What is the MAIN reason(s) driving you to drink until your intoxicated/drunk/wasted/passedout? I m not talking about a few beers or glass of wine at home for dinner or the hockey game. I just got home from the bar and don't know why i wasted money for a ride to altitiude []DETE

The age old question... under 18?
Trivial_Trekker replied to Zaccutt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did my first tandem at 16 at Skydive Toronto. Their location has moved now. ALso i think i remember Grandben being my other choice. But remember you new parental concent! []DETE -
I have heard of that rule of thumb aswell. I may have stowed leaving abit less than a foot of lines on that particular jump. Im always scared to leave 18'' of lines sitting in the container, so I usually make one more smaller stow to bring it to about 12''. The thought of a bag lock freaks me out alot... []DETE

yes I usually try and llook at the horizon, and I had many clouds around me that day to reference my heading. LIke i said, the canopy came out with one twist and then began to turn around its self. Note the end cells werent filled. Is this a typical line twist situation, ? Did it have something to do with the end cells not filling in , or was it my body position after i threw out the PC? I remember having a linetwist situation a while back on my 10 sec delay. I wasnt breifed on turns and i started turning left as i exited the plane and I opened in the turn expecting line twists, whiich i did get but only a few. It was different though, I looked up the canopy inflated and i had about 4 twists, so i cleared them alot easier. That was in the Manta days. Just wondering if its possible to get linetwists even with a neat packjob and stable deployment. Note: Im not in denial, I will pay alot more attention now on when i pitch my pc []DETE

jump number 32 I was nice and stable when i threw out my pilot chute and as the canopy came out of the d bag i notced one line twist. As the canopy started filling with air the end cells still were slow to inflate and the canopy began turning around its elf giving me about 5 line twists, by that point i had my hands on the rear risers pulling them apart to try and slow the spinning down. which didnt really help I found that i i could only start kicking it out once the spinning had stopped anyway I'm curious to why this happend? I jumped a hornet 190 I had time to kill and took like 30 mintues to pack it to try and see if i could get a sweet opening. I'm a packer on the weekends so that is a pretty slow pack job for me. I didnt do any thing fancy like roll the nose etc. I may have packed it with 2 or 3 twists in the bridle which i didnt clear out as i put int the pilot chute in COUld that have caused it or was it the end cells??? I understand the canopy opening is a very violant process , but shouldnt a sloppy packjob open worse then a neat one?? []DETE

First jumps off student status
Trivial_Trekker replied to JoeG's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What i noticed on my first few solo jumps; was how nice the senery was.. and yea i agree the freefall seems to be long, but that's because we're spoiled getting 15 min lifts to 14k in turbine a/c. []DETE -

dude my hands shake all the time when i pick up light/small objects. i.e. pencil or whatever when i was younger(about 10) my mom took me to get examined by a doctor. Nothing turned up. anyway life continued, untill my budies noticed when i tried playing a drinking game with 'Jenga', so they started calling me 'shaky hands'. Also i found after i started working out consistantly, it really relaxed me and i didnt even notice the 'shaky hands' for a while. Even with the shaky hands I have real good coordination, with regards to sports, video games, and flying. It could even be your diet man, are you eatign well, and getting enough sleep. I always noticed when i was extremely hungover, the shakyhands would come back. or.. you might even be stressed, and it's away your body is telling you. ..... so get laid and see i that fixes your problem []DETE

How can you people afford it!!! I work full time and since I started skydiving i have no life. I have no money for anything else. I cant even remember the last time i got drunk. Hopefully soon ill be off student status and it will be alittle less expensive []DETE

Hey Pchapman BTW I did my first tandem at your home DZ when I was 16(3 years ago). It was one of the only places in Ontario that would let me jumpat that age. anyway it was an awesome first jump. []DETE

Great! everything makes alot more sense after reading your posts. I was just conserned to which method was safer, and for some reason I thought that static line was abit more of an old school method vs IAD. Tomorrow weather complying I ll be doing a practice pull ( still IAD ), and soon ill begin going stowed nervous but excited. BTW, I m able to keep a good arch and keepp stable, but im losing the plane, I think its because I am looking forward to the horizon more than to the side. IS this something i should worry about []DETE

Yea i understand that Tandem, AFF, and IADs are completely differnet methods of training. But i was just wondering if there was a major difference with IADs to Static line. i.e. IAD produce better opening characteristics, or static line is safer --- just examples, i have no idea :P thanks for replying though []DETE

hey everyone. I was just wondering if there are any main advantages or disadvantges to jumping IAD or static line. I ve just start my training and am alittle confused to why some schools prefer different jumping techniques. So far ive got two IADs under my belt. Hopefully one more this weekend. weather complying thx []DETE

Well I ended up taking it easy today, and decided that I wont be doing anything about the fight. In fact, it made me really think about the kinds of people I've been hanging out with, and to be honest I'm not planning to head that route. I hope those dudes who kicked me got their confidence; because sooner or later with it they'll make a wrong move. seeya on the flip side []DETE

-ranting Long story short. I was at a party. Some guy picked a fight with me. Out of self defence I fought him. I got in a couple nice ones, and before I knew it all his friends decided to join in. I ended up on the ground getting boots to the head. Finally someone broke it up, and I left pretty quickly. Now I'm left sore and in a bad mood. Not because of the fact that I lost, but because I have to deal with this bull**** my first night back home. I hate fighting... []DETE

What about an Iceberg jump?? []DETE
-
I was thinking more of something resmebling more of a cliff, such where Ice meats water. I was looking at some photos in a books and got wondering. What I really think would be even neater, would be to jump an Iceberg somewhere NW of Newfoundland. I think it would be a jump of a life time, b/c no one could repeat it. Your site would eventually melt away into the atalantic... Obviously you would need to have mad skills in both ice climbing and base jumping. I found this picture http://www.sgisland.org/download/wallpaper/iceberg.jpg very cool stuff []DETE
