  1. nah saskia, totally wrong, ask henny: THE answer should be: thunderbow LOL you -almost- made me spray tea all over my laptop But do you think you can find new Thunderbows? Might be a market for them again ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. And THAT is something I'd expect from an AFF baby What is the most important part of the jump? That you land safely so you can jump again. SL jumpers get way more canopy time at first so they are free to focus on the most important part, getting down safely. A very good thing in my book. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Yeah you're missing the rest of the SL progression part SL (and IAD) follow a whole progression, which over here is 3 good SL exits followed by 2 consecutive dummy pulls, first freefall within 24 hrs after last dummy, first freefall is 10 secs, if that goes well you go on to do longer freefalls and get more freefall and other tasks, until you completed everything on your A card, same as a AFF student has to to earn his/her A. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. A Stiletto. Read this as: read a few of the threads on the first page of this forum. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. A tip: make sure you have 2 stacked crates (the ones you put soda/beer bottles in) or something similar as a step in the balloon, otherwise you'll have trouble lifting up the passenger. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Now that you know about the tracking, you can be amazed at the pulling in place again Click The "pull-outs" are the signals for every wave, plus of course the various cameramen/-women pull in place too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. You work at it, that's what. Linetwists are fairly common, closed end cells, stuck brakes, other more serious problems like broken lines, lineover etc not really so chances are very very good you'll get a better canopy than the one you just chopped. Also the reserve is a docile canopy, so even if you have a problem it is likely not as severe as the same problem would be on a more HP canopy. Sure I've fixed problems like stuck brakes, slider way up, linetwists, but all with plenty of altitude to spare, never have been under my reserve lower than 1600ft and that only was because I pulled low to start with, if I pulled higher might not even have needed a reserve ride, who knows. All in all, many more people have died trying to fix a problem (minor or not so minor) on their mains for too long than from any problem with their reserve. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Not cool indeed. Very unprofessional to say the least. Last weekend I cutaway from what on the ground looked like a perfectly good canopy too, fortunately I got a few more jumps so people first ASKED what was wrong with it, although I also got 'not AGAIN' Click (the last one in this vid, hence the 'not again' comment LOL) ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. You definitely need an AAD, and it cannot be a Vigil 1. ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. I couldn't get it to work but seems to have fixed itself, so all's well again
  11. I prefer the Sandisk Video HD sticks, got some Extreme III sticks too but those are quite expensive. Ultra II will work too but the video HD ones are ~ the same price and better suited to video. Sony is more expensive and not as fast. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. No remote possible, you'll have to use the screen buttons if you want slow-mo, hence editing on a pc is recommended. Same for the fades. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. The demo I jumped had vectran lines, not microline, I like vectran better and it's not much thicker than microline anyway. A Pulse packs up really small because of the fabric used for the ribs (same fabric as the Optimum uses). ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Eh yeah, last weekend's Techno 115 ride @ 1.6/1.7 didn't end with a very graceful landing ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. How? (Share what you learned.) O click (read the comments too) ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. I guess I'm dense... why 3 different canopies? What are the red circles pointing out? First canopy was a demo canopy, pulse 135 with nice linetwists (5 i think), got out of those though. Second canopy was my own back to back rig, fusion 120, both the center cell B-lines broke on opening (kinda hard to see on the low-res pic hence the red circles). Third canopy is my reserve (a pretty small one at that...). All this right after my previous reserve ride on my main rig... I'm not having a real good month click ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Not sure if this counts as a double mal, but after chopping a spinning Safire 135 I got a Transfair (128 sqft) with one endcell not inflated (at all). O-kay, had plenty of altitude, so tried to clear it several times and several ways. Couldn't. Landed it like that, had to counter steer with right toggle almost all the way down, landed behind the trees so coming in pretty fast, flared out of instinct or something even though I had decided I would not, did a left hook into the frozen ground, failed to roll so hit feet first face second. Ouch. Broke my nose. Learned how to inflate a reserve with no interconnection holes real quick after that ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. pretty much all cameraflyers jump Sony videocameras. Why? They work, and the accessories work with them. That Canon will not work with a hype-eye and there are no boxes for it for sale, if it has OIS you will be unable to back/sitfly with it without problems, you may or may not have problems with editing if it uses another variety of AVCHD than Sony does, and it very well may not last as long in the air as the average Sony would. Besides all that, you may not want to risk a camera you need for other purposes skydiving as the air isn't very camera-friendly environment, and particularly with newbie camera flyers it's easy to damage the camera, but that's your call. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Mine "rocked" as well, albeit in a much less fun way ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Easy enough, actually had 2 lines break on opening today myself Canopy felt good actually but saw 2 B-lines flying in the wind, so bye bye Fusion hello Techno. That's my 2nd reserve in a month's time, I'm SO not having a good month... Will post the video on sm later. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. You mean it gets stuck on one frame for a bit? That's just dirty heads, use a cleaningtape. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Here are the scoresheets and what canopies each team was jumping during the 2008 world championships CF. ciel bleu, Saskia
