  1. No more than anyone else on this forum. Are you talking about the ruling, or did "the White House" issue a statement as such? It's naive to assume that judges who the president has no power over in retaining their position, and who have been approved by the senate can be influenced by the office of the president? It's just as naive to think that they actually care what someone who will be out of office during their careers wants. While you may think this is a good example of the ol' "Kerry Flip Flop" syndrome in Bush, I would hardly say that he's got it down as well as the man himself. I wouldn't say he's "just as apt" to change his stance based on this "example". Oh, hello again!
  2. So the supreme court is now GWB's administration? Don't they stay on until they retire? Sometimes I forget that GWB is the omnipresent invisible hand that controls all things that YOU don't like. Oh, hello again!
  3. A lot of people used to think that the New York Times and CNN were impartial. What does that have to do with what they are now? Oh, hello again!
  4. I'm confused, I thought GWB was president, not a supreme court justice. Oh, hello again!
  5. One thing islamic militants are NOT guilty of is having any degree of sanity. If people thing that Bush is crazy for his religious convictions, then those same people should be actively persuing lobotomies for these jack-offs. Either way, if these kidnapping scumbags think that by doing this, they will get publicity and MAYBE even further muddle the efforts of coalition troops, THEY WILL KEEP DOING IT. No question about it. They did not kill Paul Johnson because he worked for Lockheed, they did it to say "Fuck You" and get people wanting us to pull out of the Mid east. How could we prevent any further "jihad" being launched against the West? If enough kidnappers get stomped on... maybe they'll stop. Oh, hello again!
  6. I think that the people dealing with them knew they were not nice people. Sometimes you have to deal with not nice people to get things done. Besides, they never even said "Thank you". The situation is what it is regardless of anyone's position. When did an innocent iraqi die in a us prison? Or do you just think that anyone in prison is innocent. You're right, they should be out on bail until we can try them in the world court... they'll behave and not attack civilians or coalition troops until then, right? Come on. And I'll tell you what, being in a war, conflict, whatever... by definition... is saying that the other guys' lives are worth less than one of our own. Maybe someday we'll fight wars with paintballs, but not yet. Oh, hello again!
  7. Don't even try to give validity to their "reason" for killing someone. In the end, all they want is for Al-Jazeera to get them on the world media, thinking that it illustrates how THEY are winning. They just want attention and are fine with killing an "infidel" to get it. Oh, hello again!
  8. Just curious, but what does that have to do with what we're talking about? Not that that isn't a worth topic, I think it is... but my question was "with all the care that the US troops are taking, where's all the rage and complaints from the US and Muslim world about the arabs killing arabs?" So where did you get THOSE numbers? The only reason I even referenced "iraqbodycount" was because it seems to be where many of the anti-war people get their info. Just doing a little quick and dirty math, it looks like insurgents have more civilian (non-military) blood on their hands. Many times (on that site), whether or not the "civilians" who were killed were really civilians is in dispute (in my opinion anyway). (people in civilian clothes do bad things like you see in the video... all that) I agree that the sooner control is handed over the better, but I also think that it should not be handed over until the Iraqi govt is ready to deal with the terrorists. Otherwise we'll have another Taliban in short order. The other thing I take issue with is that it IS partly the responsibility of the coalition to provide security to the people, but we cannot ignore that the people need to take some of the responsibility for their own security by reporting known militants and passing along intel that will lead to their arrest. And let's not lose the fact that the REAL blame for deaths from militants lies with the scumbag militants themselves. That cannot be overlooked. Oh, hello again!
  9. Alas, the only real solution to the middle east problem is to develop and use alternative fuels on a global scale. That way, they can keep their precious desert and fall further back into the annals of technology and progress. Of course, then we'd see terrorism because the world will have robbed them of their economic rights. *sigh* Oh, hello again!
  10. Yeah, there are tons of mentions of clerics condemning terrorism. They seem to condemn it just as Arafat did... in words only. I think if it was a worldwide outcry from muslim leaders, it'd be more than something you have to google for... you'd see it everywhere, and in the actions of people. If Islam is a religion with a large collective conscience, it needs to become part of the culture that terrorism and 'jihad' are NOT acceptable. Otherwise, their silence is almost as bad as giving their approval. Oh, hello again!
