  1. And no Red Bull logo to be seen anywhere!!
  2. No surprises there. I live in one of the reddest states on the map. This place is swarming with fat people and getting worse all the time.
  3. It's not meant in the context of spoiling them. It's meant as placing their needs in front of yours. Grooming them to be the next and a better generation. Educating them. Exactly, and it works well.
  4. http://youtu.be/lyXzy8AzOxo Franklin did it 15-20 years ago. Is saw him fly that thing at an airshow in Arkansas. He went from the ground, straight up to about 10,000 feet. If my memory serves me, his kid was strapped on the top wing. That was one of the craziest things I've ever seen.
  5. That is absolutely right. 13-14 hours might be better.
  6. www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/j/joelouis163459.html "By my troth, I care not. A man can die but once. We owe God a death."
  7. I told her she would have to get used to drinking German beer, but she does not seem to want to acquire a taste for it. I'll keep working on that.
  8. I'll make sure she looks into your Brother's farm. Thanks. OK, I'm sold!!
  9. A change like that, albeit temporary, would do her good.
  10. Thanks. Would you send your 19 year old daughter there by herself? What's the best way to check out the host family? I think this would be a great experience for her. Just being careful.
  11. For a good look inside NK, read The Orphan Master's Son. It's fiction, but based on years of research.
  12. This may be a long shot, but it can't hurt to ask. Here's what it is: WWOOF… is a registered charity that holds a list of organic farms, gardens and smallholdings, all offering food and accommodation in exchange for practical help on their land. One of my daughters is considering doing this this summer in order to get some work experience and become more proficient speaking German. Anyone know anything about it?
  13. That was a good interview. (that had nothing to do with Obama)
  14. I have been diagnosed with ocular hypertension. I go back in 2 weeks for additional testing to see if yesterday's readings were an anomaly. Is there a way to control this through changes in behavior or diet as opposed to the standard treatment of eye drops? Most of the searching I've done says no, but I have read a few articles that say caffeine and alcohol can contribute to the problem.
  15. If the girl actually had been abducted, this person would have been a hero instead of the object of derision. Why is that so hard to see? If this mom ever has her child abducted and they stick the news cameras in her face do you think she will plead for sensitivity to the wide range of family dynamics in the search for her daughter? Will she have tears running down her face while she begs that the people that search for her daughter not offend anyone? I doubt it too. Being offended seems like it has become the highest sacrament in some bizarre narcissistic religion.
  16. I see it and hear it all the time. Examples: "If Tesla builds a battery powered pickup truck, it is sure to, well, electrify the industry." "The airline industry's newest player is poised to, well, take off." "Fixing the Obamacare website is not expected to, well, heal any divisions within Washington." And so on, and so on.... Am I the only one that is tired of this, well, tiresome rhetorical device?
  17. the oil companies dont own the local gas stations. thats a franchise branding thing. gas stations buy gas from gas refiners at the wholesale market. they then sell the gas as cheap as they can to get you to come into their little stores and hope you buy a Redbull or Slimjim at a nice mark up. Gas stations make very little money on gas and there is one on every corner. competition is very tough and i would guess there is no room for you .20 low ball offer. obviously they would do it if there was room. Where i live gas stations are owned and run by recent immigrants. i really doubt they are getting rich ripping you off. if they where, you would see a lot more middle age white guys pumping gas. What he said. Where I live, all gas stations of all brands buy their gas from the same supplier, who is not connected to any of the "major" oil companies.
  18. I would take that over Hawaii any day.
  19. I thought I was in Speakers Corner. I'll lighten up.
  20. Movies are not real. Oprah is not quite real and the audiences are instructed how to react. People raise their voices in restaurants because it is noisy and they have to do it to be heard. That makes it more noisy. Were you looking for some validation that America is a hell-hole of cultural depravity?
