Well well, I downloaded this Overnet, did the "dummy install" let it install itself instead of doing the custom. I got ALL KINDS of spyware. Or I should say software I didn't want in my system. Added 7 process, 86 files, 4 different folders.. Well I deleted this ASAP.. Just be careful is all I have to say. At home I use Mozilla, at work I have to use Internet Exploder, company says so *shrugs* but I do run a free popup stopper while browsing with IE. Another nifty little tool that's free if you guys want to check it out. Popup stopper http://www.panicware.com It's also free and does a decent job of stopping those annoying popups. I got caught one time in a "popup farm" while surfing once. Since then I've had my little buddie standing by to ZAPP those ads. Now, one little tip when using this product. So you have to turn it off sometimes to get the windows to pop you actually want to see.. It'll scan your machine for infected spyware programs and reg entries, then quaranteen them. It then gives you the option to delete them, or just log them in a folder incase it grabs some files you need. I consider myself a safe surfer. I never download from strange sites. I scan everything most of the time. Unless I know what I'm getting. My virus scanner is updated weekly..etc.. I got curious this morning and downloaded Ad-ware 6.0 and ran a scan. I found 3 Registry Entries, 56 infected cookies they were all from some --> (Tracking Co.) The cookies were set from different companies. Most of the cookies I have no idea how they were set. I've not visited most of these company websites!! Some on the list are; Best Buy, Walmart, HP, Pioneer, Sony.. the list goes on of the companies this little shareware found that was tracking my movements on the internet. Was rather discomforting to find out. I haven't loaded any Filesharing programs. Just picked these up on different sites I guess. Figured I'd post up the link, the file and service is free. Now my question is; Is this a form of Spyware too? That I'll need another scanner to find and remove?
