This has been beat to death over and over again. Here's my .02 I just bought a rig for one hell of a deal! It didn't come with a cypress. I am in the process of paying off the rig and jumping it without one. When I can afford one yes I will jump with it and it will be on. I feel safe in the air with or without it. Yes I want one but at this time the cost is to much. So I feel it's better for me at this point in my skydiving to jump without one and stay current then sit it out for a few months until I can afford one. I know the argument about "isn't your life worth $1000..." I agree with that. If I had the cash it would be another story. Some of you people here make alot more money then some of us others. I will and do jump without one and I have jumped with one. The one thing I will not jump with is an RSL. That's a whole other argument/discussion.. 0(no comment):2:0 Got one 2-way FF with pop at Spaceland on Thursday 4th. Exit was ok pop is a "floaty bitch" hehe was supposed to be a 2-way sit.. I spent the entire dive on my back trying to slow enough so he could keep up. Great dive anyways!! Did another 2-way on Saturday with Zennie. Exit was a bit screwy.. I corked on the hill. Got it stable, then went into a stand to catch Zennie. Back to the sit Zennie got within 8' of me an then 4500 came wasn't able to try again had a family party to go to that afternoon. All in all had a great weekend!! On a breezy day you'll see it is much easier to fly and land. I do agree with some of the others specialy sktbytch you need to demo a Spectre. I flew one and loved my opening and the landings. I unlike cloud9 like the surf and the Spectre had none. So maybe a demo is in order. Really I didn't call myself a "skydiver" until I finished all my student jumps and made some solos. IMO the tandems are like someone paying for an amusment ride. Students are "skydiver wannabes" and people who jump on a regular basis are "skydivers" IMHO... I did my first jump because a friend came to me when I was in a cloud of jagermeister induced uphoria. He said "Hey man ever wanted to leap from an airplane?" My response was well pretty unintelligable but, he got the idea I wanted to. So about a year ago {July 14th 2001} we made a trip to the DZ with 3 of our friends. All of us went on the same load. I am the only one of the original 4 that have completed my student jumps. We all had the same idea when we hit the ground. I'm going to do this again and again. Well I decided to continue my jumping and become a "skydiver" because I enjoyed the feeling that freefall and canopy flight gave me. The feelings of freedom in a huge wide open sky. The ability to save my own life! Now it's more the challenge to learn now things and perfect my skills so I can be invited on larger ways. After sometime of hanging around the DZ I've made alot of friends and get invited to jump numerous times a day. I prefer to do solos and 2 ways because I am still learning. I'm about to the point where some larger {4-way & campfires} are attainable goals. I guess another reason I skydive is because it is cool if you say that isn't a reason your missing it Plus most whuffo chics dig it!! I guess the biggest reason I do it is the "excape" factor and I want to.....
