Google searched myself today. Ever done that? Type in your name within quotes... "Phil McCrackin" And see what comes up! You might have a twin, and you'll also see what things you've done on the net in the past... like an e-footprint. Turns out I checked out one page that had my name on.. www.airsportz.com I had won a free skydive(s) for being on their mailing list. WOOHOOOO!!! :D All hail Atlanta Air Sportz DZ! Well atleast I do! Course me being up here in New Hampstershire... Only been to Atlanta (the city, not the dz) twice... it's a bit of a trip, But most likely my crazy side will shine through and I'll do a nice little road trip down there to visit and get some jumps in!! Assuming I finish the rest of my levels at kickin' Skydive New England, I'm gonna test out the O2 over GA! Anyone down there? The same thing goes true for terrorists on commercial planes. It'll never be 100% safe.. but every measure taken to increase security helps... is the 1 millionth chance worth $1,000 ? My personal take on this- as a total newcomer- just from the people I hang around, and what I've heard... when it comes time for me to buy my own rig... cause its going to happen eventually- I'll wait until I can fork over the cash for the complete deal. But the thoughts earlier about Alt Awareness make sense to me too. Education is important. And I'm at the best dropzone for that! --- It's like a farmer, out-standing in his field.

You're right- while slander is difficult to prove (must show intent to cause damage) the legal costs of defending such a case are just about as harmful as a judgement against. Why should DZs care if info is disclosed... like you said, there are so many waivers, you couldn't sue them anything. I guess its the 'good name' of the DZ at stake. But shouldn't reputation be legit, with full disclosure? Its true though.. there's a DZ not 10 minutes from me where people have died recently and has a "currency" (a wink to the currency discussion folks) of accidents in the local newspaper. I have even heard stories of someone who knew the person who fell out of the sky. When I searched out which DZ to make my first tandem- you can bet that was a part of my decision. It also was more expensive. Poor safety records hurt business. I know it's easier said that done- but the proactive approach to safety seems the best for all parties. --- I'm rambling but its fun.

What if you did the ol' storybook waiver at the beginning... The stories involved have their names changed, and DZ's changed, and equipment... idono.. Or saying that the information is only for educational purposes. Worse can scenario you could say the information is for "entertainment" purposes only- it saves you from the lawyer armies but that seems kind of 'not cool.' What about the whole thing with Public Disclosure? If the government has to disclose certain things.. should we also have a right to other information- ..? Its easy to ask questions, harder to answer them. :)

Followed the link on one of the recent posts, Noticed a fatality on http://www.skydivingfatalities.com/ and that the person was observed to be "potato-chipping"... during the jump? Whats that mean?

Well it certainly helps me learn from what can go wrong and to mentally prepare for the odd-est of situations... But if you really think about it. Sharing the fatality information gives that person's "ending" some significant meaning. I would certainly want people to know what happened to me and how they can avoid doing the same thing.

Hey ya'll Got a Slipstream II for my b-day from my girlfriend. Cool gal huh? The problem is I'm still doing my AFF levels- have no idea if I should use this yet (of course its the JM's call) but what do you all think? Also, how friggin' tight are these Slipstream II's suppose to be? Skin tight with just shorts on- is that the sign of the need for an upgrade or is this my initiation into the world of skinny skydivin'???? They gotta be snug for RW ya? It's kinda restricting in terms of arching- is that gonna be no biggy in the air, where its always easier to arch? Much appreciated! :)

sounds good to me... my thought was that if the peeps who are responsible for the picture used photoshop- they wouldn't use one with the double exposure sun. cause if you're gonna take a pic of a plan and then add skydivers.. whats the point of having something in it like that? its legit.

ya great pic, could you explain the importance of the picture? obviously it seems wrong but i can pinpoint exactly whats incorrect.. (though i had a feeling that I prob wouldn't jump with any mess of fabric and wires... i remember them being a lot more organized..) clue me in!
