Back in school, on the tube stations- entering the number selection repeatedly (eg 1212121212.. for item 12)sometimes gave multiple items (an extra 1 or 2) or listening carefully and pressing coin return just as the item was released could give some money back. donnt know if it works on the newer machines (this was 5+ years ago..

In my first term of my first year at uni I discovered Calvin and Hobbes in the local Borders. I bought all the collecions they had there and then- I ended up with more Calvin and Hobbes than textbooks! (..might explain a few nicknames i had in the first year) Did you know over in Norway they're called "Tommy og Tiggern" (Tiger) ? I always buy a copy on the way back at the airport, which would explain why i have only New Years editions and late summer ones. ("Fantomet" in Norway is pretty cool too)

Just sent Tom A a PM to get a copy, but if someone in the UK will copy some it'd make sense to get it locally!
-
dude, this is the dumbest thing you ever did as a kid thread- that sounds like the coolest!

Hey Tom, could you tell me where i can find "Track or Die" i know other people were looking for it 'cas it was waiting under 'recent searches' on skydivingmovies when i headed over to look for it myself! (oh and it wasnt there- hence the post!!)
-
I've tried to get hold of a copy by emailing the gmail address but with no luck, is that how everyone else got theirs? duh!!-having said this i now recall reading in norwegian on onheading.com that they were no copies left but they did suggest copying other peoples dvds! so if someone can make a copy id be glad to paypal some money over!

hey, having done AFF this summer i want to take my whole family (me mum dad brother(15) and sister(18) ) to a wind tunnel and let them have their 2 minutes. (hopefully i can get a subsidy from my dad to pay!) so i was wondering in your opinion which tunnel would give the best overall experience for a family of 1st timers?

Would this be the "New Standards"DVD by VKB?

Matt, whilst I have never had to deal with what you have experienced, you ask whether you are walking the right path in life. Clearly I am not going to weigh it up but all I wanted to say was that i keep coming back to watch The Moab Chronicles that you posted on skydivingmovies and it gives me the most satisfying feeling you can imagine. It inspires me to follow dreams and not accept convention. As I sit here with 2 essays in for tomorrow I only think that I do not want to pursue the city jobs we get hassled for here, but rather live a freer life closer to my dreams and surrounded by people that are truly open and engaging who themselves have decided what life is for, rather than being dragged through it. One of the most visible steps I've taken would be learning to skydive this summer, but clearly this is amoungst the first step of many, and not all can be seen, but are changes to attitudes and feelings within oneself. So I guess that while recent events clearly are painful to you, I for one admire how you have chosen to walk your own direction in life, and you have helped inspire me do the same for myself.

wow, i would love my mum to do i skydive, but it'll never happen. My grandma is toying with the idea of doing it for her 70th in a couple of years. (or she's just humouring me ?) A couple of days before my 1st jump she said she couldn't believe i was going to do it- so i said there's no reason YOU can't. At first she just goes "NO WAY!" but after a few seconds says "hmmm...maybe i could for my 70th!!!" ps - just realised- CAN you jump at 70??? is it just an absolute age thing or is it fitness?..hmmm now i really go to know! really jealous your mum jumped- My mum seemed scared of tunneltime when i described it to her!

hi guys, i posted for the first time on thursday, moaning that i missed the monthly london skydiver's pub meet, but figured i'd post here too! Did my AFF this summer in Voss, Norway which was simply the best week i've had. (I'm half English half Norwegian). Memorable jumps during AFF were through rain (its those pointy ends...) and when my Altimeter jammed without realising right away! Haven't jumped back in the UK yet due to transport issues/Uni etc....(why dont people just get given a car as a basic human right?!) anyway im keen get my A license and hope the fact that i did AFF in Norway wont be a major issue. I met Al and Pixie ( from Langar?) and a guy called Adam who'd just done his FJC @ Kjerag, but cant find any email addresses! Anyway im looking forward to jumping some more and meeting new faces! Cheers, Steffen ps im based in Amersham and Cambridge, any tips on best places to go from there? otherwise i think i might just head to langar as thats been recommended a few times.

whenever i get what feels like the skydive horn in the evening with no way of getting to the dropzone, i just climb stuff in college, which is extra cool when you only just miss getting caught by the porter's doing their rounds!..oh and there's a nice building site next door with a nice big crane.....cheap adrenaline just sneaking to get access to it and then getting up! the night view is awesome and makes me like about the day i might be ready to try Base!....

hi guys, this is my first post here. did my AFF in norway this summer @ Voss (extremesportsweek place) which was awesome. havent jumped back in the UK yet...(i'll mess up final year @ uni for sure if i go each weekend)....but as soon as i can pursuade a mate with a car to take me- im off! Anyway- right now i am REALLY MAD with myself as i should be down in london having skydive beers and meeting some local skydivers....but stupid uni stuff messed up my night!!! (I did meet some english people in Voss- Al and Pixie (from Langar?) and another guy called Adam, who'd just done the FJC @ kjerag, but lost email contacts!!!) anyway guys hope you all had fun and look reasonably presentable (if present) at work on friday... look forward to meeting some of you guys in the future! Steffen ....at least there are a bunch of new vids on skydivingmovies.com to check out tonite.... ps just found google uk skydiving groups and yahoo london skydivers, but tips about the UK scene before i get my arse over to a DZ? (im based in either Amersham/Cambridge)
