I've got a situation I'm not very happy with. It's over 8 hours of pay. Let me setup the situation. Monday Houston was experiencing a storm that caused flooding on major thoroughfares. Making it tough to get around. At 6:45am I called my supervisor, he informed me to "stay home, it's flooded here at the plant and you shouldn't try to make it in." So basically I've been told to stay home. (Cool!!) ... Well.. we (those of us who were told to stay home) get to work yesterday and are informed "Monday wasn't an weather day" so we've got to use a sick day or a vacation day to make up for lost pay. I'm irate because I was going to try and make it into work. If I had known, I would have tried to get to the office once the storms died down. This was not my supervisors decision, it was made by his boss. Yet not by HR of the company. Supposedly Monday wasn't considered an "in-climate weather day" but only a hand full made it in, and they only did it because they didn't call first. Now those who came in at "late" basically after their 8am start time are being credited for 8 hours with no use of sick or vacation time. So if I had showed up to work at noon (some did) I wouldn't be using any of my personal time off. I'd get credit for 8 hours. *edit* for spelling.. So really is this right? I know it's not fair, but can they (the bosses) get away with this crap? Yep I'm in RSS overload! I got to messing around with Google's homepage and wow I've got information overload! Actually it's pretty cool feature.
