  1. So your solution would be to go beyond McCain-Feingold and complete piss on the 1st Amendment? You're talking about prior restraint - and how do you distinguish between regular politicking and running for president? You can't. You infer quite a bit. Just looking (perhaps too hard) for something to bitch about?
  2. I think we tend to put Presidents from other generations up on pedestals(sp?). With the scrutiny modern presidents are put under, it's hard to compare. LBJ, Nixon, Reagan and Clinton all have some great aspects to their legacies.
  3. I think the compress primaries make this election worse than it already was, but we're definitely in a lull in terms of dynamic leadership for either party, as proven by the two Bushes and [potentially] two Clintons. It wasn't really any better in 2000 or 2004. How about election reform? Wouldn't it would be great if no one could register or campaign before March or April of the election year? A few months for primaries, have the conventions and 3-4 months for the parties' candidates to campaign, and then we're done for three and a half years. Yeah... I know... a pipe dream. This crap of starting your run almost 2 years before the election is obscene. It's not candidacy. It's a fucking war of attrition.
  4. Considering that Cheney's probably the most hated man on the planet I'd say he's trying to bolster US/Foreign relations. If it were me I'd have used "mean old crazy honkey", you know, giving him his "props". Thanks for illustrating my point.
  5. The secret that really matters, that people should be asking about, is Obama's membership in the Council on Foreign Relations (along with all other mainstream candidates from both parties). Not to mention the fact that Zbigniew Brzezinski, one of the founders of the Trilateral Commission, has endorsed his candidacy. To me that's pretty telling of where he's coming from, and that he does not have the interest of the people of the US in mind. While it would probably be interesting to read your views on those relationships, does your post have anything to do with the content of the OP?
  6. Catering to the DU/moveon.org crowd?
  7. Except when it's used to show Bush isn't the first president to demonstrate a certain behavior.
  8. "Conjecture" - Look up the meaning of the word. guess; speculation
  9. Seems like anyone should be able to use a jammer on their own property, with proper signage... restaurants, theaters, designated cars on commuter trains, schools.... Just my two cents.
  10. Hmmm .... how about the Rushmc & Kallend nightly radio commentary on politics, culture, and skydiving? It wouldn't work. Radio talking heads tend to be very specific on where they stand on a given subject. Expecting listeners to infer what you may have meant won't cut it.
  11. Aw, come on. This after the fact, Monday morning quarterbacking is kind of weak. One year ago, crude was at $54.00/barrel. In early '07 it dipped below $50.00/barrel.
  12. Only "right" minded people seek out misinformation? That explains why CBS viewrs ran a close second Fox viewers on having misperceptions.

  14. And so it goes. Do you mean that something unstoppable is coming? VR/Marg I can't really comment on whether or not a major selloff (possibly a recession) is unstoppable, I just think the top is in and we're headed much lower.
  15. Events suggest it would more likely be a pissy anti-gay right wing Christian like Phelps and his followers. The difference being that if it happened to Phelps no one would be defending him, whereas if some lefties got smacked around, all the usual suspects would be whining about fascism, police states and having all our constitutional rights being stolen by the current administration. No doubt, the cost of the war in Iraq would get dragged into it... and probably some talk about Bush denying poor children the healthcare they so urgently need. And the federal debt. Don't forget about that. Oh, the humanity.
  16. Oh yeah! Yes, I could have worded that better, but you know what I mean You mean Kallend is intentionally misunderstanding your point? Say it ain't so.
