Can you get a reference from his DZO ?
-
Yea it's "cool" but that's not why I do it, I find it good stress relief, nothing better after a sh!t day at work than to go to the DZ for a couple. Also the poeple involved and who I have become friends with. It beats kicking\passing\throwing\hitting a ball around on grass any day !!
-
it was quartered, just not pulled as far through the nose (if that makes sense), I didn't roll the nose, just tucked it. Tail not rolled that much, maybe 4-5 turns just to keep all in place.
-
Not my Tri they aren't !! Must be a good 1000ft if packed with slider fully quartered. I'll give the mesh a miss thanks, it's put me off BASE for life that opening!!

Bit of background info. I have 41 jumps, 15 of these on my own canopy which is a Tri 190 DOM 12/2005, canopy was bought new and I'm loading it 1:1. I have my BPA packing certificate, and I am pretty confident in my packing ability. I've been finding that the Tri snivels a bit too much for me, so I have been changing slight things in my pack job to speed the opening. Rolling the nose or the tail makes no difference. It only seems to respond to slider positioning and quartering. Anyway, I went to Langar this weekend, first time I've been, nice DZ ! First jump, opening fine, and getting quicker, then the 2nd jump of the day came. Simple solo flat jump, nothing different, body position felt fine, no wobbles and I wasn't even slightly head down. WHACK !! ....................... Felt something go "POP" in my left rib cage (which is hopefully just a bruised rib), then major pain in my thighs where I had been "FORCED" further down into the harness (See pic for bruise on inner thigh !!). Took me 5-10 seconds to get my head working again, landed fine with no issues. Now, on my pack jobs I have not been rolling the nose, and I quarter the slider through the nose. To try and make the opening quicker, I have gradually on each jump not been pulling the slider as far through the nose. This is the only thing I changed on this particular pack job, and even on this one it's not as if the slider was just "stuffed" in the middle. I know it's difficult to comment, but do you reckon it was a pack problem or just a "it happens ocasionally" problem. Cheers Chris

What a beautiful DZ! Coming from a DZ where we have alot of brown land it's sure nice to see all that wonderful green! Almost hurts my eyes! ltdiver True, I suppose I forget how nice it is actually, but there is a reason why it's nice and green !! Lots of Rain !! Chris -

This is Black Knights Parachute Centre, http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/177.shtml A fantastic DZ in the UK, with a nice quick porter. -
Do your AFF, and then talk to your instructors about buying a rig. They are the only ones who can advise as they will know your canopy handling skills etc etc. Chris

I agree, but what we don't hear about are the "non-incidents" that have been avoided because someone has read about a previous incident and then changed their way of thinking and learnt from someone elses mistakes. If they are talked about and 1 person lives because of it, surely it's a good thing right? Chris

DOH Good point, my bad - it's friday. So could it be attached backwards?
-
This may sound stupid, but you were flying forwards? Was there a strong wind? Just sounds like maybe packed with a stepthrough and the front was actually the back, and you were looking at the steering lines and the cascades? As previously said, I would doubt a canopy with "loose" A lines is steerable and landable. Chris

I like it, it's really good. What editing\authoring packages did you use ? Chris

I was at hib when they were filming this, quite surprising what they do to "make-up" the scene, bring there own police tape, I wondered what the hell had happened when I arrived. If you see feet walking onto the bus, mine are the dirty trainers !! But too right, damn shame they are putting F&F through this again. Why do we rarely see good stories\documentaries promoting the sport? Chris
-
At least that clears it up, bit confusing having USPA\BPA\International licenses !! Anyway, it's always good to learn something new in this sport. Cheers Chris
-
Actually it isn't. From the BPA Ops Manual (Sect 2): 2.1. FAI ‘A’ CERTIFICATE: Category 8 and at least ‘CH-Grade 1’. There is not mention of jump numbers. But it is impossible to pass AFF (incl consols) in less than 18 jumps AFAIK. Ah right, must have something mixed up then as this BPA FAI application form mentions 25 freefall jumps for FAI A. http://www.bpa.org.uk/forms/docs/Form%20226%20-%20FAI%20International%20Cert%20Application.doc Chris
-
I trained with the FFU last year and they were perfect, and always told me it was 25 + CH1. There is also Skydive Spain in Seville, not sure if Empuriabrava is english run or not, but heard good reports.
-
How can you apply for your A license when you only have 10 jumps ? You can't have even completed AFF and CH1 in 10 jumps !! The FAI A license (through BPA), is a min of 25 jumps, CAT8 and CH1. Chris

Now does this look like fun or what.

Seems like a reasonable idea in theory but.......... How would the cypress be setup (i.e. what speeds would it auto cut-away at?), how about a slow malfunction? What then happens on a HP canopy in a FR dive or similar? The loops connecting the riser to the cutaway cables is very small no-where near big enough for a cypress cutter. AAD's are built for high speed, no deployment scenarios, if the main isn't deployed there is then no need to cut it away. And on a big personal note, i think there is no need to add complexity. It's just another thing that can go wrong\interfere. Chris

You tried Ebay ? Long shot I know but maybe worth a look.
-
The one with the cutaway pad that's just floating around ?!?!?!
-
It's not "slang" is terminology, and this may help. There is a very similar page on DZ but can't find it. http://www.kturby.com/skydive/terms.htm Topper

No, how much different would the loading be ?
-
At 11stone a 210 would give you wing loading of 0.73 this is even below the UK student ratio recomendations. Obviously speak with your Instructors first but I would say give it a miss, you will get bored with the canopy very quickly. Look for some thing in the 170 range, which will give you a reasonable WL (0.9) but will also be much easier to sell on when you want to. I'm sure I've seen that deal around for a while now so looks like he's having problems selling it, which would also become your problem when you come to sell. topper
