An antitrust case? Not with Bush and his pals in office. As a few others have mentioned, he has very deep ties with the oil companies.
A couple of things that baffle me about the gas price situation:
1. Oil companies are raking in record profits, but they are receiving billions in subsidies and tax breaks. That is akin to Bill Gates receiving welfare checks -- it just doesn't make sense.
2. Supply and demand is often touted as the primary reason for the high prices. But it has been around 30 years since even a single refinery has been built in this country. Since there is an obvious supply bottleneck here, why are the oil companies not doing more to fix this? (Especially given the corporate welfare I mentioned before)
