  10. Lummy~ You missed a great time at Freedom Jam.....but now I know the real reason you weren't there! JP was there from Flite Suit and I shared with him a story or two that he can blackmail you with JP participated in swoop and freefly contests. Nice guy. Wish you could have been here, but maybe a trek to Eloy in a few weeks? head down huh? Oh baby!
  11. Interesting...... Synchronized Swimming has 10,000 members, and is an Olympic sport. Granted one doesn't see it on tv much either.
  12. Well sheesh! Didn't want to get the red hot fork for advertising but since yuu asked for it so nicelywww.works-words.com
  13. What a cool cat Pat Works is. Imagine a dude with over 2,000 round jumps.....explains why he always lands on his butt. Pat spent 4 days at Oregon Freedom Jam giving lectures on freeflying, jumping on nearly every load, sharing his love and enthusiasm for the sport, being inviting and inclusive. There is much to be said for someone that will jump not only with the best, but those with only a few jumps in their log book. I spent many hours chatting and listening to this "relic" as he prefers to call himself (don't dare call him a dinosaur). I even managed to teach him a thing or two much to my great surprise! We talked about the future of the sport, things he would like to see, things I would like to try. He asked me some thought provoking questions such as......what do you say when? My answers made him chuckle and generally ended up with......"Good point, I'll have to use that!" I gave him some things to use in the future.....he gave me things to use now, it was an equal exchange of sharing and it left me with greater understanding. I asked Pat what was the one thing that irritated him the most about todays jumper and his answer was:'They think cause I'm old I can't fly, and treat me as if I can't fly my slot, explaining to me all that I need to do to get in my place.Truth is, I can fly anything they throw at me but sometimes they just need to see with their own eyes.....something about judging a book by its cover would be fitting."(He chuckles) I left Freedom Jam with Pat on my mind, and a smile in my heart. I know that he understood all that I had to convey. If you have the opportunity to spend time with Pat in the future, if he asks you to jump, or maybe to sit for a chat, take the opportunity to do so. You will be so glad that you did. He is a bright light and a kindred spirit. If you havent read any of his work, PM me for the website. Cheers!
  14. 4:20:0 First time jumping with Pat Weeks- man what a hoot! I even managed to teach him a couple of things......imagine that! Enjoyed the 4 days of seminar with him and hope that I have the opportunity to do it again. First time judging a freefly competition......Freedom Jam rocks! Met Wlie (he's damn funny!) and his Missus, and Grasshopper (girls he's a looker!). Lummy couldn't make it (next time eh Lum?) Never managed to jump with either of them as so many people wanted to either try Freestyle or watch me in the air.....or do hybrids.....needless to say I am tired, but we had a great time. A live band, lots of food and free liquid libation. The new swoop pond is fabulous and the weather was a nice 84F. First 2-way synchronized Freestyle with Musika who has once again found her love of the sport. Man wish you all could have seen it......was really beautiful to watch. First time being invited on a 20-way LMAO!! With a World Champion to boot.....now THATS hysterical!! Had to tell them that I only dust off my RW suit when BillV is in town and I can be the base. I hope that next year, everyone will mark their calendars for the 2nd week-end in August and converge on Oregon for this experience. It was a blast! Will post pics at a later time. Cheers!
  15. Jack thank you for all of your time and efforts. Michelle thank you for your story and your spirit. Thank you ESPN for helping to perpetuate our sport.....if this story brings just 1 additional skydiver to the fold......I would say that was a job well done by all. To me that is what this should be about.

  17. Ramon~ Just so we don't get burnt out, a group of us get together on our day off (Tuesday or Wednesday) and we go out and try something that one of us has never done before. Last week it was golf, this week ice skating. Because we live in a rather isolated area , we plan a dinner once a month,go to the movie.....anything other than be at the DZ and skydiving. One time.....I just drove to San Diego and spent time with a friend and made 2 new ones while there......point is you have to take time out. Cheers
