What not to do (how the Aggie almost died)
bbarnhouse replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Aggie D... Under your canopy may I suggest raising the limit on your hard deck? Too easy to go from hero to zero in less than 60 seconds. Personally, if it were spinning line twists...thats a high speed mal and I would have chopped it, especially under a highly loaded elliptical canopy. Glad that you are ok. B^2 -
Awe thank you darlin' I think you're pretty awesome too

0:19:0 Yeah a nice weekend here. Made a lot of progress this weekend on the 3rd routine for Nationals..sweet! Landed out the first load this am with Tango but damn I sure didnt take a downwinder like he did. I think he needs glasses or something! Bwhaaa It was fun to watch the expert canopy pilots swooping here this week-end. I admire thier skill, but still doesn't make me want to fly a sub 100 canopy Spent 2 hours this evening teaching some of our newer jumpers packing tips and tricks. We had a lot of fun and when they tried to pay me, I told them that they could do so only by taking time with future newbies and teaching them what they had learned. Cheers everyone! B^2

Red Bull Qualifier~ Eloy Results
bbarnhouse replied to bbarnhouse's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
As an aside to Gordo's...the swoop pond was initiated with it's first dunking today...by our own Neal Houston of Airspeed. Neal looked great as he drug a toe across the pond only to end up face first in the water. Yeah he stalled his canopy whilst wearing one of Freeflite's suits and then slid into the dirt at the far end of the pond. Good thing he was wearing a full face helmet or he would have been eating that dirt....for days! Neal walked away unscathed albeit covered in mud, was good natured about it and took several bows on his way back to the hangar. McGowan took pictures of the aftermath. God love Mike! -
Aggie D did you mean to say...boots and bumpers? bwahhhh jce~ So glad that you and Lynn are alright. Please give her my regards. We had a dust devil pick up one of the swoopers yesterday, glad to say that his injuries included a fractured ankle and lots of skin missing from his backside. Dust devils are nasty and this young man was quite fortunate. Be careful out there.. B^2

I have a place near the San Juan Islands on the Olympic Peninsula. There area is full of eagles and thier nests. The property across the way cannot be devolped, nor any of the trees cut, even though it is privately owned. It is now considered a sanctuary. One day as I was out mowing the lawn a large salmon fell from the sky at my feet! I looked up to see one of these majestic birds flying over head. What a sight....and that has to be the best TRUE fish story ever told... additionally the place is 1 street down from a small airport. The house across the street ended up with a small aircraft lodged in its front room. Two moths prior another small twin engine aircraft crashed into a trailer adjacent to the house....guess its not a safe neighborhood... B~Squared
