  1. Well, if you want to sell it please let me know! If I had known all this I would have kept mine from the 60s. Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  2. Anyone have an old PC manual they would like to sell? Just aquired 2 PCs and would like to have a manual to go along with them! I used to jump a PC back in the 60s and early 70s. It was a great rig! Even had a few coffee can lids under my feet a few times! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  3. Thanks! When is this on the air and what station? I live outside of Atlanta. Is it on every week or what? Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  4. Thanks for the info. I am a Capt for United and do understand a great deal about weather but having jumped rounds mostly ( some squares back in the early 70's) I was wondering about the word calapse. After revieing my foggy memory on squares and reading your post I can see where the top of a canopy can suddenly, or gradually loose some airflow with the lines like they are. Good food for thought for a newbee! including me! Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  5. Ok, I'm not new to the sport but have not jumped in quite sometime. Just starting back! Please explane why a canopy will collapse. Is it wind shear, or something else? Just read about a canopy colapse at 20 ft. alt. Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  6. You will not regrete it ! Wieghtless bless and an obsession for life! Great people of like minds! Prepare to be jump poor! You won't be able to make enough jumps in a day! Have fun! Bigbug Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  7. Well I'll be damned,Popy. How have you been? Sure has been a long time! I have often wondered about you and all the people I knew back then. Where they might be and such. Might know you would still be in the game. You were like THE man back then as I am sure you are now! You have got to be kidding me...still jumping an old PC. Ya just gatta love it! I know you'll rec the antiques in my pic here. My 2 boys just started jumpin and I can not just watch! Have to jump again after 32 yrs. I quit when I got married and persued a career with the airlines. I know you heard Jack Woodall died smoking in bed back in the early 70's. He was a great jump pilot and friend. Merl Ledbetter died of cancer about the same time. Well, It was sure great to hear from you and I would love to see you again! Keep in touch and if your ever in Ga let me know! Wayne8577@cs.com Next time I'm down in the area I'll try to look you up! Wayne Roach Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  8. Anyone ever jump in Ft Lauderdale back in the 60's with the Gold Coast Skydivers out on old St Rd 84? Jack & Marion Woodall started it with Merle Leadbetter. Jumped out of a C-180. Old 42 Charlie we calld her! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  9. Well, mine was a camo tripple T. Then a TU-7. Then a red, black, yellow check Para-Commander. Only six like it in the world. Jumped in Ft. Lauderdale in the 60's with the Gold coast Skydivers. Bought a square in the early 70's(71 I think). Ya couldn't do terminals in it. Very hard openings. ya could only do hop&pops! Just started jumping again after 32 yrs. My 2 sons just started and I just can't sit and watch any longer! I know ya can relate to the pic! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  10. Yea, I jumped there many years ago. It was a wild place. Lots of fun. Did most of my jumps in FLL with the Gold Coast Skydivers. Jack Woodall was the pilot. We used a C-180. Great a/c. Also jumped in DelRay and Homestead in the early days! I am just starting back jumping after 32 years. My 2 sons just started 2 mo ago. I just can't stand around and watch any longer! Lots of changes though! Did you by any chance know Bob Bowen or Roy Barnes? Wayne Roach Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  11. Great! Glad to here there is some greyhairs like me still around. Man this sport has changed in the last 32 yrs. This swooping stuff looks like fun but at my age I might need to go to an OLD T-10 or something! That would be real trick-swoop in a T-10! You probably recognise the antiques in my pic! Thanks for the welcome! Bigbug Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  12. They were great guys but was hard to land soft when ya jump from 100 feet! One heck of a PLF though! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  13. Well, it took some grey matter, what little is left,to finally figure it out but got it done. Thanks so much for your help!!!
  14. Just have to ask... How did you put the pic on your posts? I've tried but no luck! I have a FF pic of myself from 32 yrs ago in some antique gear over Ft Lauderdale I would like to have on my posts ! Thanks in advance! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  15. Thanks! can't type or spell here! Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  16. Did it take a long time to put a pic on your post like i see? I've tried to put a FF pic of myself in some antique gear I have but it seems to take forever. Any thoughts? Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  17. I sure like POPS better than Ol TimerI Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  18. Hey, Sorry if I offended, didn't mean to! I work in NY as I'm a pilot for United. Good people there as well as S. Fla. I lived in Tamarac which is mostly a retirment area. Enough said bout that. Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  19. Sure does! Had to get out of Fla. Too many nasty people have moved in all wanting to tell you how to live your life and wanting to sue everyone for anything! Do miss the weather! Now live in Ga and will be jumping in Monroe and Thomaston.
  20. Thanks! Really looking foward to wieghtless bless again! Wayne Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
  21. Well, hello! New to this forum but not new to the sport ( I think) as I am 56 and returning to the sport after 32 years. I use to jump in Ft. Lauderdale with the Gold Coast Skydivers Club and was at the first jump at Homestead Fla. I also jumped at Indiantown Fla. back then. I jumped round rigs from TU-5 to Para-commanders, and some of the first square rigs they came out with. ( only hop&pops on the squares as terminals were not aloud) I have 1741 jumps but this has become a whole new sport. Very exciting! Any oldtimers out there from Fla give me a shout! Soft landings. Wayne Roach Here's to Old Farts in the Wind!