  11. EXACTLY!!! This has been overlooked long enough. If there is a voice of reason, let us hear it. It is time for muslim leaders to make it clear, VERY clear, that this and any form of terrorism is unacceptable. And I don't just mean some 8th page article from some US muslim leader, I'm talking about widespread, international condemnation of these extremist fucktards. If it exists, MAKE IT HEARD ALREADY. Oh, hello again!
  12. Because it would be WRONG if the dumbest people actually felt or were told they were dumb. It's much better to dumb down the rest of the country to make the idiots feel better about themselves. Oh, hello again!
  13. A lot of people really don't seem to understand that we are at war and that people die during wars. You're right, at least it isn't similar to what war used to be, carpet bombing entire cities. People seem to forget that the US is trying to do it better with less casualties among our troops and civilians. As far as the death toll in Iraq, it is somewhere in the 10,000s TOTAL... which includes US troops, Iraqi military, Iraqi Police, Civilians, Insurgents, all that. What IS interesting is that insurgents are killing WAY more civilians and Iraqi police than the US is. Go add it up yourself, http://www.iraqbodycount.net/bodycount.htm is an anti-war site that has some "estimated" numbers based on reports. So, with all the care that the US troops are taking, where's all the rage and complaints from the US and Muslim world about the arabs killing arabs? As far as that video shows, you should not try to get off an RPG shot from the middle of a wide open street. Darwin at work. Did you also note that none of the other people around were being fired upon? Oh, hello again!
  14. My point in quoting the paragraph was to illustrate that even in a critical article, it acknowledged that there were lines of communication between the Iraqi govt and Al Qaeda. Sorry you got turned down for sex, but it looks like it worked out okay for you. Oh, hello again!
  15. From what I've read on the report and various news sites, including the one listed in the first post on this thread... Here's something from the second paragraph: So, the idea had been tossed around about working with OBL before, is it really that hard to believe that he worked with some of OBL associates at some point? Oh, hello again!

Aren't you always telling people to stop using what someone else did in the past to justify what another person is doing today?
  18. I just thought it was strange that the Red Cross doesn't mention things like that, but it is out in the public. So the US made mention of these reports? Not that secretive torture interrogations are good, but if you're gonna do that shit, you better make sure people keep their mouths shut. Sounds like, as Kallend said, there's a lot of CYA going on. Oh, hello again!
  19. So how does anyone know? Not saying it isn't happening, but don't those 2 quotes kinda contradict each other? Oh, hello again!
  20. I haven't read this entire thread, but I've gathered that comments like this one from Quade, on 'Day After Tomorrow' in another thread have come up: I see the same problems with Moore's films. Yeah, most of us know he has an agenda and most of us can figure out that he's deliberately editing and manipulating to make his point more exciting and inflammatory... BUT ... the problem is that irrational people vote too. Movies like this can and probably do sway a few thousand votes based on deliberate bending of truth. I don't like that. Oh, hello again!
  21. no·bil·i·ty ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-bl-t) n. pl. no·bil·i·ties -A class of persons distinguished by high birth or rank and in Great Britain including dukes and duchesses, marquises and marchionesses, earls and countesses, viscounts and viscountesses, and barons and baronesses: “The old English nobility of office made way for the Norman nobility of faith and landed wealth” (Winston S. Churchill). -Noble rank or status: Congress may not grant titles of nobility. -The state or quality of being exalted in character. Oh, hello again!
  22. Does the Red Cross have access to the prisoners in Cuba? I thought I remembered hearing that they did, but I'm not sure. Oh, hello again!
  23. If he had been in the country at the time of the services for the ex-president... I'd like to think, based on his character, that he would attend. Especially if the dead ex-prez was someone like Gorbachev. Anyway, still, like you said before... low class behavior. Oh, hello again!
  24. Why send a VP when the boss is already in the area? And for someone as respected (by many around the world) as Reagan, is it really too much? As far as history goes, who cares? If Bush is in Russia and Putin dies, I'd expect him to go to the services. Period. If the head of Luxembourg dies, and everyone's here in the US, okay, maybe send the VP. Oh, hello again!
  25. Where'd that come from? I would expect a leader from my country to attend the funeral of a former leader if they're already in the country. On a personal level I think it's just a matter of decorum. So where's the hypocrisy in that? Oh, hello again!
