No kidding! Never thought it could happen...it did! "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

I have 2 Nitro 108s and they have both just "Started" to do this. I thought maybe the line sets were getting old, but I just replaced one of them 20 jumps ago and it is still doing it. I have to think that it has something to do with the tightness of my chest strap as that is the only thing that changed around the time it started to get stuck (mine stops at about the halfway point). After finding myself on my head with my rig around my elbows, I have started tightening my chest strap as tight as I possible can. I think I am going to begin experimenting with leaving it looser on belly jumps and seeing if it still happens. "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. Unlike my husband, I like to jump a nice square Spectre with a wingsuit...prevents me from having to chop borrowed gear! :-) "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

Voodoo is bringing his wingsuit as well!! Maybe I'll bring mine....just means I have to bring another canopy too. "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

+3 I prefer an open face, but sometimes, I have to wear a full face and the Mamba is the best! "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

See you there! No, the "kids" will be staying at home this time. You should see how big he has gotten though!! "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

We've got a Taft contingent slowly coming together. I've got 7 confirmed...maybe 11...... Can't wait! "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

I have a W5 that I normally have a Nitro 108 in. I recently got a Spectre 135 to wongsuit with and it is a tight fit in the W7....doable, but very tight (way tighter than the Nitro 107)..... ________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. I have been demoing a 150 Pulse and the thing is absolutely amazing! I tried several ways to pack it funky and it opened on heading every single time. For those who have enjoyed the sweet consistent openings of the Spectre, you can now have those same openings with a 9 cell canopy that actually flies really nice as well! This is the ultimate wingsuit canopy! "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. Freefly scene at Skydive Taft?
nicolesheridan replied to surfbum5412's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Taft is probably more than 50% freeflyers. The majority of students that we put through AFF end up becoming freeflyers. One of our best is Jeff who won the Freefly Money Meet in Eloy last year. Skydive San Joaquin is about 20 minutes from Taft, but they only fly loads when they have enough people. When you stop on by for the first time, ask for Mel. I'll do your first jump there with you! _________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 12th at Westside Believers Fellowship in Taft, CA. It will be immediately followed by an ash dive. If you have any photos of Scotty we could use for the service, please email them to xaos_camera@yahoo.com. "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. Skydive Taft is devastated by the loss of Scotty Stonebraker. Scotty passed away late Monday night . We know that Scotty had friends all over the country at DZs he worked for and jumped at (especially in California and Hawaii). We are having a memorial service / ash dive for Scotty. If you would like information about attending or if you have any footage of Scotty that we could edit into a memorial video, please PM me. anybody live or know anything about Lancaster Cali?
nicolesheridan replied to chiquita24's topic in The Bonfire
We have a group of jumpers from Lancaster who jump at Taft (about 30 of them...called the Tumbleweeds....seriously)). It is about an hour and a half from Lancaster to the DZ. Yes, you'd be living in the desert, but we have year round jumping in southern CA! _________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. I did an intentional cutaway two weeks ago with a square tertiary chest mount reserve (both reserves were PD 143s). I did it to demo the Skyhook system and the rig was a Vector 3. The regular reserve was on mini risers with a 3 ring cutaway and the 2nd was a chest mount. You could probably get in touch with Vector and see if they would make you one. ________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. Taft Luau / Coral's 29th Birthday -- 12 July 2008
nicolesheridan replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in Events & Places to Jump
If this year is anything like last year, we are all in trouble! Something about a bunch of drunk skydivers passing out on the lawn around 5 AM, girls in coconut bras and bikinis (oh yeah, and our rigger too...he has the prettiest coconut bra of them all), Voodoo emceeing, JSkizz bartending.......... This weekend is going to rock! Can't wait. I was also thinking that since this will probably be the weekend that we have the most female jumpers out at Taft....anyone interested in putting together a chicks only jump?????? _________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. I flew my new 27 cell 88 Xaos this weekend and I absolutely fu#$@!g love it. Hands down the best canopy ever built in all aspects. I love the rear riser response on it, so easy to plane out. The toggle flare is outstanding and the openings are the ultimate wet dream smooth and on heading every single time. I did several straight in approaches and landed perfectly with tons of flare. The difference between flying it in half brakes and full flight is amazing. In half brakes or on my rears, I get a great glide and in full flight it takes me into super sonic. I love it. SO WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!! Alex Torre Skydive Taft

One of my canopies can take 1000 feet to open so I always repeated to myself before every jump, "below 2000 - go to reserve" I have an AAD. That may have saved my life as I found myself at around 1300 and went straight to my reserve...AAD still fired, but I beat it. Had I gone to my main, I would have ended up with two out trying to land in a pretty tricky area. Walking back into the hanger with my main still in my container prompted quite a bit of discussion and I was shocked at the number of experienced jumpers who asked why I went to my reserve and stated that they wouldn't have even thought of that. Note: I now fly with 2 audibles and a wrist mount visual as well as a mudflap mount visual...overkill maybe, but the ground looked REALLY BIG that low... Looks like I might have to do this as I can't even access any of the sites for other AV software.....just get "this Page Cannot Be Displayed" or 404 errors. Can I down;oad anything on another machine and then run it on the one I'm having probs with? "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

I ran both Ad Aware and BPS Spyware Sweeper while all this was going on and they didn't find anything. I cant even go to the housecall site....IE won't let me and I can't even open Firefox right now. Any other suggestions? "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But, the self is not something that one finds. It is something that one creates"- Thomas Szasz

OK, so I will try to make this short. I am running XP Home on the machine in question. I installed SP3 and thought I was one of the lucky ones at first...no problems. Then I started noticing that when I used a search engine (didn't matter which one), I was getting results that took me to portal sites instead of where they should have been taking me...even happened when searching for DZ.com and my own site. I thought I might have gotten some sort of virus. Did a full system scan, cleaned up discs, defragged, etc., etc. Then when I went to run Live Update fro Virus defs, Norton said it couldn't connect. That was 2 days ago. Today, weh I went to turn on this machine I got a blue screen c0000139 entry point not found. I could not start up in safe mode and couldn't even get into the recovery console at first. After numerous tries, I finally got into the recovery console and ran a repair install on XP. Rhis took me back to XP SP1 and IE6. I thought that everything would be OK. NOT! Whenever I search for anything using google, MS search, ask.com or yahoo, I am not taken to the actual result, but rather an ad, portal, or just get a 404 error. I am running 4 other machines through the same router with none of this so it is not on that end. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am getting ready to run over this tower with my car just to make myself feel better. _________________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. a year today Dave Gilchrist
nicolesheridan replied to SkyjunkySean's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
Sean, don't be in too much of a hurry to join him though...he'll understand. You got a second chance that he didn't...take full advantage of it! RIP Gilchrist "The Machine" It seems like just yesterday that you were eating hot peppers like they were going out of style and giving Voodoo "the look" for trying to wet willie you on the plane. I'll never forget the first time I saw you smile on a skydive! _______________________________________________ "People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself.
