Beautiful men and women on the exterior may be lovely too look at, but ever notice that if they are ugly on the inside how their appearance outwardly isn't so beautiful anymore? Just as someone that has a beautiful spirit also becomes beautiful in one's sight? Interesting eh?

Some say that the desert is ugly, brown, dirty and lifeless. I have found it to be quite the opposite. A journey ensues daily, as I walk a different route before dawn each morning, hoping to learn what the desert has to to say. I find splendor in little things on my path. A gecko scampering, a jack rabbit or road runner, signs of new cactus, shrubs and trees, the desert regenerating itself after decades of over use. There is a quiet that envelops one, a serenity like no other. There is beauty and life in the desert and one doesn't have to look very hard to see it. The key is being open to the lesson. I wondered how it would feel to return to the Pacific Northwest after so many months away. Knowing that this time of year it is rich in color and fragrance. Looking out the window of the aircraft I saw the rivers,green trees along their banks, the mountains still capped with snow, the bustle of a big city as cars made their way to their destination.My senses on overload from the sights, sounds and smells that are unique to this area. My heart is uplifted as I look upward into the blue skies with their white puffy clouds, and I shiver from the difference in temperature. My body feels as though it is winter time, but the crispness of the air is refreshing and invigorating.Tomorrow......tomorrow I will soar above the trees in this beautiful place and I will see at the mountains in all of their glory. It will be good to feel the warmth and comraderie of those that have been with me since the beggining of my journey. I will cherish my time with them, learn from them, and hopefully teach them something in return. It is good to be here, but I miss my desert too. Home is not where you hang your hat, nor a place that they have to let you in when you go ......but where your heart is......

Come on people! Rather than argue semantics, lets all take a moment of silence for our fallen brethren. Furthermore, I would just as soon quit skydiving than lose compassion for my fellow man. My deepest condolences to friends and family.
