  5. true dat!!! just don't pee in the streets after a night out of drinking. as freeflir said, you'd get BEATEN!!! or more appropriately: CANED!
  6. exactly! i never go there just to go there. i'm usually already in the area. and i've been there quite a bit, too (yearly since i was in gradeschool). but that's because i have family that lives less than 2 hours by plane away. so when i'm in the area, it's either hongkong, singapore, malaysia, or thailand. personally, i like singapore better (cleaner and people are not as rude).
  7. it's missing one slot... the one on the crotch!
  8. have you been to new york city? it's just like that but with a lot more asian people. and a lot cheaper, too. oh, and not to mention a lot warmer. when are you planning on going? i'll be there dec27-jan2.
  9. to put any dvds on your ipod, you'll need to convert them first to an .mp4 format. to do that, you'll need Handbrake (it's a free download). once converted, you can add your movies to iTunes then synch your iPod. Handbrake is the coolest thing. let me know if you need help in ripping your dvds using Handbrake.
  10. my dz is very good at looking out especially keeping an eye out on newbies and students. still, i always tell a friend to start looking for me if the plane comes back and i'm still not on the ground. just in case.
  11. wow, big, cute baby! congratulations to the new parents (2nd time around!)
  12. brrrrr, looks cold. are those kelp? just looking at your wetsuit makes me unable to equalize... my last dive: cancun in august. nothing fantastic. lots of sand. not enough corals. but water temp at 75feet is 82degreesF. didn't need a wetsuit.
  13. if AndyMan's coverage is a group coverage through his employer, then all pre-existing conditions are covered. (check with the insurance company.) if i were you, i will get COBRA coverage for that 5 days you are uninsured. just to be safe. although in some states, like mine, you can get free health care if needed. however, you will have to go to a public hospital and wait (minimum 6-8 hours is common) just to be seen by a healthcare practitioner.
  14. i grew up in asia. it was an everyday thing for the media (both print and tv) to show dead bodies. our 7pm news is not complete without showing beheaded terrorists, dead and bloody drug dealers, dead kidnappers riddled with bullet holes, and murdered people bludgeoned to death. and that's only during the first 5 minutes! is it gross and sick -- heck, yes -- for the average foreigner. but not for us. it's our way of life. in the late 70s (i was in preschool), they showed a drug dealer get executed on live tv. it was broadcast nationwide. during school hours so all the school children could watch. made children (and adults) realize what could happen if you dealt drugs. parents have used these graphic images as examples to their kids and we heard it all the time: " do something bad and you'll end up just like the bad dead guys they show on tv!" ***** i feel so sad for the little boy. he could've been a president, or a doctor, or an inventor, or the greatest ...
  15. and to think there are no dropzones in Qatar! the nearest DZ is in Dubai (UAE).
  16. Hey, Bill!!! Happy, happy birthday! When are you gonna come down my way? p.s. did RC get the package yet?
  17. Well... I found this on the Sabre-Holdings site: "Sabre Holdings is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol TSG" American may own a lot of shares, but it is a publically traded company. yes, American Air owns more than half of Sabre. Sabre is the back-end of Travelocity (and American). all are publicly traded.
  18. and Sabre is owned by American Airlines
  19. i'm a Rescue scuba diver with hundreds of dives yet i'm also soooo scared of the ocean. in fact, i hyperventilate just before getting into the water. then i become okay once i'm down there. but even as a newbie skydiver, i have found out that i have better skydiving skills than scuba skills. or maybe i just feel more comfortable in altitude than in depth.
  20. that's great! ok, people, we need to raise more for Nenad. keep the funds coming!!!
  21. my instructor told me to do belly flying for at least 100 jumps before venturing to other disciplines. he said it'll make me an excellent jumper.

  23. sorry to hear about your computer... i used to be an airline employee and no airline ever covers losses/damages to electronics. the only thing they will cover is damage to your suitcase. unless they can prove that TSA damaged it and not their baggage handlers. and since you've already told them about TSA doing the damage, i'd be surprised if American will compensate you for the suitcase at all. side story: i used to know a bunch of baggage handlers who used to pee on bags of passengers who gave airline agents a hard time. this is what we'll do -- we usually call down to baggage and give them the bag tracking number. then it's up to them to do their "magic" to the bags. because of that, i put all my underwear in ziploc bags just to be safe. i also put all my other other stuff in plastic bags: shirts in one bag, bottoms in another bag. another side story: i was checking-in a drunk guy who was verbally abusive. so instead of sending his bags to San Jose, California, i sent his bags to San Jose, Costa Rica!!! took over a week for him to finally get his stuff.
