Do you think the video footage of Irwin's death should be shown?
bbarnhouse replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
I agree with Squeak. -
LOL well it could be worse...you could walk around smelling like jet fuel all the time! Ahhh Ode de jetfuel...yummmy

The raft dive...well there ARE signs in the aircraft limiting the number of people exiting at the same time in the skyvan. If 16 rush the door...you can expect the skyvan to stall. (thanks to those that saw fit to give the pilot a gift. The pilot was the only one tottering as you were teetering the aircraft...well done on that account)

Wowza! In reading the comments of some of the posters on that site...it makes our "Squeakers Corner" look pretty tame

Well, Mike has a severe case of Vestibular Neuritis of unknown etiology. So far he has had a MRI, CAT scan, EEG, EKG's, stress and table tilt test with echocardiogram, ultrasound of his carotid arteries and blood work galore every six hours. The good news is that he not have a stroke or tumor as first thought. He able to stand and walk with help or if he can hold onto something. He said they are very aggressive there and have already started him on physical therapy to retrain his brain to balance. He should be out in about 3-4 days and then continued physical therapy for 3-4 weeks. If all goes well he should get back to normal. The other good thing according to Mike is there is almost never a reoccurrence.

Mike has a very strange virus that is affecting part of his brain. I am sorry I don't know exactly what it is, but I do know that it is rare. His house is being examined looking for causes of the virus. (in otherwords...the medical community isn't certain how it was contracted) He was transferred to a hospital in Miami yesterday. When I spoke with him he sounded tired, but assured me that he is doing ok. I plan to call later in the day and will let you know if there are any updates. B2

LOL well...we are a bit backward out here in Arizona because we don't recognize "daylight savings time". When the time changes elsewhere in the country I have to count on my fingers...are they 2 hours ahead or 3? Are they 1 hour behind or the same? Is it 8 hours or 9 in Europe. Myyyyyyyy word Well I like you too! Need a nap?

LOL An ocassional late night for me is 11:30 PM..and that is rare! Many times I need to be on the flightline in the early hours of the morning (between 2 & 3)which means that I ain't stayin' up...and ya can't make me!! Bwahhhhhhhh I really do enjoy visiting with folks in the evenings, but they and I recognize that I am old and tired (party pooper). I have an entirely new manifest staff and so enjoy spending time with them, but...they drink like vikings and are ever so much younger. I just can't keep up
-
Bwahhhhhhhh I would be falling alseep in my soup! I catch a bit of flack when there are boogies here because I just can't stay up until mid-night. Then again at the end of my day I'm looking at only 6 hours of sleep before it starts all over again. I need 8 hours damnit! LOL

I have always been a morning person. My day generally begins at 0400. I find that it is the best time to work uninterrupted, and a time when what little gray matter I actually have works!

Eloy doesn't have team rooms?
bbarnhouse replied to linestretch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Guys here is just a couple of things for you to think about. First off the meet was bid Mondial style, this means all events run at the same time and on our time frame should complete in 7 days.(yes that's a lot of people) But not so different than when it was held here last. Lake Wales bid theirs similarly and completed in 11 days. Chicago was about the same. Perris bid theirs over 21 days with CF,Style and Accuracy finishing prior to the arrival of RW and AE. Isn't the Nationals suppose to be about ALL the competitors? Isn't it an opportunity to have all the disciplines together? And shouldn't it be as efficient as possible? The bid was granted on the facilities in place at the time of the bid and we have done our best to address everyones requests. If we have fallen short, please know that we have done what we can. I would like to add one more thing. If as competitors you are unhappy with the selection process then its your responsibility to make yourselves heard. I have been at the last 3 BOD meetings and the competition committee had no new business brought forth by the competitors other than the consideration for VRW. I guess what I am trying to say is that if competitors want change then they need to make themselves heard. Contact your RDs and contact your BOD. One can either be pro-active or reactive. I can say this as one who has competed, and who has expressed concerns. My question to competitors is....have you? Your USPA Nationals will be whatever you choose to make it. It can be a great experience or it can be one filled with negativity. It really is up to you. -

bbarnhouse replied to linestretch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am sorry folks but...Eloy has what it has and it really is as simple as that. The bid was awarded in July of last year and teams started booking shortly thereafter, knowing that rooms of all sorts would fill up quickly. I hope all that choose to participate have a successful USPA Nationals. All information regarding team rooms, video rooms etc can be found at www.skydiveaz.com. Kind regards, B edited to add... manifest handles all reservations. Burke is the meet director and Amy Chmelecki is the event coordinator -

bbarnhouse replied to linestretch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We have an equal amount of lodging as Perris. Team rooms have been booked for months. We can not bring in any more due to the city code. There are slots available in the bunkhouse or you can book at the new motel located on the DZ. www.skyriderinn.com -
My word!

Don't you find it sad that people are so dishonest that they need to scam people to make money? Sad...sad...sad.
-
What is it with these people? First thing in the morning someone tries to tell me that the price of toner for our copier is going up and would I like to buy toner since they neglected to inform us? LOL I kindly informed the lady not to call back and shame on her for trying to scam people! That was an easy one. Next...I received a call from the accountant asking me if I had added AOL to my private desk line. I said no. She said...well you need to call this number and find out who added it to your phone. She then explained to me that she was told "for security reasons" the call had to be made from my phone. The accountant was already furious after having called twice and spoken with "Judy".The accountant was so angry that she actually used some fairly choice words while dealing with "Judy"( Hummm not a common name for someone that has an Indian accent.) I asked her what the origional number was...a 900 number.(You've got to be kidding me!) She then gave me an 800 number and I gingerly dialed it and explained to the nice lady the situation. She wanted to know my name and I told her it doesn't matter what MY name is as this is a corporation. She then tells me that for "security reasons" she can not give me the name of the person that opened the account. I fired back with...now wait a minute..both Judys that we spoke with said that if I called from the number on the account, you would give us the information. Again she asks for my name....I again explain the situation and that she doesn't need my name.(can you say playing with your prey?) I said M'am this is not AOL..to which she said Oh yes it is! I said no...no...it can't be, may I speak to your supervisor please? *click* Well in the end our phone carrier was called and removed the charges. Unfortunetly, they said they can't stop the charges and so the accountant will have to call back every 3 months to have them removed. With all these phones...UGH So at the end of the day...look at your phone bills
