The story is on the front page of DZ.com. www.dropzone.com Also, don't be lazy. First google result: www.atairaerospace.com

Daniel that couch at the DZ is going to get mighty lonely.

I'm no pro but what helped me was leaning back with my whole torso. At first I felt like I was leaning back way too far but video showed me that I was straight up-and-down.

That's absolutely perfect! I don't know why I didn't find that before. Thanks so much!

I just got a used Neptune for Christmas and I was wondering if there was an online manual or PDF that I could look at? I did a brief search (forums and internet) and all I found was a broken link to an online manual. Anything for a Neptune or a Wave would be much appreciated!

I'm sure this has been asked before but: If the metal D-ring is that much better, why do we use pillows for our cutaway handle? Especially considering that you usually hear about "hard pulls" on the cutaway (due to extreme linetwists and such), not on the reserve pull. (This is not a charged question, just pure curiosity. I personally use a metal handle for my reserve ripcord.)

"Skydive terror" - TV reporter tumbles on AFF
Suavel replied to DannHuff's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He was probably supposed to rotate and present his belly to the relative wind. -
I think I remember reading or hearing somewhere that there's a jump club at Georgia Tech. I'm a Freshman at Emory University and it seems that I'm the only skydiver here. I don't have a car at school, but I have my rig with me and my logbook\jumpsuit\helmet\etc. I was curious if I am remembering correctly about you guys. If you do exist, do you jump at the Farm or do you use a different DZ?

Young skydiver meets old rig
Suavel replied to FireMedicJumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had no idea that you were supposed to do that, but now I'll know for next time! As to pre-training: I was given a short (but thorough) briefing on the capewells and reserve. I pulled the capewells a few times to get used to the motions involved, and was reassured that the reserve did indeed have a spring loaded pilot chute. -
What jump number was your first cutaway?

Jump #6. Bag lock due to a poor exit on my first Hop N Pop. -
She was just a few months ago in Birmingham, Alabama on tour with some musical, I think it was called Sweet Charity.

Yeah the altimeter and the shoes were the only things I didn't have old-school replacements of. Fortunately I was able to find an old frap hat, jumpsuit, and goofy goggles! This was definately a great jump! I'm very glad that PC was there and that they let me jump it! -
Sorry for my inexperience but: What is a Tertiary?

The trailer was for a movie called Cloverfield. Quick google search turned up: http://movies.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1327382.php/Paramount_takes_wraps_off_Cloverfield

RW questions - forward movement, fall speed, etc
Suavel replied to chrismgtis's topic in Relative Work
The "flat track" he keeps talking about is just moving forward. Easiest way (for me): stick out your legs. -

I'm not an experienced canopy pilot, but I think: When you began your flare you felt yourself plane out and then finished the flare as per usual. Because of the lack of wind, you were moving faster than usual and you probably didn't wait long enough before beginning the second half of your flare, therefore that extra speed turned into more lift than usual. Rephrased: Usually on a day with wind, you begin your flare, plane out, then finish the flare and touch down. You were moving faster so you probably should have stayed at the "plane out" stage for a longer period of time, killing speed, then finished your flare. There's probably a couple of ways of saying all that with fewer words.

Thanks :) I'll be there tomorrow morning!

Okay just so I have my duck(farts?) in a row: The boogie is at Bud Baron Field, address 675 Airport Rd. What are registration and lift ticket prices?

I'm definitely planning on attending but my funds would need to be supplemented by on-site packing. When attending an event, how is this usually solicited? I can get a letter of recommendation or something if need be.

question on getting into flying with a camera
Suavel replied to woodpecker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I thought it was because camera mounts have a bad habit of getting in the way of other important things. Like risers and pilot chute bridles. -
Buy a Zombie Survival Guide. No joke, it's a must have.

"The Shadow Knows" - picture in Skydiving, January 2007
Suavel replied to cpoxon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The "middle of the plane" effect could be achieved by a slight zoom on the photographer's (pilot's) end. -
AFF students are told to pull their parachute immediately in the event that they find themselves alone. That's sort of the source of the whole original thread and argument and apology. Edit: I'm just glad I was Static Line!
