Straight people, like gay people, have the right to marry any partner the government approves of. Straight people, like gay people, should want the government to get out of the spouse-approval business. Then gay people should not expect the tax and legal advantages accorded to them under existing civil union laws. Perhaps the straight people will give them up too, and this'll be moot. I like what Robert A. Heinlein had to say on the subject of what the relationship between Military serivce and access to the political process ought to be.
