  1. dang, I got short changed! I started on a manta 288/290. I'm 225 naked, by this math I shoulda been under a 392 for 50lbs and a 407 for 60lbs
  2. my radical is red(profile pic) and doesn't have any kind of unusual smell. It is made of the galvinar (sp) fabric. Maybe your friend actually did puke on his ;)
  3. Thanks, that's about what I was thinking. The reason I ask, is because I'm looking at a couple old rigs for large flag setups for future use Maybe this will bring some more responses :)
  4. was wondering if it is legal to jump a timed out tandem rig by yourself, without a passenger? Talking strong dual hawk, 12 yrs old(I think).
  5. This is exactly why I very rarely post on the forums. I apologize for contradicting the eye doctor. I will quit skydiving and all other contact sports this instant! I think everyone else on the forums should follow my lead, if you have had eye surgery STOP JUMPING IMMEDIATELY!! Also, make sure you don't drive a car without your seatbelt, because you WILL die. Don't drink a beer, because you WILL become an alcoholic Don't eat any rare beef, because you WILL get MAD cow And last but not least, DO NOT have unprotected sex because you WILL either get pregnant/ get someone pregnant AND get an STD don't bother replying....... I'm done with this thread!!
  6. Hope you never get punched or hit in the eye in FF, or have an airbag deploy... or it's goodbye corneal flap I was responding to this ^, you are stating it as a fact, which is isn't. I am going by 5yrs and almost 2000 jumps worth of experience. No I don't jump regularly without goggles, but have due to student not have them(my fault) or some "new guy" on the plane not having theirs and being scared to go without. I can't say anything about an airbag, as I've never had to use one. I have however been in some toughman contest and been punched in the head and face with no problems. I respect your knowledge and books, I just don't think you should make a sweeping statment like this.
  7. Not true! I had LASIK 5 yrs ago. Have been in some combat zoo dives, jumped without goggles, am a tandem instructor (we get hit in the head often in freefall and on opening) am a "swooper" as well and had a few crashes. I have had zero problems with my eyes! Where/Who told you this about LASIK?
  8. Landed a jonathan 136 wl of 1.8 with a broken D line and a blown center cell, it was a top skin rip. Didn't notice either one until after landing. Flew and landed pretty normally. I even did my normal 180 approach.
  9. My mistake, was thinking it was a vigil. You are correct, it was an argus.
  10. Nothing on either of these, but there was another one as well. Think it was Sunday morning. Had one fire(not me) at normal opening altitude when the jumper deployed his main. So it was a two out, and he chopped the main.
  11. I've flown both, I own a radical 135 wl of 1.8 and have jumped a cobalt of the same size. radical seems to come in a little faster, so it may be a little steeper. Front riser pressure seemed to be lighter as well. I have been told(could be wrong) that the radical is supposed to be more like the comp cobalt.
  12. I just got a tempo 250 (mfg 97) It has never been used or even hooked up. There are no marks or creased line to know where to place the toggles. So my question is, how far below the cat eye should the toggle be placed on a tempo 250?
  13. just landed and alive! walked out of the boxes
  14. I know of a chaplin that is a fun jumper, he is also a TI. He seems to be pretty laid back, doesn't walk around the dz preaching and doesn't get onto people about cursing when he's around. On the other hand all the fun jumpers know he is a chaplin and seem to act a little more mature when he is around, All in all we just treat him like one of us!
  15. yep, I do, every jump for the past 5ish yrs! Gatorz with a bungee :)
  16. here ya go. static line is in my hand, I know its not the prettiest container. Was just thrown together the night before, as the DZO originally said I could just do a hand held direct bag. Then decided the day before that he didn't like that idea and it needed a container to help control the lines.
  17. I believe so. I'm not really sure how much force is applied to the attachment points upon opening, but the one bar-tack just doesn't seem to be enough to me. I like to over build things though And it seems to me that they are going in the wrong direction. I'm no rigger, but it seems it would be stronger if the stitching was in line with lanyards vs going across. Not sure if that makes sense? I'm a welder(among other things), and applying the fundamentals from that field, it makes sense to run your support in line with for force pulling on it.
  18. am using a standard bag, have been thinking about going to a stowless. Taking the weight into consideration though, I may stay with the regular one.
  19. I made a version of option A. I did move the cutaway handle to the chest strap of the second harness, and made sure it was a different color(main cutaway blue, tertiary cutaway red). I also made small container for the tertiary canopy similar to a belly reserve. However my tertiary canopy was the first deployed(by direct bag, static line) This way nobody has to hold it for you, and the bag stays with the plane. Then you have your regular main and then standard EP's in case of second main cutaway. This set-up does still leave the problem of the risers being loose, but wasn't much of a problem. Just have to be a little extra careful while moving around.
  20. here are pics of the ripped off attachment points. So my thoughts are bar-tack where the old ones where, then with the extra long tab, go over the cable housing then sew the extra stitching. Maybe turn the attachment points to the same angle that the lanyards run.
  21. something along these lines. Can't do the exact same, as the cable setup is different. Maybe make the tab extra long, put this on the inside of the cable and a bar-tack on the outside of the cable
  22. I was never able to find mine :( I emailed para-concepts yesterday, and haven't gotten a response. Not really expecting anything from them, but a sorry would be nice :) I think when I sew new tabs on, there will be more than a bar-tack!!
  23. para concepts. Have had no problems with it up until this point. Have put probably 100/150 jumps on the slider alone, both terminal and sub-terminal.
  24. So Friday I lost my pilot chute, d-bag, and RDS lanyards. Was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? I have been jumping a partial rds(slider only) for about a year. I finally decided to hook up the rest of it and try it out. First jump went great, did about a 8-9 sec delay and perfect opening. Landed, packed again just as before, did a quick two way with a buddy prob 20 sec or so. When I opened was a little hard but nothing horrible, have had much worse. Anyway I look up and the slider is there, but nothing else. When I get on the ground I see that the lanyards attachment points have been ripped off. So my question is, is this common, has it happened to anyone else?
