  1. Ohio peeps will remember this band, one of the best to never go nationwide... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G50CZ5lw2CQ 18 and chasing the ladies at MSG concerts in Ytown!!!
  2. Conspiracy theories and how the rescue workers have been treated are two different topics. Bring your gear.
  3. I will invite you one more time. The FDNY hockey team will be in SoCal in February. Many of them were there on 9/11. Come on down and say hi.
  4. My skydive rig was stolen about 15 years ago. A guy (Carl Nespoli) found it at the local swap meet and bought it. I know it's a long shot but what the hell, maybe you will find it. A friend's rig was just swiped and they found it out in an orchard. Thieves don't know what to do with our gear. Bastards! And if you need to borrow a BASE rig, let me know, I have one you can use, Mojo 280, Perigee. Good Luck!
  5. If God showed up I think the #1 question would be "What happens when we die?" What other reason is there to believe except for an afterlife in Heaven? Once that got answered there may be a bit of mayhem from the usual suspects, but it would be short lived. If there is a really cool heaven then what pleasure would the nutters have in killing anyone? I would just hope that when God appears, he sorts out all of the crooked televangelists, preachers and priests...
  6. I think this will be a good topic to discuss in Belize with rum in hand. Lots of rum...
  7. Marty and Karla Tilley were jumping together years ago also. But you gotta sell that fish wrap!!!
  8. Nice job! I want to head out there one of these years and join you guys.
  9. http://www.xtremedivers.com/boogie.shtml I'm not sure if jumpers really understand what goes into organizing an "exotic boogie" in a foreign land. Many great events have been done in by bad organizing, lack of co-operation from the nation it is held and jumpers simply deciding to go somewhere else. At the "Boogie in Belize" we usually have between 120-130 participants. We fly an otter down from Perris to ensure a good jumpship, three jump pilots and two mechanics. That's insurance, and we have a government that welcomes us with open arms, rare in the skydive world. It seems boogies have become more family reunion and less about aircraft. Lost Prairie is the usual 200+ suspects. ESA has their crowd, Belize has a lot of the same participants, etc. The economy isn't helping things either for exotic boogies. Jumpers have less to spend these days. It takes me about five months of organizing to pull off a success for ten days. And this is our sixth year. I would encourage all jumpers to attend an exotic boogie to see what it's like. You will have a GREAT time at any of the ones you choose. Belize is sold out, see you in 2011! It's pretty unique.
  10. Nice shots of the boys skydiving in also.
  11. 1. Because humans are not infallible. People make mistakes. 2. I don't like the idea of government having the authority to kill. 3. It's much, much cheaper to imprison someone for life. Here in California we have a case that has gone on forever. Back in the early eighties a guy named kevin Cooper hacked up a family in Chino Hills. He has just finally exhausted his last ditch efforts at the Supreme Court level. Without getting into it is right or wrong to kill a convict, do you guys think your home states drag their feet on death penalty cases? And justinb138, three good points. IMHO
  12. Where does he work, what rank and how long has he been on the job? I'll let you know what he makes!
  13. Ken Biros was finally excecuted after 18 years on death row. He hacked up and ate the body parts of a 22 year old girl. They found him with part of her liver in his car trunk and her blood on him. It was a big ordeal because the state used a one drug cocktail to kill him instead of the three drug method. This case really got me thinking about our death penalty and how long it takes to be carried out. He admitted doing it and it still went on for years. Do we really need the death penalty? Do states really want to carry it out? Mr. Biros was a pretty nerdy and quiet guy in high school. He was in the band and the chess club if I remember right. He was 2 years ahead of me at the same small Ohio high school. So what do you guys think? Do states really still want to carry out the death penalty.
  14. Federal firefighters make a paltry sum and work a 72 hour work week.
  15. Not true... Tanya and Craig O'Brien are doing just fine and have two beautiful little girls. Lew, really, Tanya a good skysurfer? She is great and single handedly killed the sport because the boys were tired of having a 100lb dynamo kick their asses!
  16. BWWAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! It took until December but that's the greatest post of the year on dizzy.com!!!!!!! BWAAAHHHH!!!!
  17. Thanks GLIDEANGLE. I'm trying to remember why I got my D way back when and I think it was to compete in the open class. Or maybe it was to get a PRO rating for some stadium jumps we did...geez a mind is a terrible thing to lose. Night jumps are a funny thing. People either love them or hate them it seems.
  18. Do you still need a "D" to compete in the open class at Nationals?
  19. Comparing Obama, who is actually in a job he isn't quitting anytime soon, to a notorious quitter...puleeeze. You can dislike Obama all you want, but don't compare him to that Alaska trailer trash loser Palin.
  20. North Shore...hmmmm...Nia.....
  21. I have landed out many times over the years and found myself in a backyard once. We'll get back to that in a minute. Many jumpers get to skydive in very wide open spaces. Eloy and Perris come to mind first. When you always jump at a wide open DZ it is easy to let your canopy skills stay at a certain level without progressing. You look down and always see lots of open area, even on bad spots. Now go jump at the Ranch and be off abit with the spot. You had better be able to land with the rows of an apple orchard. Been there done that at the Ranch. So back to my backyard landing. Guess what DZ that was near? Skydive Arizona. I landed right in a Toltec backyard while the nice resident was out hanging her laundry. It was the best spot to land due to a bunch of dust devils at the moment. The ol' double whammy under canopy. Accuracy and judging the wind under your main and reserve canopies will save your life someday. I lived at Skydive AZ for a few years. You wouldn't believe the canopy carnage from folks hitting non moving objects all around the DZ. Get with an instructor to work out your visuals under canopy to help judge your touchdown area. You WILL need it someday.
  22. I thought it was Caribou Barbie/Joe the Plumber in 2012!!!!
