  1. This may not be the right place for this question, but it seemed as good as any: Will there be a place at the WFFC I'll be able to buy a helmet? Something along the lines of a Bonehead Mindwarp?
  2. I was static-line trained and am grateful for the lack of irrational fear at lower altitudes(3,00).
  3. Thanks so much. I would much rather the bracket be mounted by someone more experienced.
  4. Not a bad plan. Well that saves me $50. Lets see that's...just over 2 jump tickets. Sounds good, thanks for the warning\tip\advice.
  5. Okay I'm really unsure where to put this thread so I just threw it in General: I'm attending the World FreeFall Convention for the first time this year(lots of beer), and I had planned on buying a helmet to replace the borrowed frap hat I've been using. Probably a Bonehead Mindwarp or something similar. I had also considered purchasing an L-Bracket camera mount for my nifty new headgear. I own a Sony PC110, so the fit, availability of helmet\bracket, and prices are no problem. I'm wondering if there will (in any probability) be someone there with the capability and (perhaps) expertise to mount the bracket to the helmet. Also, for those with a similar setup, is the bracket removable after being mounted? From what I can tell it's essentially bolted on with standard bolts and nuts. In which case a simple turn of a wrench would get it off. I'm not sure what type of minute adjusting goes on with the mounting though, or if it's just holes drilled in the right places. Thanks guys! See ya'll there.
  6. Hello back. I'm gonna miss you at Rantoul, Uncle C. Hope the move(?) goes well!
  7. I don't know a whole lot but if they start that way you could either: A) Enter a discussion about behavioral interviewing and your views on it, or: B) Answer the question, and follow with, "Or I could just be telling you that. Wouldn't a more productive question be appropriate?" Not exactly subtle....
  8. All my jumps are on a Cessna 182(whoo boy that's saying something isn't it? 17 is such a lot). Did they not give a cut when you jumped? All my exits have had an engine cut and, being a student, my exit form was hanging off of the strut and letting go. Were you trying to put your foot on the strut() or on the step? I have a feeling I won't get to a bigger plane until Rantoul, but I don't mind a bit.
  9. Mine's nice and worn in. Grandpa(DZO) got it for me a few years ago at Rantoul. Before I jumped. Then I wore it because I knew what it was. Now I wear it because I use one.
  10. I heart Cirque. I've only seen Dralion live and it was amazing, but I saw Alegria on Bravo and loved it so much I bought the soundtrack. Beautiful.
  11. Happy Birthday Uncle Chuck! I must say you da man. Birthday lovin' attached.
  12. Way wrong. Those scenes were filmed in Tunisia.
  13. I had my first reserve ride on jump number 5. So that was fun. My main had baglock because of an unstable clear-and-pull; so I cut it, pulled silver, and I'm under white in no time. I have no worries trusting a reserve. I never really doubted it, but now I'm sure it opens. Remember, the parachute wants to open.
  14. I have said before that my four hour round trip to and from the dropzone is more dangerous than actually skydiving. . Why, are you stoned or drunk when you make the trip? No, just tired both ways. I guess I just feel pretty safe when I'm skydiving. Even when I had my malfunction I felt like I knew what I had to do and I did it. It's all a state of mind I suppose. I'm not looking forward to an eye opening near death experiance while skydiving.
  15. I have said before that my four hour round trip to and from the dropzone is more dangerous than actually skydiving. I suppose it's really a matter of perception, it could be said you have the same amount of control in both situations, in the car or in the rig. I dunno, the topic statement has merit, but again it's a matter of perception. I'm still a student so I haven't experianced near the amount of things that I will experiance in the future. Although I believe I have experianced a couple of the worse(bag-lock, reserve ride). Jumping out of a plane with nylon to catch you is suicidal to some, but to us it's sport.
  16. Merci, I suppose my searches were a tad too specific.
  17. It's known as "only seven jumps." I assume you mean "SONY = GOD YOU STUPID GEEK"
  18. Do people actually jump this camera? Sure Sony might be great generally but there's always an exception. ..Does anyone jump any of these cameras?
  19. I'm sure you guys hear this constantly, however I looked around a bit but saw little to help. I'm looking to buy a small 300-400ish dollar camera to tide me over for a bit, and also double as a future jump camera. I've got nowhere near the experience to video, but hopefully this camera can eventually be used for such a thing. I'm looking at the: Sony DCR-HC32 --- Looks like it has nice size. What about picture quality? Panasonic PV-GS65 --- 3CCD...Niiiice. Perhaps too large of a camera though? Panasonic PV-GS35 --- I guess this is the 1CCD version of the GS65....but uh...perhaps still too large? Canon ZR200 --- Size a problem? Picture quality? Battery life is lower than the Panasonics but I can buy more batteries if needed, I suppose. I really don't wanna spend more than $500 on any of these, so...reviews and comments?
