They say people are just dumbstruck by it, and it doesn't register what is happening. It's more of a 'not even knowing what's going on' thing than an acceptance. I think it's more a "deer in the headlights' thing... You know what's going on but your in such shock you can't move. Oh you're a Dorkette!! I actually don't have a USPA A number. I never sent in for it. I was going to get my numbers up and get a C. I do have an A though. I have my signed off card stamped by a USPA instructor. It's non other then our own hooknswoops. Who better? You have a right to post in any of the forums. Just be carefull what you post. As myself I used to be an open book with my profile. Since what happened to PhillyKev I wiped everything personal. My jump numbers and other info are correct. People "know" me I've been here forever. So my cred is actually being here. I do not give advice or normally post in any other forums. Very valid points. Does it mean you're alone when not in the physical presense of another person. Even if the tool you're using to communicate with that person is a visual representation of the person you're talking to. That "avatar" can move, pick up stuff, walk and talk. Does this not just place the person in an online enviroment? So if I'm in that same enviroment I am not alone. I am there with someone. Even though the thoughts and physical actions are on the outside of this box. We are actually together in an enviroment that dictates we communicate and interact. So the act of drinking a beer and interacting with a visual avatar in an online envrioment makes me "not alone" I am in the presense of another person. Just not physically in the presense of this person. Yep. You are alone. I do not consider posting on dropzone.com to be the same thing as socializing. If dropzone.com IS your social life, then thats your problem. Not drinking Ok posting on dropzone.com would be considered alone. But going into the chat room filled with people all talking and communicating at the same time. Or using teamspeak and communicating via voice (like talking on the phone) with a visual representation of that person on your screen. Granted they could be dressed like a military person or an elf. But it's a visual not physical representation of that person. You know they're a real person. You're both drinking at the same time, just not in the same room. Would you consider drinking and talking on the phone as drinking alone? I like to think and have intelligent conversations once in awhile. Even though my spelling and grammar normall suck toads. People can figure out what I'm trying to say and the ideas I'm trying to show them. Is not an online chat room or a game where you communicate via test or a teamspeak (voip) instant communication? Is what we're doing right now in this thread posting back and forth communication? I have to say gaming and chatting online is just like pounding a few at the bar with your buds. Only difference is they're not in the same room as you. So comes the question, are you really drinking alone? I think not since it's still communication just using different forms of it. Ok I worded my intial post incorrectly... I'm not actually asking if I have a drinking problem. I want to know if people think you're drinking alone in these situations. The reason "drinking problem" came into it was I was told when younger. "If you drink alone you've got a drinking problem" See what I mean? None of that figures into my question.. I have no problems with my drinking. This was a hypothetical question. With todays new "online communities" DZ.com being one. We have a Pub Night where people are at home drinking beer some of them are alone. So are they drinking alone or not? I do this all the time, I'll be gaming at home and know a few of the people I'm interacting with online are drining too. What makes this any different then being in a bar and interacting with those people and drinking a beer. Granted there is oral and writen communication from me to them and them to me via online tools. So does this not constitute "not being alone"? Just curious as to what others on the site thought about this subject. I was told once when I was younger that if a person drinks alone then they have a drinking problem. I sometimes drink alone while at home on the computer. I am interacting with other people in a chat room or a gaming enviroment. There are others in the online enviroment that are drinking beer. So is this drinking alone? Or am I actually drinking with other people? What do you think? Poll question.. Ok I have beer stages. They depend on what I'm doing, eating or wanting. Guinness - good for anything At a bar with Guinness & Bass on tap. Then it's a Black & Tan Sieara Nevada Pale Ale - for an all round good beer. Bud Light - for an everyday blue collar workers evening drunk. Good local beer is St Arnolds Amber brewed right here in Houston. Shiner Bock - when out with the rednecks and there is no Guinness around. Sure have. He was an idiot and got himself killed. I also don't think he was able to steal a M1A2. I think he was in an older model tank. I want one for the drive to and from the office. The traffic has gotten bad. So I figured if the assholes can't drive I'll just drive over them. The M1A2 can reach a speed of about 65-70mph on hard flat surfaces. So driving highway speeds wouldn't be a problem. It's just for the dumbasses on the road. Would be a small reminder.
