  1. heh, I won't even touch the best DZ question with a 10 ft pole I will say that CMS has the friendliest jumpers at any DZ I have been at, and the atmosphere is really nice. Maybe the long climbs to altitude encourage the chamradie If you drop by, make sure to look me up, my name is Jesse. 6' big white guy with a pony tail. Just ask around - I've funneled enough jumps most people know me by now

    Home DZ

Central Michigan Skydivers, Mt. Pleasant, MI Two 182's and a 206. And no mountains.
  3. Damn! I was there just this last weekend getting in a bunch of jumps. Unfortunatly due to a PC in tow (beerable), I am now waiting for a new reserve handle to arrive Planning on staying till the weekend, or will you be out of there before then? I should be down this weekend. --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  4. Hehe, physically 21, mentally used to be about 40... aging rapidly backwards :) Too many life experiences without the vision and wisdom to see the good things in everything. Lifes a changing, and getting sunnier every day. :) (Oh, first cutaway yesterday - PC in tow) --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  5. Even easier way Setup some mailing list software designed for the purpose (NUMEROUS ones are available for free, and widely used for public mailing lists on the order of hundreds of thousands of subscribers) Any modern mailing list software will handle bounces completly automatically. There are tons of different ways to do it, all of which result in on outcome - no manual handling of bounces Almost all allow verifying subcribers before subscribing them to the liist, etc. Most are also hella fast. --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  6. No kidding! Whats up larry? been awhile! This is Jesse. Don't know how many other jumpers are planning on being at CMS this next weekend, but I know of at least two (including myself) making the trip from Traverse City. :) How have things been going? --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  7. You are missing something I am a single guy with a well paying job who jumps on weekends, and I don't see many single women jumpers. Sounds like crossed wires are par for the course. --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  8. For me jumping brought a clarity and beauty to life that I so rarely saw before, and helped with the confidence to persue things I think are worthwhile - regardless of the risk. Or, as I think one of my favorite quotes states so well: Conquering any difficulty always gives one a secret joy, for it means pushing back a boundary-line and adding to one's liberty. -- Henri Frederic Amiel A very pleasant change :) Now I just wish there where more skydiving chicas! So, do you FF or RW? --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  9. Got my B just a few weeks ago, and the S&TA has already scheduled a night jump for this friday.
  10. I started most of my sports and hobbies at or around when I first started jumping... Finally getting out into the world and getting a life I guess (hard to have a life when you are putting in 100 something hour work weeks). So, lets see... :) Rock Climbing, Sailing, Kayaking, Motorcycle riding (touring mainly, but also offroad), Running (finally got a 32:20 4 mi!). Trying Tennis pretty soon too hopefully. Now I just need more time AND more money. My nearest DZ is two hours drive away, so it makes it easier to schedule a 'jumping weekend' and actually do other stuff, since it isn't feasible to spend every evening there Trying to fit in as much as possible during the summer, because once winter hits (northern michigan), not much is going to be happening that isn't indoors. --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  11. Started may? (log book is at home ) last year with my first S/L jump at Kapowsin, WA. Got in 38 jumps before winter set in, and I moved to Northern Michigan. Started up again as soon as the weather behaved, and got my A&B (on the same day ) about a month ago. 62 jumps as of last weekend.. Night jump friday if the weather behaves! (hopes hopes hopes) --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations
  12. I am not going as I spent all my cash on my pre-second rig Maybe I can get one of the local balloon pilots to give me a ride..... 'oh that, thats just my "backpack", uh yeah... So uh, can you get us over that big field over there?' --- 'Damn, I sure wish I would of kept that pretty silver handle' - cutaway ruminations

    Frustration

Hey Fred. Just to let you know, I am too learned S/L, and am currently on jump 31. :) I had even worse issues getting stable then you did for awhile (hard to believe, but possible. ;) ) including kicking, standing up, etc. I was getting frustrated, and nothing anyone told me helped. I too had a great arch on the ground. Do you know what the problem was? RELAXING! Don't get worked up about it (haha), don't freak out when you start doing something wrong. Just relax, take a deep breath, arch, and look at the horizon. I can almost guarantee your stability problems will go away. mine did! AND SMILE DAMNIT! :)
