My favorite is American Eskimo! They are smart and can be trained easily. They are so fun too! Great dogs if you have a big fenced yard and if socialized properly, they are great with other people and other dogs too! With that being said, I think adopting from a pound or humane society is a great thing to do! It's so sad to see pets not wanted or worse yet mistreated. When you go with a pure breed you know what personality traits you're getting. With a "mutt" you don't know for sure but lots of times it can be a really great dog! Anyway, here's a pics of mine! My husband and I just got back from sailing the Bahamas for 2 weeks in a 38' Morgan. Got a call that night from Kara (who had been pestering us to skydive for over 3 years) asking if we were ready to skydive. Well, I was feeling quite full of myself as a death defying adventurer and all so I said SURE! We did a tandem the next day! AFter that I couldn't get skydiving out of my mind! Skydiving IS dangerous. Your mind and body will always send you warning signals (unless your dead)!! ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNALS, MANAGE THE FEAR AND WORK THROUGH THE PROBLEM. That is what I've learned from my own experience, from talking and jumping with experienced skydivers, from my instructors (who continue to teach me), and from books I've read on fear. Eventually you'll reach the point where all that stuff won't be in the front of your mind, it will be in the back of your mind. And you will be having a blast belly flying, piloting your canopy and landing standing up consistently! Just my 2 cents. Since my A I've been concentrating on spotting and landings and working in some 2 or 4 ways in between. I've been doing A LOT of hop and pops to practice spotting (so important for when you go to boogies) and consistent accurate landings (again important when you go to a different dz). The 2 & 4 ways I jump with the same group of experienced jumpers every time. For me I've decided instead of going immediately into CRW, (which was all I could think of to get me through AFF), I'm better off honing my canopy flying and belly flying skills. Then, when I feel more confident with those, I can move on to bigger and better aspects of skydiving! OMG in highschool I had a '64 Mercury named Ugletta! No joke! It was the ugliest car ever! It was white (kinda) with a black right front fender. You could start this car with ANY KEY and the gas gauge didn't work, so I had to calculate how much gas I had all the time! That car ALWAYS had a flat tire. Well, my story is similar to the ones above. I had to repeat levels due to a WICKED spin. I went to Eloy to the wind tunnel and it helped tremendously. But eventhough I felt better about my turns, I was still very nervous and just couldn't relax. I would get so sick to my stomach at times I thought I was gonna throw up for sure! I would do the breathing thing and all the things suggested for me to do. It's funny now, but at the time I was just miserable! What kept me going, the one thing I had, and I hope you do too, is a GOAL. My goal was to fly my canopy and to do that I had to relax and get through AFF! So, in addition to the breathing, what I tried was to just STOP THINKING about all the stuff I had to do on the jump! Believe it or not, every once in a while, it's good not to think so much!
