  1. I would definately consult your doctor and hopefully. The adrenaline created during the anticipation of a jump and right before you pitch are very strenuous on your heart. If you were a pilot or a military parachutist, you probably wouldnt be allowed to fly or jump, respectively.
  2. As long as they arent DZOs or part of the DZ staff, then we can call them out. amiright??
  3. Depends on the size of the DZ. Manifest is usually the "face" of the DZ lot of times. They might sell tickets or do equipment checks for visiting jumpers. They might only assign jumpers. Must be a chick and attractive.

    Skydive Perris

Was only here for a small time for team training, but its a great place. They only have a smallish grassy area for landing but otherwise the landing area is huge. There are tons of aircraft and a wind tunnel. I'm not sure how fast they turn the loads during busier times, but not to worry, the cafe is amazing. This isn't your typical DZ fare of processed cheese on wonder bread. They are serving up restaurant quality stuff.
  5. From the still frames, she has nice nails, so thats a bonus.
  6. Increase bone density through exercise and calcium intake and perform a proper PLF. /6 posts before the go-pro demonization though. C'mon DZ.commers...slacking!
  7. Can't speak to the canopy thing. As for the kiss pass, relax. Can you really tell me there's a safety issue with lockin' lips for a second with a student on what many DZ's consider a graduation jump? Really now. We have many major-league safety problems in this sport. Are you really trying to say a kiss pass with a level 7 student is one of them? My post mentioned nothing about the safety aspect. I just thought it seemed a bit unprofessional and the person said they landed off dz so the person doesnt have the situational awareness to do exciting things like pass a kiss...yet. They are still a student. Thats all I was getting at. Just stinks of the "cute girl at the DZ that gets whatever she wants." Even though it could have been a boy getting a kiss from the hot female instructor which would have contributed to him landing off. I couldnt care less. Just posting on the internet.
  8. I was wondering why kiss passes are being thrown on an AFF jump and curious as to why you would be jumping a Sabre 190? First thoughts are that you are a cute 115 pound female.
  9. Those things actually dont make people come back, though the do help. If your DZ has a cool vibe and the locals make an effort to genuinely engage the students and, as mentioned, get to see some after hour activities, thats what gets people back.
  10. Anyone know where the "how not to do 4-way" video with "Headstrong" by Trapt went? I think it was #1 on skydiving videos when it was up.
  11. It will be hard to find as any paramilitary unit will be using some version of multi-cam these days since it blends into most environments.
  12. I still cant believe the DZs dont put up on facebook if they are jumping at the time or not. Maybe some do, but the ones where Ive jumped only do after the fact.
  13. For me, my wife is not so much concerned about the relative safety, but the amount of time and money (she is a stay at home mom) that I sometimes spend at the DZ in order to have "street cred" and progress as needed. Our sport is weird really. If you played basketball all the time and went to basketball camps and "three point training" as a 30 year old people would call you stupid, but we do camps and classes all the time as skydivers when it really adds nothing to humanity. Ranting....
  14. I used to live in England and did all of my training and progression there. I jumped at one place 40 or so minutes from my house and the weather was the same. I jumped at another place and though it was only 60 or so minutes away the weather was unpredictable as it related to my house. The met office dot co dot uk is accurate for the airfield nearest your DZ. If you wake up and the tops of trees are blowing in the wind, probably too windy. Depending on your life and family situation, sometimes its good to spend the weather weekends at home with your friends and family so when you do get several weekends on the trot of good weather there isnt a shock. Personally, I would rather skip or get our of work early on a Friday or Monday to learn to pack or whatever instead of doing that on the weekend when the staff is probably too busy prepping tandems or drinking tea. What is your home DZ and your driving distance from them?
  15. So basically the OP needs to tell us where on the the planet this occurred before we can come to a decent conclusion.
  16. Not sure if we can put websites on here but ukskydiver dot co dot uk has some good info. If you go to the east of england, they usually have better weather than the rest of the country. I dont think the weather is as bad as the rumor mill would have it. The summers are glorious as are the springs and autumns. None of the DZs will have the capacity of a Perris or Eloy (who does?) and most are very tandem oriented. For example, if you have one rig and pack yourself, you might get 3 to four lifts a day. Sometimes more, most of the time less. Mostly due to tandems, and the "cuppa tea" syndrome that is pervasive at many places. There is a little issue called FS1 but I wont even get into that. Some of the nicest, friendliest people you will jump with are from the UK.
  17. My advice would be to save your money and blow in the city of Las Vegas and do your tandem experience closer to home. The DZs in the are will struggle to meet your requirements in an efficient way.
  18. The Air Force Academy has a jump program with no instructor present. However, its from 5,000 ft AGL and with several days of ground training. So its a clear the aircraft and pull. These cadets are also considered some of the best and brightest our nation has to offer and this combined with the training has resulted in very few incidents. These cadets are not qualified to do any jumps for any real world mission scenario. The military free fall school does one solid week of ground training with tunnel training included. You jump with an instructor who doesnt neccesarily harness hold you but will do so if needed based on what he has gathered from your disposition during ground training and on the jump itself. Some jumpers have two instructors go out with them for various reasons. These students usually come from the special ops community and are, too, some of the strongest, smartest, and capable people in the military. The syllabus is more or less the same as what a USPA "A" license is except with night, equipment, and oxygen in various combinations. Graduates of this course would be able to jump into a real mission with some added training from their unit.
  19. This dufus is why we have to do 5 hours of sustained airborne training before a 20 second jump. He was pulling one riser slips to avoid when it didnt appear that anyone was closing in on him. One riser slips speed you up substantially and its almost impossible to slow it back down. He didnt appear to shift his body in in the harness to present his five points of contact to the ground. Failure to execute a proper PLF. NIce blood curdling scream though.
  20. Thats a shame that we cant speak freely on the internet. He should change his business practices if he doesnt want people dogging his DZ.
  21. Some foreigners dont realize how big the USA actually is, so be advised if you are thinking about just going to Arizona its over a day's worth of driving. Of course you could fly, but you havent said what your expectations are. There are plenty of places in Texas to jump, however the weather in March can be hit or miss with spring time thunderstorms.
  22. So we dont give the DZO crap for letting the plane take off in conditions where visibility is reduced? We dont give the pilot crap for the same thing? We dont give the the DZO crap for not appointing a competent jumpmaster to spot the DZ and release the jumpers at reasonable intervals? The DZO probably has more than 10,000 jumps so he's infallible. I know there were some people up thread who pointed this out, but it has just been glossed over while we continue to blame the go pro.
  23. Thats why I rarely come here anymore. Anyone with less than 10,000 jumps is a n00b and go pros are the devil. Multiply that times whatever and thats what this forum has become. People start their posts with "im just a newb" because they are afraid of getting flamed on.
  24. No matter how BA your local rigger claims to be or even how highly he/she is regarded amongst the locals, I always suggest sending the canopy back to the manufacturer for a reline.
