You raise some concerns that all newbies should look into. I dont want to sound corny but who knows...this thread could save lives. I dont know the chances of landing in water...I am a newbie myself and plan on starting AFF soon, and if I ever land in water or have to land in water for some reason what should be done? Any ideas or input?

this is a little off topic, may sound dumb...but how do you actually learn to pack your own chute and etc..

DZ Record Holder of Tandem Jumps in a single day
papax17 replied to Channman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yea Cross Keys holds the record I believe, becuase i was there. 407 tandems were done in that day. Everyone at cross keys was amazing, and very friendly. Danny the camera guy was sick and did an awesome job on my friends video, and kelly did a sick job on mine. Its amazing what those people do. I will be doing my AFF there in the early spring months. I cant wait. papa P.s. sebastion was an awesome tandem master. -
Wow fellas both your rigs look awesome...congrats on both of them and I am sure they will both serve you well.

I did my first tandem jump about two weeks ago at Cross Keys, and I am going again Saturday. The only thing I was not comfortable with was that I had to put goggles over my glasses and it basically pushed my glasses into my eyes and it was extremely uncomfortable. When I start AFF and skydiving on my own I am going to need to be able to spot the dz and other land marks that I wont be able to spot with out my glasses. Is there a way I can comfortably wear my glasses when jumping? Thanks in advance Papa

I did my first tandem this past monday and I am completely addicted, but I have a few questions. My first question is pretty important...As I descended to the Earth my ears started to hurt, and when I landed they hurt a lot and the pain eventually went away. As I keep jumping will this problem go away? Second question. I am very excited about the sport and I am in love with everything about it, but I am a student and I got to save money for AFF. It will probably take a couple of months to get the money, and the season will probably be over. Would it be better to wait until next spring? Even tho I really dont want to.. Thanks in advance papa

My first jump for the record books!
papax17 replied to papax17's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So today my buddy and myself went to Free Fall Adventures in southern Jersey for our first tandem jumps. We had just so happend to be so lucky that Red Bull was sponsoring FFA's attempt to shatter the record for most tandem jumps in one day. Our experience was awesome. The crew at FFA was outstanding, they made us feel comfortable and did everything they could to cater to our needs. After we were given our instructions and paired up with our instructors we jumped from about 14,000k and it was unreal. I had never experienced anything of that nature in my whole life, and I couldnt believe the manuevers the videographer was doing around me. I am definately going to take AFF classes but I am not sure when the appropriate time for me to take them because I dont have the funds to drop on all new gear. How can a student get into the sport with out having to drop thousands?. Any advice? How did you all work your way into the sport? And yes from what I have heard FFA did break the record with 406 tandem jumps in one day. I cant wait to get more into the sport!! -Papa -
Is it common for that situation? If so how dangerous is it exactly? That kinda made me nervous...

Hello everyone I just realized recently how awesome this sport is and I am very excited to get into it. I have 0 jumps under my belt right now but thats going to change quick. I'm doing my first tandem jump on monday at free fall adventures, and I have never been so pumped for anything in my whole life. Is there anyone else in Jersey who jumps? How did you all get into the sport? What should I suspect as I get deeper into it? This sport is awesome Thanks

Whats goin on air girl. I'm actually doing my first jump monday at free fall adventures. Im 19 now and I plan on getting into the sport after my tandem jump. I live about about 1 hour and 45 mins away from free fall. If you are ever looking for someone to jump with, give me the heads up and maybe we can work something out. -John
