Should an AFFI lose their rating if they 'drop' a student?
artistcalledian replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Instructors
i've only got 15 jumps and only just passed my AFF on my 12th jump (level 7) i did my track, but started to spin... i span faster than i've ever span and couldn't stop. My instructor came in to stop me, i kicked him while spinning and dislocated his shoulder, he then broke his foot on landing. He didn't stop my spin, but i'm so so glad he tried to stop me... i couldn't reach my PC as my arms where being forced out with the centrafugal force... i was panicking and kept trying to find my PC... i found it at about 3,000 feet and pulled. I also got told that i should have gone stright for my reserve at that altitude he was willing to catch a spinning student, i'll never forget that... he got a bottle of his favourit drink and my heart felt thanks ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police -

would i have said the same? yeah.. of course i'm not sure of what great depression you're talking about as i don't know your history in much detail, sorry about that, but a depression is nobodies fault, so you do what you need to do to feed your family, whats wrong with that? If you've had too many kids without giving thought on how you can feed them, i've not got much sympathy... if you had kids when everything was good and then, due to no fault of your own, life kicks you in the knackers... then you still have to get off your arse and do what you need to do. you can't just sit their and go "well, its not my fault i'm in this predicament, so i want a nice free ride please" get out there and do what ever it takes to feed your kids (work in a supermarket stacking shelves if you have to) there are always jobs out there (ok, they might not be well paid, thast life) I've been lucky in life in that i've always managed to be in a job since i left school in 1982, but i've got out there and got another job when i needed to, i'd do anything to pay my mortgage... i've got an ok job right now, but if i got made redundant tomorrow, i'd go and work in Burger king if it meant keeping a roof over my head I'd rather do the lowest of the low jobs than sit on the dole ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police

how many kids did they have? it really annoys me when people have kids and then can't afford to support them. I've got an answer for these people who can't feed their kids... don't have them in the first place !!!!!! Some people think its a right to have as many kids as they want, and don't even give a second thought to how they will feed and clothe them. You then end up with a large family on the dole (benefits) and everybody else has to pay for their keep, and feel gulity with bleeding hearts about how shite their life is.. blah blah blah Big deal, this mexican gets off his arse and does what he needs to to feed his family... why not? he had them, he should do what ever to feed them... its not rocket science (mind you, i once said that about solid fuel jet propulsion, and somebody said.. actually it is rocket science ) too many people with bleeding hearts in this world, all going on about how tought people have it when these people just happen to have spawned 8 times with out giving a thought on how they will look after their kids rant over i think i need a lie down ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police

to put things into perspective... i was told this... not my words... Rolex make 1 million watches a year, Patek Phillipe make 25,000 a year Patek have a little man who sits in his white robes all day just checking every cog under a powerful microscope, if he find a single flaw, whether thats a tiny scratch on the cog, or a bur between the teeth of the cog, or anything in fact... he chucks it in the scrap bin and they don't use it I think there are only 5 manufacturers who have gained the Geneva Seal for every watch they make http://www.timezone.com/library/itsabouttime/itsabout631674732705524456 Rolex patak phillipe Jaeger le Coultra not sure of the other two though ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police

The first "decent" watch that i bought was a Breitling Navitimer Olympus. I had the watch about 2 weeks and the winder broke and couldn't be wound manually.... back to the factory it went to their credit, they sent me a new one in replacement in just under 3 weeks. i had that one about 2 months and noticed some "stuff" (not really sure what the foreign object was, looked like a bit of fluff from a cleaning cloth) on the under side of the glass. Took it back to the shop and they sent it back to Breitling... came back fixed after about 2 weeks. After another month, i noticed something AGAIN under the glass, looked like some of the luminesent paint so the watch went back AGAIN to the shop....off back to Breitling it goes... This time they send me another new one (3rd watch at this point) and after another month, i notice YET ANOTHER foreign object on the inside of the glass, back it goes AGAIN.. this time the owner of the shop says that he'll ring the OWNER of Breitling (a guy who was a Count of somewhere, i forget his name) as he once met him at a watch convention and got on with him so well he had been given his phone number !!!! he rang the owner of Breitling and explained what was going on, This Count Von somebody, goes down to the factory, picks out another black faced Olympus by hand, sends me it over by special couier, along with a certificate for a free service, a Breitling back pack (not available to buy anywhere) a free crocodile strap to go with it, and a free folding clasp for the strap. I was like "fooking hell" what a geeza !!! and you guessed it.. this watch also had a foreign object on the inside of the glass after a couple of weeks. Aparently they have had a "bad batch" made and they were all returned to the factory. I got my money back from the shop at this point and bought a second hand Jeager Le Coultra Sold that and went back to a Navitimer which has SO FAR, been ok http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cosmo1111/arm.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cosmo1111/newwatch2.jpg Pateks are the dogs knackers though one day..oh yes, one day a Patek will be mine mwahahahahahaha ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police

artistcalledian replied to artistcalledian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i've only done toggle turns so far, i didn't even know you could grab the risers ! i asked my instructor about turning last weekend, he told me that no 180 turns below 1,000 feet and nothing more than a gentle 90 turn above 500... and nothing at all below 500 jeez, i've got much to learn ________________________________________ drive it like you stole it and f*ck the police -

Incorrect. When a canopy turns, it loses altitude quite quickly. To the original poster, I highly recommend The Parachute And Its Pilot, by Brian Germain. thanks -
