  1. I have a life insurance policy I took out 20 years ago. I have been jumping for 2 years. Do I need to notify my insurance company about the change?
  2. Hello Chris, I know that Scott Miller's course is great (I took the basic twice and intend to take it again). The first time I took it (50 jumps) I think I understood about 1/4 of what he was telling me but with practice I felt better about being able to land were I wanted to. That was my goal. The second time I took it (100 jumps)I realized that I understood a great deal more and it really built up my confidence. Being able to pilot your gear with confidence and in a well recognized pattern will help you and others stay safe. At Skydive Carolina you have a lot of folks with great skills who would be willing to jump with you one on one. I know this because they are willing to jump with me. Do not miss the opportunity to learn flying your body with others (fall rate, side sliding, forward docks, backward docks) It is great fun and helps build your body awareness. Your instructors stayed with you, now it is time for your to learn to stay with them. Plan to open early and practice your skills at setting up for your pattern. Ask the guys from PD to do air to air with you. It is a great learning tool and they love to do it.
  3. We decided to jump at Raeford because a friend had won a tandem jump as a prize. We all went to watch and by the time she was done several of us had signed up and two of us did two that day. I was like it was contagious. We all had to get into the act. It helped that the people there were great.
  4. congrats!!! Welcome to the fun

    Your Ideal Job

Rabbit Slayer! What the hell is a Rabbit Slayer? Do I make them laugh real hard or do I have to kill little warm fuzzies?
  6. I was at DeLand and had a member of the Norway 4 way team between my legs. Between the vibration from the air van and him practicing his moves, I had to ask his name before he left the plane. It was the best ride to altitude I ever had.
  7. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have had a really bad week and I needed to laugh. You make me laugh loud and long. Thank you again.
  8. What a great way to start a new year. She is beautiful. May she be blessed with joy and happiness.
  9. Thank you for your post. I feel that I have learned a great deal from it. I wish more people would take the time to explain what is happening and what is going wrong as well as what could have been done to correct it. It is a great learning tool and I hope you and others offer more.
  10. Great job on saving yourself. I know how you feel about the radio. It is hard enough to understand what they are saying on it without the confusion of who they are talking to. During my AFF there was me, Jojo and a guy Joe. The instructor finally started saying GIRL and MAN for identification.
  11. I am glad to see that you did your homework. Did you go to the company and ask for a tour? I am sure that they would not be as gracious as you are to explain the planning and testing of their products. I wish you well and rapid recovery.
  12. Just think. With one jump you made two of her wishes come true. To jump from a plane and to have a pink parachute. This sounds like the work of a good friend.
  13. Good for You. Sorry I missed it. Welcome to the fun.
  14. I was sent home for wearing slacks to school. We were only allowed to wear dresses. It was a "dress suit" and I offered to take of the slacks and wear the "dress" top but they had no humor. Twice for skipping school. Once for punching a guy in the face. (He was teasing a friend of mine. She was handicapped and he thought it was funny. I got to hit him and got to watch him explain to the principle that a girl hit the big bad football player). Once for walking out of a class in protest. The funny part is that I was considered the quite girl in the group.
  15. Welcome to the world of high speed good times. It only gets better from here.
  16. I took the class as an elective. It was great. I did have to pay for my personal equipment (mask, snorkle and fins). It was a great time and a good learning experience. I say go for it.
  17. Congratulations and welcome to the party. The fun has just begun.
  18. Welcome. It is a wonderful thing to complete a mission. I am glad that your friends decided to join you. It is alway more fun to have someone to share with. You will find that you now "need" to look up and check for clouds. It is OK. We all do it.
  19. Good for you. It is nice to know that responsible people are raising children these days. I think you choice is commendable. You should never force yourself beyond your personal safety limits. I for one do not jump if there are clouds in the area. I know my limits and my comforts. You have shown that you know yours as well. Good for you.

    Veterans

I am proud that I served and I still tear up at the Star Spangled Banner. The people I served with were so wonderful and professional that it made it hard to work in the private sector. When people say bad things about this country I just remind them that people are fighting and dying every day to give them that right and they should cherish that and be thankful.
  21. I think an optional review course around jump 15 - 20 would be great. When I took my first jump course, I left feeling more confused than anything else. Yes, I listened and watched the videos but that is not how I learn. I probably would have been able to take a quiz by repeating what was told to me but that does not mean that I know what I was talking about. I had no problems with the jumps but that is body awareness and control not knowledge taught during the FJC I have taken Scott Millers basic canopy course twice. e first time I took it (
  22. I suffer from social phobia. It is the same for me when I go someplace were I don't know people. I have found that telling the people at manifest is the easiest way to get someone to jump with. I also found that once I stated my couch jumps, my couch would introduce me to people that were the same level or a little better to jump with. It is not easy for people who are not socially forward to feel comfortable when going someplace alone. You should try to hang around after your jumps and talk with the people at the DZ. They are usually open to being social after the business of jumping is done. It is not always easy but lessons you will learn listening to the stories being told makes it all worth it.
  23. I am childless by choose. I made this decision at the age of 18 and never looked back. I was never a girl to play with dolls. I played baseball. I never wanted children. I tried to get my tubes tied when I was 18 and again when I was 21. I was told that I have to have permission from my husband to get the procedure done, my now ex would not sign the papers. I wish you well in your journey through the medical grid mill. Some of the reasons I gave for the procedure were pulled from my family health history. I was able to show that all my family (both sides) has a poor health history (cancer, diabetic, heart disease)and almost all of it is passed on.
  24. good for you! Welcome to the fun of bumping into others in the air and calling it RW.
