freefall, under canopy or on the ground)? I just want to avoid having problems later, i really want to get moving with my jumps. I appreciate all feedback. Cheers guys , Kate -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The day you were born you were born free, that is your privilege"

Not about me but my mum bruised her knee cap pretty bad after doing a Patrick Swayze impersonation, sliding along timber floorboards straight into one of the timber dining table legs. Also after i punched my sister when we were little, i ran around a couch - she followed me and broke her toe after it got caught on the corner, at least she didn't catch up to punch me back Kate -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The day you were born you were born free, that is your privilege"

NEVER let the toggles up if you flare high!!!! (pics)

BIllvon, i think you have it right on the mark. Like i said before, i did the early flare because i thought i was approaching the ground at a good speed and like you and others have said, first instinct (normally) is to slow down when you approach something with speed - so trust those who know what they're talking about, and if you hurt yourself, at least it was their fault hahaha jk -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The day you were born you were born free, that is your privilege" -

Thanks as im sure i ll think of that just before flaring in the future. "-flaring as the ground approaches " This instinct is what caused my 2 early flares, just learing to trust my TA, i think im there (esp after seeing those pics). im currently doing my AFF (up to stage 4) and ive flared a little too early twice (was okay though, landed once on my feet and the other used PLF/PLR) but the guys keep reinforcing the importance of this, so thanks for sharing - visual reinforcement will stick clearer in my mind -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The day you were born you were born free, that is your privilege" -
